What a tremendous week it has been with the students really coming to the fore and performing their hearts out on the stage. This is a very unique experience for our students as they get the opportunity to perform in a professionalproduction in a proper theatre. We are privileged to have staff who not only have the creative talents to develop and produce such an event, but the desire to ensure your children get this experience. I must congratulate everyone who has played a part in this yearsproduction including all staff members, and many of our school community. Whether you assisted with the costumes, sets, ticketing, rehearsals, travelling on the bus to assist the ratios required for our studentssafety, or if you came along on the night to be an awesome audience member …. THANK YOU. Special thanks must go to Victoria Rendall, Peter Jenkins and Alysia Bailey for their leadership in ensuring the whole experience was such a success for the whole school community. An Important reminder – the performance is due to finish at approximately 9.00pm each night. If you are not attending the performance it is essential that you are at the centre to collect your child by 9.00pm. Students get quite anxious if they are waiting around for you to arrive. I am sure we will literally fall into school on Friday morning and look forward to a two-week break. Prep Information Night This will be held on Wednesday 18 th October at 7.pm. Please spread the word that this is a night where more detailed information is given to parents of children starting primary school. We currently have 67 2018 Preps enrolled and would love to hear from anyone who is intending to enrol but havent yet. If you have another child attending next year please do not wait to tell us later on in the year. The sooner we know numbers the better we can plan to ensure we have the necessary staff employed. 20th September 2017

Dear Parents, SUPERSONIC SOLAR SYSTEM SUPER STARS When you read this there should be only one final performance to go in this year’s musical. What a tremendous week it has been with the students really coming to the fore and performing their hearts out on the stage. This is a very unique experience for our students as they get the opportunity to perform in a ‘professional’ production in a proper theatre. End of Term Dismissal and Final Assembly – Friday 22nd September As this week is the final week of term 3, students will be dismissed at the earlier time of 2.30pm, so please ensure you have made suitable arrangements to have your children collected at this time on Friday. There will be a final whole school assembly on Friday after recess starting at 11.20am. We would love to see you there to celebrate the conclusion of musical week and to see the term out. A tradition we have created is when the 800 students give a rendition of the Super Sonic Solar System Super Stars finale. This is a performance not to be missed so come along, witness the final assembly and enjoy a massive finale item!! Footy News So … it’s down to the final four, that also happens to be the top 4 after the final round. A fitting end to the season. It’s hard to go past the Crows in Adelaide, but if Geelong bring the game they played last weekend who knows what the result will be. And of course there’s the block buster at the MCG, if you call a game filled with supporters from one side a blockbuster, I am sure there will be a sea of Yellow and Black on Saturday. I predict a Crows vs Tigers Grand Final after the weekend games. I wish you all a wonderful break and look forward to seeing everyone back for term 4 on Monday 9th October. Have a great holiday break and keep smiling!

PARENTS REMINDER

FRIDAY 22ND SEPTEMBER IS THE LAST DAY OF TERM 3.

On the 1st of September the grade fives went to Sovereign Hill to learn about Australian history in the 1800’s. We came across lots of wonderful sights that intrigued everybody and we learnt lots of new and exciting things!

Besides from the learning aspect, we also went panning for gold, bowling and exploring little shops around the town. We learnt the working conditions that the miners had to face during the 1800’s as well as experiencing how they smelted and poured the glittering gold into the mould.

Inside some of the shops you could buy things like sweets, fans, candles and soap but in some shops you could only have a look around. At the end of the day we learnt lots of new things and its an experience we’re never going to forget!

To help create a sustainable environment Kilberry Valley Primary School has gone

wrapper free EVERYDAY!

What does it look like? A “wrapper free” lunch box is one that has no plastic wrappers or rubbish that goes to landfill. Use re-useable containers and re-use snap lock bags to build a healthy and rubbish free lunch box. And remember, fruit scraps are not included as rubbish! Kilberry Valley Primary School has a composting programme to reduce landfill and to educate students about sustainability. For more information, contact Jaclyn Engellenner

One of our children in the school community is receiving medical treatment which puts them at serious risk if they are exposed to

infectious illnesses, in particular: Chicken -Pox, Measles, Mumps or Shingles.

It is also important that while your child is unwell they remain at home until they

are no longer contagious. Please let us know immediately by calling the

school office on 9702 8688.

As a school community we value your support in relation to the wellbeing of all our students.

Any parent who wishes to help out in our classrooms or on excursions, must provide a current Working With Childrens Card (WWCC) to the office. On the day you come to assist, please come through the office and sign in the visitors book, you will be given a “Classroom helper Privacy Agreement” to read and sign. Please ensure you bring your Working With Childrens Card with you, to display in our lanyard, which you will wear while in the classroom or on excursions.

CHANGE OF CLOTHING FOR STUDENTS

We would like to remind parents to

provide a change of clothing in children’s school bags—preferably some clean

underwear, track suit pants, windcheater, shorts or a dress.

This is handy for

ALL children in ALL grade levels .

It makes them feel less stressed if they require a change of clothing owing to an accident or a blood nose or

they fall in the mud.

We ask for your co-operation with this matter as our Sick Bay is unable to cope

with the large volume of people requiring changes of clothing.

THANK YOU
