Jesmond OOSH In conjunction with Jesmond PS, C3 Victory Church has an after school care service that they provide to our community. OOSH provides many fun opportunities to develop social, emotional and learning skills. The after school care program offers interest based activities. Please support our OOSH. If you need further information, please contact our Administration office. Have a wonderful week. Deborah Kelly Year 5 Taster Lesson On Thursday 29th August, our Year 5 students visited Callaghan College Waratah Technology Campus for a taste of all that high school has to offer. It was an exciting day filled with a wide range of learning opportunities. Students were able to familiarise themselves with the campus, as well as experience high school cooking, science, library, PD/H/PE, coding, dance and music lessons. They interacted with students from other local primary schools and very much enjoyed making new friends. Our students were wonderful representatives of Jesmond Public School, with a number of teachers from other schools commenting on their exceptional behaviour and engagement. A big thank you to Callaghan College Waratah Technology Campus for organising this wonderful experience!

Premier’s Spelling Bee Regional Finals Last Friday, Jesmond Public School hosted the Premier's Spelling Bee Regional Finals for the second year in a row. Well done to our students who represented Jesmond in the finals: Zaid, Shabnam, Dylan and Manela. You all did a fantastic job! Thank you to our School Captains and student helpers on the day: Kamall, Hamish, Evie, Disa, Riley and Lana. They all had important jobs to do in each session to help the event run smoothly. We had students from 19 schools attending the Regional Finals; 34 students competed in the Junior session and 36 students competed in the Senior session. The Junior winner represented Wallsend South Public School and the Senior winner represented New Lambton South Public School. These students will now go on and compete at the Spelling Bee State Final in Sydney.

OOSH have been having a great Term 3 so far, playing lots of board games, dressing up, playing sports games outside and building things! The team at OOSH enjoyed seeing everyone dressed up for Book Week! At OOSH we conducted some science experiments, including making ‘elephant toothpaste’! We also tried a new meal for our afternoon snack, which was butter chicken with boiled rice (Halal approved) and it was a big hit! OOSH is a paid service where we look after your children after school finishes if you are working, have appointments, need to do your groceries or for any other reason where you cannot make it in time to pick up your child. We are open from 3:00-6:00pm in the hall Monday-Thursday. If you would like your child to come to OOSH, or if you have any more questions about OOSH, please feel free to come and see me between Monday-Thursday 2:30-6:00pm. You can also call me on 0427 060 072 or email me at [email protected]. We would love to meet you! From Shanais and the team at Jesmond OOSH.
