HMP-1801HD/SD Solid-State Media Server

Space-saving, modular platform for advanced signal processing.

The Densité HMP-1801 from Grass Valley, a Belden Brand, is a single card, solid-state media server, which can capture and playback HD and SD video sequences. The HMP-1801 is ideal for playback of clips that are used repeatedly, such as full screen promos and animated apology sequences. The HMP-1801 is also ideal for filling side panels, introduced by up/downconversion, with animated graphics to improve the on-air presentation and playback.

Clip capture, content management and playback can be controlled manually using a dedicated web interface, or by the iControl monitoring and control system or the RCP-200 remote control panel. Automated control can be performed by GPI, the VDCP and Oxtel protocol.

The HMP-1801 relies on widely available, low-cost Flash Memory (Compact Flash) for media storage, and makes no use of moving mechanical parts for maximum long-term reliability and fast access times. JPEG 2000 video compression is used to maximize storage space, while also preserving broadcast quality. The content can be loaded on the card using dedicated 10/100 Mb Ethernet media transfer port by using the provided Media Manager. For a more automated workflow, the advanced asset management tool software option is available.

The card can be genlocked using SD or HD reference signals, or it can use its internal timebase-accurate oscillator. If multiple cards are installed in the same frame, the cards can be locked to a common frame reference using the REF-1801 reference option.

Ingest management

Media management and playback control

The HMP-1801 is supplied with a web-based media ingest, clip management and playback utility, which offers a streamlined workflow.

Content management Playback management

Ingest can be performed manually over a dedicated Ethernet port, using a web-based application or the iControl control and monitoring system. It can also be done automatically using GPIs, the VDCP or Oxtel protocol.

Once loaded, clips can be trimmed, and loaded into playlists using the web-based utility.

Playback is performed under automation using GPIs or the VDCP or Oxtel protocol. Manual control is available from Media Manager or the iControl system.
