CONFERMENT of the FREEDOM of the BURGH of DUNOON on THE ARGYLL & SUTHERLAND HIGHLANDERS. ORDER OF E7MTS AT CEREMONY. The parade will take up position on Alexandra Parade facing the Argyll Gardens at 2.15 p.m. The Parade will consist of: The Colours and Two Guards of The 1st Battalion The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders together with Representative Parties from: (a) The.Regimental Headquarters and Depot The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. (b) The 554th (Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders) Light Anti-Aircraft Regiment Royal Artillery Territorial Army. (c) The 402nd Light Regiment Royal Artillery (5th/6th Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders) Territorial Army. (d) The 7th (Stirlingshire) Battalion The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. (e) The 8th (Argyllshire) Battalion The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. (f) The 1st (South Argyll) Cadet Battalion Army Cadet Force. The Parade will be under the Command of Lieutenant Colonel J.C. Church, M.C.,Officer Commanding 1st Battalion The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. At 2.30 p.m. Major General J. Scott-Elliott, CBE.,DS0.,Acting Colonel of the Regiment accompanied by Provost E.Wyatt will arrive at the Saluting Base. General Salute. Inspection of the Parade. The Parade will Stand Easy. Provost Wyatt will address the Parade and call upon the Town Clerk to read the Citation conferring the honour. General Scott-Elliott will accept the Scroll, sign the Burgess Roll and Receipt and reply to the address. Three Cheers. The Parade less Military Band 1st Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders will march off towards Kirn and return past the Saluting Base. During this march, the Military Band of 1st Battalion The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders will play a selection of music. The Parade will march past with Bayonets Fixed and Colours Flying. It will be led by the Pipes and Drums of the 1st Battalion The Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. The Parade will continue along Argyll Street.

    Students from Malaya who are studying at various universities in this country were among the spectators at the freedom ceremony

    in Dunoon.

    The March Past After the freedom ceremony Hie Argylls march past with

    bayonets fixed. Provost Wyatt took the salute at the parade.
