New Ice Skating Rink Now Open at Gavin Park in WiltonThis winter, the Town of Wilton Recreation at Gavin Park is offer-ing the public another opportunity for winter fun. The Parkʼs brandnew ice skating rink is now open, and all are invited to bring theirskates and head out onto the ice. Gavin Parkʼs ice skating rink isapproximately 100ʼ long by 70ʼ wide. It is available for use byskaters of any age and level of experience; however, childrentwelve years old or younger must be under the direct supervisionof a parent or guardian at all times. Since the facility is intendedfor pleasure skating only, no hockey sticks, pucks, or games ofany kind are allowed on the ice. No Nordic speed skates are al-lowed. The rink is open weekdays from 1 – 8 p.m., Saturdaysfrom 12 noon – 8:00 p.m., and Sundays from 12 noon – 6:00p.m., depending on weather conditions. There is outdoor lighting,so skating after sundown can be accommodated, although allskaters and visitors must be off the ice and ready to leave thePark when the lights go off at the close of skating hours. The Community Hospice, providing services in eight countiesaround the Capital Region, is looking for compassionate andfriendly people who have positive attitudes and are good listenersto be Hospice Volunteers.Volunteers may visit with patients and families in private homes,hospitals and nursing homes. Volunteers may also help with ad-ministrative work in the Hospice office, deliver supplies, run er-rands, and support the Hospice effort in a number of other ways. Managing Native Seed Sources as a Critical Natural ResourceGLENS FALLS - Seed collection isnʼt a new science; it has been going on since ancient times.But why is it so important today? Native seeds provide many benefits to wildlife and the nativeecosystem for diversity. Native plants offer many positive aspects to the local flora and faunafor food and cover - seeds, nuts, fruits, nectar, and as a host plant for many species. Winter 2014 Children & Teen Acting Classes Start at HMTSARATOGA SPRINGS - Home Made Theater announces acting classes for children andteens ages 6 to 18, beginning February 1st and running for five consecutive Saturdays. Allclasses are held at the Spa Little Theater in the Saratoga Spa State Park. Play Acting for chil-dren ages 6-7, instructed by Kate Starczewski. Students are introduced to theater and focuson the actor “tools” and using “play” in acting. Play Acting meets from 10:00am-11:00am andcosts $60.
