JUDGESLeonore Abordo - 93981 – Sandia Park, NMLeonore "Leo" Abordo lives on several acres in northeast NewMexico with her borzoi, a housecat, and the world's mostunderstanding husband. Their Oxota borzoi routinely courseblack-tailed jackrabbit (hare), coyote, and anything else with furthat trespasses. Leo feels very fortunate to have owned, bred, and co-bred multiple DC's, BIF's, BISS, AOM, breed & mixedhunt winners, BOB winners at national conformation andperformance events, BISSw/BVIS winners, and top-ranked open field and conformation hounds. Watching dogs perform their original function has been a joy since the early 80's; nothing compares to sighthounds in full flight. Leo has been judging sighthound field events since 2008, starting with OFC and adding AKC and ASFA licenses. It's been a privilege to judge lure coursing at multiple regional and national specialties, and the opportunity to judge the 2019 AKC NLCC is a special honor.- Leonore Abordo

John Arvin - 57337 - Barnegat, NJI have owned Ridgebacks since 1985. Since 1993, I have usedthe prefix Mystic Isle, typically breeding one litter approximatelyevery eighteen months. I’ve owned and bred top lure coursing dogs, as well as handling my own dogs inconformation competition.I served on the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States(RRCUS) Board of Directors from 1996-2002, founded the highlypopular RRCUS Owner-Handler Award program; am a foundingmember of the Greater Valley Forge Rhodesian Ridgeback Club (since 1990), serving in several different offices for the club - currently as Corresponding Secretary. I enjoy lure coursing and actively participated in RRCUS gaining recognition in ASFA Lure Coursing.I am very honored to have been again selected to serve the lure coursing community by judging the AKC NLCC. I very much look forward to seeing the fabulous hounds from around the USA compete for the sport’s top award. - John Arvin

Kirby Overcash - 40381 - Maiden, NCMy first sighthounds were Irish Wolfhounds (IW). I had fourand bred one litter of 9 pups. I began competing in theshow ring, open field coursing, racing, and lure coursing inCalifornia with my first IW- “Judah” in 1995 through 2000.I’ve trained and competed with my sighthounds in the openfield coursing competitions for the past 21 years. Although Inow live in North Carolina I still make it a point to travel outwest with at least one of my Salukis to hunt in open fieldcompetitions. I have also been training and competing withmy sighthounds in lure coursing and racing for the past 20 years.I currently own 10 Salukis ranging from 2 years to 14 years of age. I have co-bred 5 litters since 2008. My hounds have been honored to earn many hunting, racing, coursing, and show titles. A few of the most notable honors was winning the: AKC National Saluki Specialty Best In Show in 2008, NOFCA Grand Course Championship in 2011, NOTRA National Racing Championship in 2016. I apprenticed and earned my Open Field Coursing judge’s license in 1997 followed by an ASFA lure coursing judge’s license in 1998. I earned my AKC lure coursing judge’s license in 2004. I’ve judged numerous open field and lure coursing trials with the special honor to judge various breed specialty trials. I’ve also had the honor of judging the NOFCA Grand Course Open Field Championship in 2000 and 2003, as well as, the NACA Open Field Whitetail Invitational in 2007.I was honored to be invited to judge the AKC National Lure Coursing Championship in North Carolina in 2016. This will be my second opportunity and honor to judge the AKC National Lure

CoursingChampionship of 2019 in Tennessee. I bring a unique perspective in lure course judging based on my foundation of open field hunting and judging experience. I take very seriously my responsibility to thoroughly evaluate each hound’s performance demonstrated on the coursing field. I begin judging each of the hounds from the moment that Tally-Ho is called and I end my judging from the moment that all hounds are retrieved by a handler. I judge the entire course, not just parts of it, and I judge all of the coursing categories with reference to each breed’s expected functionality according to their original breed purpose. I am no respecter of any person handling or owning a hound once the competition begins. We can be friends before and after the competition but don’t expect any favors while I’m judging. I call itlike I SEE IT!!!I welcome and encourage all participants to approach me directly to inquire as to how I evaluated your hound’s performance after each course. Our individual perspective may not be in agreement but I will own up to any mistakes and take necessary measures to correct them to insure the best possible and most judicious evaluation for each hound in competition to ensure that the best hounds of the day are placed accordingly.Good luck and good health to all the hounds and their handlers! Now let’s have some FUN!!!- Kirby Overcash

Ping Pirrung - ZD503 – Butter, PAI am very honored to have been asked to judge the 2019 AKC NLCC. Iam looking forward to seeing many great running dogs. I have beeninvolved with lure coursing since I first experience around 1975. This isa sport dear to my heart for so many reasons. I meet amazing peopleand dogs at the same time spend a weekend outdoors enjoying thecompany of like-minded people and their hounds. One could easily say that my life has gone to the dogs …. Or hasalways been there. At no time during my life have I been without a dogof some sort. My family always had at least two dogs and at times evengot up to my Dad’s imposed limit of 4. Even in college, my dogaccompanied me to every class as well as up on stage to accept mydiploma. Borzoi were my beginning with sighthounds. My husband, atthe time, and I showed and bred Borzoi. Lure coursing was a natural fit,as my favourite place to be is outside and active. The athleticism alongwith the pure joy of watching the dogs do what they were bred to do is an indescribable thrill. We had two daughters who also went with us to almost all field trials with my second daughter practically being born on a coursing field. At times I even ventured off coursing on my own. There are some that remember me slipping dogs with a baby in a back pack and a camera in my other hand. After the girls were old enough that they could be on their own during a trial, I became a judge. This has afforded me the opportunity to see dogs lure course all over the county at the same time experiencing some amazing runs. I am looking forward to bringing my grandsons to field trials in the near future.Whippets came into my life when my daughters were young and since the late 1980’s I have had only Whippets. I am now remarried to Dennis McCann who enjoys our growing family at Labyrinth Whippets. Occasionally we will have a litter of puppies, which is the ultimate joy of owning dogs. At this point we have 5 living at our house and enjoy every minute of it. During the spring and fall almost every weekend is taken up with lure coursing or open field coursing. During the week I spend a lot of time with thedogs either biking, walking or working on their skills. I have been the Field Trial Secretary for several ASFA II’s, the first being in the early ‘80s. At most field trials I love to help out in whatever way I can; I would rather be doing something rather than sitting around waiting for our dog’s turn torun. I am a founding member of Tri-State Sighthound Club in Western PA and have been President of the club for several years. I was elected as the Corresponding Secretary of the ASFA in 2008 and reelected in 2010, which was a joy as it put me in touch with so many of the fancy all over the country. I was elected President of ASFA in 2012 and reelected in 2014 and am currently serving as the Recording Secretary for the ASFA.

- Ping PirrungSafe runs and joyful competition to all attending the NLCC.
