PUBLIC MEETING CALL TO ORDER: BOARD SECRETARY OPEN PUBLIC MEETING STATEMENT: This meeting is being held in conformity to the Open Public Meetings Act N.J.S.A. 10:4-6 et. seq. Proper public notice of the meeting was published in the local papers on October 8 and October 9, 2011. If any Board member or member of the public in attendance believes that the meeting is in violation of the Open Public Meetings Act, the Hoboken Board of Education requests that they make a statement at this time. The Board wishes to make those in attendance aware that this meeting is being recorded on video and will be broadcast by the Board at a later date on CATV Channel 77. The Hoboken Board of Education is committed to preserving the decorum of the public process and is mindful that we live in the electronic age of computers, cell phones and other electronic communications devices. Nevertheless, we respectfully request that all meeting participants kindly silence their electronic devices during the course of the meeting, and if use of the device is necessary, we ask that you please leave the meeting room if you need to conduct personal business. The Board President has asked me to remind the public of the appropriate procedure for the public comment portion of the meeting. As you know, each speaker has five minutes to present their comments to the Board of Education. This is not to be an opportunity to debate members of the Board of Education or ask questions of administrators that are more appropriately addressed in a private setting. After the member of the public has had an opportunity to speak for five minutes, the Board President will consider whether it is appropriate for any administrator(s) or Board members to address the issues raised. This is being done to provide for a more civil and organized forum in which we can benefit from public input without the acrimony which often distracts us from the business at hand. Thank you for your cooperation.
