1 Introduction Olivetti’s new monochrome multifunctional systems adopt cutting-edge technological solutions to deliver best-in-class performance. Compliance with the latest environmental standards guarantees maximum attention to eco-sustainability. The new range of mid volume models consists of: d-Copia 3500MFPLUS d-Copia 4500MFPLUS d-Copia 5500MFPLUS Key innovations include a sharp reduction in power consumption, and a particularly fast first-copy out time. The entire range features a standard 2 GB RAM, so no additional expansions are needed to control all the machine functions and options. The new 8.5" colour touch panel provides an original and more intuitive user interface, with navigation similar to a smartphone. Data protection is of fundamental importance for many office activities. The models are compatible with the IEEE P2600 standard for security levels on office equipment. Cancellation of hard disk data by overwriting in compliance with the ISO/IEC 15408 standard is also extended to the special fax transceiver memory with the optional Data Security Kit (E). Data forwarding in network environments is protected by state-of-the-art transmission protocols such as SSL, IPsec/IKEv.2. Recognition of USB memory sticks can be prohibited to prevent unauthorised data transfers from the MFP. With the new optional Scan Extension kit equipped with Optical Character Recognition software, files can be created in Searchable PDF format with separation of images and text, enabling text to be edited and / or copied to other documents. The DP-770 (RADF) has a stack capacity of 100 sheets and can scan up to 75 ipm. The DP-772 is a Dual-Scan Feeder which scans both sides of a document simultaneously, has a stack capacity of 175 sheets and scans up to160 ipm. Advances in amorphous silicon technology have enabled development of print drums with a very long operating life and a sharp reduction in maintenance service schedules. 3.4 AirPrint Protocol Compatibility

Apple Inc.'s wireless LAN printing

AirPrint works in conjunction with Apps already installed on the Apple device, so you can print from built-in Apps including Mail, Photo, Safari and iWork

AirPrint is compatible with the d-Copia 3500MFPLUS series, but not from the early production, the serial number of the first unit per model supporting AirPrint are: d-Copia 3500MFPLUS LK53800245 d-Copia 4500MFPLUS LK63800127 d-Copia 5500MFPLUS LK73800056 NOTE: Earlier produced units require a firmware update to support AirPrint. Please note that AirPrint works through the WiFi access point (customers print server with WiFi) to the LAN on the MFP 3.5 Advanced Administrator Settings Most of the System Administrator settings can now be accessed remotely via the Embedded Web Server RX reducing the need to enter some of the settings via the MFP Touch Panel.



3.6 Lower Energy Consumption The TEC value (Typical Electricity Consumption) has been significantly reduced compared to the legacy series:

Based on the TEC value (kWh electricity used per working week), you can see from the above table that the new series saves between 39% to 53% energy compared to the legacy series. According to the energy regulator Ofgem, your customers energy bills will have risen by 28% on average over the past three years, so any significant reduction in Energy Consumption will directly benefit your customer. 3.7 New Sleep Modes A new “sleep mode” has been introduced providing a power consumption as low as 1.5 Watts. Two sleep modes are actually available, a light sleep mode to speed-up the recovery time, or, alternatively, a deep sleep mode to increase the energy saving. When the deep sleep mode is selected, only the controller section of the device remains active. The recovery from sleep involves only the necessary parts of the device for the required operation (spot conduction), e.g.: when a print job is sent, only the printer section is woken-up while the other parts remain sleeping.



4 Enhanced Copy Functionality 4.1 Standard RAM Memory has doubled in size! The basic RAM memory has been increased to 2GB (1GB Legacy) so Private Print is now standard. For printing confidential documents, the user can send print jobs via the Printer Driver with a 4-digit password. This needs to be entered at the MFP to release the print job. 4.2 Increased Productivity

Reduced Installation Time. The AK-731 Attachment Kit (Bridge Unit) for the Finisher options only takes 5 minutes to install compared with 30 minutes for the legacy AK-730

4.3 Blank Page Skip The new Blank Page Skip function can be set so that any blank pages in a document are skipped during scanning, so only content pages are printed. 4.4 Form Overlay Form Overlay now offers 10 levels of density adjustment (legacy series had 4 levels) from 10% to 100%. 4.5 Image Preview with Magnified View The Magnified View function makes it easier to check the Image Preview detail when the Form Overlay or Stamp functions are used.



5 Enhanced Print Functionality 5.1 Print on to non-standard sized Paper via Cassettes The new d-Copia 3500MFPLUS, d-Copia 4500MFPLUS and d-Copia 5500MFPLUS can print on to non-standard paper sizes fed directly from the Paper Cassettes 1 & 2, in addition to the by-pass tray.

This diagram shows the minimum and maximum paper sizes that can be feed from the Paper Cassettes 1 & 2: 5.2 Private Prints For printing confidential documents, the user can send print jobs via the Printer Driver with a 4-digit password. This needs to be entered at the MFP to release the print job. 5.3 Edge Smoothing The new series offers a new image refinement process for excellent edge smoothing, this is particlarly efficeint when printing documents with shades of grey.



6 Enhanced Scan / Fax Functionality 6.1 Fast Scanning The new Dual Scan type Document Processor DP-772 makes it possible to scan up to 160 image per minute in Mono duplex mode, no other document processor is this fast in the market segment! 6.2 Searchable PDF (opt.) With the new optional Scan Extension kit equipped with Optical Character Recognition software, files can be created in Searchable PDF format with separation of images and text, enabling text to be edited and / or copied to other documents.

6.3 Check scanning file size before sending to Mail By checking the file size before sending, a significant improvement has been introduced to the Scan-to-Mail function. Should the scan file be too large to be sent via Mail, a warning is provided and the file is not forwarded. This check avoids sending the mail with too large an attachement that would get rejected by the mail server. 6.4 New Mail Serverless i-Fax The new series introduces a new functionality for delivery of faxes via the Internet. With the optional Internet Fax kit A installed, the activation of the direct SMTP function allows the transmission and reception of i-faxes without the mail server.



7 Enhanced Security The latest technologies have been introduce in the new series to increase the level of security during operation. The private print function has become a standard feature, together with the denied access to the MFP if a wrong password is entered repeatedly. In addition, the Internet Protocol security (IPsec) has been improved with the introduction of the IKEv2 protocol to handle establishment of shared security attributes between two networks entities to support secure communications. 7.1 New Security Standard IEEE P2600 The new PLUS Series are compatible with the IEEE P2600 standard for security levels on office equipment. This standard defines security requirements (all aspects of security including, but not limited to: Authentication, Authorisation, Privacy, Integrity, Device Management, Physical Security and Information Security). For manufacturers and users on the selection, installation, configuration and usage of hardcopy devices and systems; including printers, copiers, and multifunction devices. 7.2 Overwrite Fax Memory Overwriting the dedicated Fax Memory assures that the contents of the fax already received and sent cannot be retrieved anymore. Preventing their contents bring accessed by unauthorised people.

Optional Data Security Kit (E) required 7.3 Deactivate Scan-to-USB Memory For those customers who express concern that Scan-to-USB Memory is a security risk, a setting can be made on the new series to deactivate this function. Other USB applications, such as when using the optional IC Card, remain unaffected. 7.4 New Administrator Functions Prevent unauthorised access to the MFP by setting the maximum number of times an incorrect password is entered (max.10 times). If the limit is exceeded, the MFP will be locked for a pre-defined period of time (can be set from 1 up to 60 minutes) This access lock can be extended to both local or remote access, or limited to remote access only.
