WEEK 2

Pink was for October ‘The Stache’ is for Movember!

The Movember campaign is an independent

global charity where men and women join

together to raise November to raise aware-

ness for a charitable cause.

This year, the (male) staff from Tenby Inter-

national School have agreed to take up the

challenge to grow different styles of mus-

taches for the month of November. Money

raised from this campaign at Tenby will be

donated to a local charity cause, the Soropti-

mist International (SI) Ipoh’s Edufun Centre.

It is a centre in Ipoh which provides shelter and assistance for underprivileged children from problematic

environments and broken homes.

Starting from Monday, 18 November 2013 a collection box will be passed round at the school assembly

for this cause. Parents and guardians who wish to contribute to this cause are requested to write their

cheques to Ipoh International School Sdn Bhd or place your cash donations in a box in the main office.

We will be featuring our Mo Bros’ ‘moustache growing progress’ in our newsletters and here are the pictures for the first and second week.

Tenby Schools Parents Survey

We are publishing the annual Tenby Schools Parents Survey, and the link for it

will be kept open until Sunday, 24th November 2013.

A survey is a crucial part of school development and improvement. It gives us an

opportunity to celebrate what we are doing well, while at the same time provides

useful data to inform future plans, which will enable Tenby Schools to provide a

more effective teaching and learning environment for all of our students in the

years to come.

Please take a few minutes to complete the Parents Survey for 2013. We thank

you for taking the time to help us move forward.

To commence with the survey, please visit:

Leadership course

On 25 October 2013, eight student leaders from Tenby Schools Ipoh attended the

Leadership Training Workshop conducted by Eric Liddell and Aiden Harper of TFL

Education. Emily Ho, Caelan Parlanti, Alycia Wong, Warunya Lawpattanagoon,

Chantelle Wyllie, Choo Wei Yang, Jordan Loke and Chew Tzu Hong were accom-

panied by Ms Nikki Sullivan for the one-day workshop held at Tenby Schools Setia

Eco Park.

“This was the first time where students from all branches of Tenby (Tenby Schools

Ipoh, Tenby Schools Penang, Tenby Schools Setia Eco Park, Tenby International

School Miri and Tenby International School Setia Eco Garden) were able to meet

together in this sort of an event. It is always a good experience to meet students

from other schools, as it encourages unity of all the Tenby braches and also

grants us the opportunity to gain insight on the difference between life in Tenby

Ipoh and life in other Tenby schools,” Emily Ho, Year 10 Blue.

The workshop was divided into four sessions, Leadership Pathway, Team Lead-

ing, Communication and ‘We are all Leaders’ and for every session, students were

asked to reflect on the topic and what they have learnt from the activities conduct-

ed.

“The activities set up by the speakers were very meaningful as at the end of every

activity, there will always be a lesson to us all. The activities allowed us to imagine

and experience what might happen in real life if no one steps up and takes the

lead; what might happen if we have no proper communication among the group

and what might happen, if we do not co-operate with one another” Chew Tzu

Hong, KBSM 4.

Everyone found the workshop truly inspiring and they have even requested for the

school to organize similar inter-school events in the near future. The 6-hour work-

shop ended at around 3.30pm before the student leaders depart for Ipoh with the

school van.

“We went home feeling weary but definitely wiser as we have learned so much

from the course. It was an excellent experience and we all enjoyed it. I strongly

recommend Tenby to set this up again in the years to come” Jordan Loke, Year 10

Green.
