    Stanford Captures Division I Learfield Sports Directors Cup;ACC Places Three Institutions in Top 10

    CLEVELAND Stanford again finds itself in the top spot of the Division I Learfield Sports Directors Cupstandings with 1526.75 total points. Although baseball points still need to be calculated, the Cardinal willcapture the Cup. The final standings will be released after the College World Series.

    The Cardinal most recently finished second in womens rowing, sixth in mens outdoor track & field,eighth in womens outdoor track & field, ninth in softball and 31st in mens golf.

    Ohio State is in second place with 1277.05 total points. The Buckeyes turned in results of fifth in mensgolf, 10th in womens rowing and 26th in womens outdoor track & field.

    In third place with 1171.50 points is Duke. The Blue Devils garnered points by finishing third in mensgolf, 16th in womens outdoor track & field and 34th in mens outdoor track & field.

    California has moved into fourth with 1141.50 points. The Bears finished third in womens rowing, fifth insoftball, 19th in mens golf, 25th in mens outdoor track & field and 65th in womens outdoor track & field.

    Florida rounds out the top-five with 1122.25 total points. The Gators tallied a second place finish insoftball, while also finishing third in mens outdoor track & field, 23 rd in mens golf and 34th in womens

    outdoor track & field.

    The ACC remains atop the current conference standings, with three of its member institutions currently inthe top 10. ACC institutions in the top 10 include Duke, North Carolina (sixth) and Florida State (10th).

    12 spring NCAA championships have been completed with the following institutions capturing titles:womens golf - UCLA; mens golf Augusta State (Ga.); womens lacrosse Northwestern; menslacrosse Virginia; womens rowing Brown (R.I.); softball Arizona State; womens tennis Florida;mens tennis Southern California; womens outdoor track & field Texas A&M; mens outdoor track &field Texas A&M; mens volleyball Ohio State; and womens water polo Stanford.

    The Learfield Sports Directors Cup was developed as a joint effort between the National Association ofCollegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) and USA Today. Points are awarded based on eachinstitution's finish in up to 20 sports -- 10 womens and 10 mens.

    The final Division I standings will be released Thursday, June 30.
