36. Cranberry & Almond Cake
Oven 180 C. 1lb loaf tin – greased base lined. 4oz dried cranberries or dried cherries, 8oz self-
raising flour. 2oz ground almonds, 5oz butter, 4oz caster sugar, ½ tsp almond essence, 2 eggs
well beaten, 3 tbsp fresh milk. Mix together the flour and ground almonds. Rub in butter until it
resembles fine breadcrumbs. Stir in the sugar and cranberries. Mix in the essence, eggs and
milk to a stiff batter making sure that the dry mix is completely mixed in. Pour mixture into
greased and lined tin. Sprinkle Demerara sugar over top. Bake for 1 hour, check after 50 mins.

RULES
1. All exhibits to be staged between 9.30am & 11.00am
2. All exhibits must be the work of the exhibitor
3. All exhibits must be the bona fide property of the exhibitor
4. No exhibitor shall be allowed to take more than one prize per
class, but may enter more than one item
5. All items 10p to enter
6. The Judge’s decision is final

The show opens to the public at 2.30pm.
No exhibit may be removed from the hall before 3.15pm
The committee will take every precaution to prevent loss or damage to
exhibits, but will not be responsible for any damage
In Division 5 (Domestic) Please use 1lb pots with removable lids (no
coffee jars!)
Points will be awarded to the exhibitor who receives 1st , 2nd or 3rd place
in a class in each division. Points are awarded as 3 points (1st place), 2
points (2nd place), 1 point (1st place). The points are totalled and the
person with the highest number of points is awarded the cup for that
division. So the more classes you enter, the better chance you have of
winning a cup!
Cups are awarded for a period of 12 months until the next show; please
make sure that you return your cup before or on the day of the show.
Division 5 Class 36, we are happy to consider recipes suggested by our
entrants for future shows and, if enough interest is shown, may look at
putting together a local recipe book in the future.
Division 8 Class 58, please confirm if you are happy for your
photograph/s to be considered for publishing in a 2020 calendar.
