Moderation at School and withinthe cluster

Moderation occurs within the school, asteachers moderate students work withintheir cohort or year levels. However, it is alsoimportant that teachers moderate students’ work against other

students’ work within the cluster and region. This will thenensure that marking schemes are comparable and consistent, part of the Quality Assurance process that EducationQueensland has implemented.

Monday 22nd October is a student free day that enablesteachers to moderate assessment pieces with other teachers inour cluster.

Moderation:

The ultimate aim of moderation is to achievecomparable grades in a diverse range ofauthentic assessment tasks across a rangeof schools in Queensland. Moderation

provides an opportunity for teachers to achieve consistency inteacher judgment through a structured process that allowsthem to compare judgments in order to either confirm or adjustthem. The moderation process can be enacted within a schoolbased context and/or across clusters or regions. The purpose of this roadmap is to ensure that allstakeholders, parents, staff, students and the wider communityunderstand how we teach comprehension at Dalby StateSchool.
