1. How does a dictatorship function at base ?

A dictator has the power to control and rule without the consent of the people. A country becomes a dictatorship through the force and not by the will of the people. A dictatorship is an autocratic and totalitarianism form of government. The dictator has the absolute say in everything. He is unrestricted by the law. The dictator comes to power through election.

2. What types of countries might use this sort of government? Why?

The type of countries that would use this form of government would be countries that are easily controlled. Countries that are easily controlled would be countries that would be small in size, small in demographics, and small in cultural variation. Furthermore, once a dictatorship is established, it usually carries on. Small countries would be easy to control because there wouldn't be as much land to cover, to control. The dictator would have an easier time controlling the state and his people, which essentially would be easier to control with fewer numbers. Countries that are unified are also easier to control. With a unified people, there would be no need for the dictator to stress about having to control different groups of people, instead, he can focus all his efforts on a single group.

3. What are some of the strengths and weaknesses of this form of government?

. The country would be well lead only if the Dictator was a good leader. If he was someone that respected the people and didn’t abuse their rights then the country would do fine with this type of government. However, when there is a Dictatorship, usually the leader doesn't care about the people's rights and does abuse the strength of power that they have. They go on a "power trip" and want all the control without any consent from anyone else. All the power would be given to one person where the people will have so many limits on their freedom to the point where they wouldn't have freedom at all. For example, Hitler was a Dictator and look at the damage that was caused from total power. Millions of Jews were murdered and it couldn't be stopped. Bad things happen to those under the control of a Dictatorship and it is hard to stop that form of government from proceeding.

North Korea is located in between China and South Korea.North Korea is located in between China and South Korea.

ItIt has a temperate climate with allot of rainfall. It s full of hills and mountains separated by deep valleys. N. Korea has coastal boarders on the east and west fronts.

The demographics are hard to access because of the limited information from the country. We do however know the demographics are very homogenous and it is extremely rare to not be Korean and live in Korea.

15. Briefly analyze this government and relay your findings to the class. Does it work, is it good, does it suit that state?

In North Korea, their dictator, Kim Jong-il, forces the people of North Korea to stay in the country and they aren't allowed out. Of course there are those who try to escape, but if they are caught, they are killed and if they aren't, their family is tortured until they come back and then they are killed. Also, no one is allowed in, either. A dictatorship is a form of government that obviously does not work well because the ruler can do whatever he wants and get away with it so therefore, the people have no freedom.

16. Include any interesting findings, current event situations, etc. Our former US president, Bill Clinton, met with Kim Jong-il in August of

2009 to negotiate the release of 2 United States journalists.
