    This meeting is being held in conformity to the Open Public Meetings Act N.J.S.A. 10:4-6 et. seq. Properpublic notice of the meeting was published in the local papers on December 4, 2010 and December 6,

    2010.

    If any Board member or member of the public in attendance believes that the meeting is in violation ofthe Open Public Meetings Act, the Hoboken Board of Education requests that they make a statement atthis time.

    The Board wishes to make those in attendance aware that this meeting is being recorded on video and willbe broadcast by the Board at a later date on CATV Channel 77.

    00. The Board of Education hereby approves the following resolution adopting a UniformState Memorandum of Agreement Between Education and Law Enforcement Officials.

    RESOLVED, that the Hoboken Board of Education will adopt a Uniform StateMemorandum of Agreement Between Education and Law Enforcement Officials 2007Revisions* approved by the New Jersey Department of Law & Public Safety and theNew Jersey Department of Education.

    * This document is a revision of the 1998, 1992 and 1999 versionsof the State Memorandum of Agreement approved by theAttorney General and the Commissioner of Education and whichis required in N.J.A.C. 6A:16-6.2(b) 13 through 15.

    2. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend from a pool of Home Instructionteachers previously approved on the agenda be assigned as follows:

    Lorna Courtney-Martinez is the instructor assigned to Home Instruction Student #2010-1 for theperiod October 20 through November 8, 2010.

    Ivan Ramos is the instructor assigned to Home Instruct Student#2010-2 for the period October20, 2010 through approximately January 6, 2011.

    Patricia Drumgoole is the instructor assigned to Home Instruction Student #2010-3 for the period

    October 28, 2010 through approximately March 18, 2011.

    Elizabeth Sanabria is the instructor assigned to Home Instruction Student #2010-4 for a period of12 weeks.

Salary atStep 8 $62,223.00 as per HEA contract. (Nurse shall be assigned to all buildings housing earlychildhood programs.)

    10. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend the appointment of Deana Salvatore,effective January 18, 2011 as Speech-Language Specialist for the Hoboken Public Schools.

    Salary at MA&30 Step 6 ($59,865) plus Speech Therapist Stipend $3,404 = $63,269 as per HEAContract for the 2010-2011 School Year.

    11.     14. Submitting for review and approval, permission is hereby requested for Hoboken High SchoolCenter to enter into a contract with ImPower Pilates (IMPP) as a presenter/instructor during the2010-2011 School Year. Pilates classes will consists of three (3) 50 minute sessions during non-instructional time. Proposed dates of service are Monday, January 31, 2011, Tuesday, February1, 2011 and Wednesday, February 2, 2011. It is offered free of charge to the students, and costswill include miscellaneous expenses such as refreshments for the students, not greater than $100,to be taken from SBYSP grant line: 20-436-200-800-13-0251-000-7993.

    Submitting for review and approval, permission is hereby requested for Hoboken High SchoolCenter to enter into an agreement with HOPES CAP, Inc. to provide financial literacy training toHoboken High School students during the 2010-2011 School Year. Training will consist of four(4) one-hour weekly sessions; during non instructional time. Dates include January 4, 2011,January 11, 2011, January 18, 2011 and January 25, 2011. It is offered free of charge to the

    students, and costs will include miscellaneous expenses such as after school snacks for thestudents, not greater than $50.00, to be taken from SBYSP grant line: 20-436-200-800-13-0251-000-7993.

    16. Submitting for review and approval, I hereby recommend the promotion of Joseph Lucignano,from Custodian to Engineer at Wallace School, effective July 23, 2010, salary as per HSEA

    contract, from 19th step $46,640.00 + $1,500.00 longevity $48,140 to 19th Step $47,090 +$1,500.00 Longevity = $48,590.00. Mr. Lucignano has completed all required training andpassed the State of N.J. License Exam.

    17. Submitting for review and approval, it is hereby requested that Hoboken High School requestspermission to have the Harlem Wizards participate in a 2 hour game against the Faculty and Staffof the Hoboken School District. The date of the event will be January 26, 2011. If the HarlemWizards are unavailable for this date the event will be on February 22, 2011. The profit that willbe given to Hoboken High School is 40% of ticket sales and 15% of souvenirs that will be sold.The cost of the microphone and sound system are all included. Ticket prices are $10 in advanceand $15 at the door.

    18. Submitting for review and approval, Hoboken High School requests permission for MelindaViruet from Wachovia Bank to come to Hoboken High School starting January through June fortwo days a week to work with the students as part of the High Schools Economic AdvisoryInitiative on Financial Literacy. There is no cost to the district.

Mr.Gordon is a speaker and philanthropist and has various online education videos. Mr. Gordonsmultimedia presentation is intended for all high school students, and encourages them to achievetheir best and realize their future dreams, by being persistent, prioritizing what is important andnot becoming discouraged by setbacks. There is no cost associated with this engagement.

    10 SBA Submitting for review and approval: I hereby recommend the approval of the followingresolution renewing the workers compensation insurance policy with AmeriHealthCasualty Insurance Company through November 26, 2011.

    WHEREAS, the Hoboken Board of Education has previously engaged an insuranceconsultant to advise the board on the placement of its insurance policies, and

    WHEREAS, the firm of B.G.I.A. through its agent Mr. Terence Dermody has

    recommended the renewal of its current workers compensation policy with AmeriHealthCasualty Insurance Co. through November 26, 2011 at an annual premium of$155,356.00 for the Large Deductible Program Parameters, and

    WHEREAS, said recommendation was made after comparing the cost with a GuaranteedCost Program which would cost approximately $700,000,

    NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Hoboken Board of Educationhereby renews the workers compensation policy as recommended above by theirinsurance consultant, and

    BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the School Business Administrator is authorizedto execute the renewal documents, and

    BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that this resolution shall take effect immediately.

    11 SBA Submitting for review and approval: I hereby recommend the approval of the followingresolution regarding readvertising for bids for classroom ventilation/corridor exhaust,repairs to failed roofing system, repair north parapet wall coping at Demarest School.

    WHEREAS, the Hoboken Board of Education did on Tuesday June 29th, 2010 award acontract to the low bidder, GDS Mechanical, Inc. for the listed repairs to DemarestSchool , and

    WHEREAS, the administration immediately forwarded all documents required to theSchool Development Authority for their final approval, and

    WHEREAS, the approval from SDA was received after the end of the sixty day periodrequired for contractors to hold firm their bid prices, and
