GENERAL MEMBERSHIP MEETING

NOVEMBER 1, 2016 The General Membership Meeting of Queen City Dog Training Club was called to order by Vice President, Marilyn Cones at 7:31p.m., Tuesday, November 1, 2016. Ninety-one Regular Members, seventeen Associate Members and ten Guests attended the meeting, which was held in the training facility, Tramway Drive, Cincinnati, Ohio The minutes of the October 30, 2016 BOD Meeting were read by Secretary, Pat Doty, for information, only. Judy Armstrong moved “to accept the minutes of the October General Membership Meeting as printed in Pawprints”. The motion passed. Marilyn welcomed the Guests: Kathie Scott, Becky Armstrong, Mike Scheafer, Tina Scheafer, Sharon Elliott, Bev Duncan, Tim Butz, Sally Wood, and Jean Holubeck and Dan O'Brien. Condolences were extended to QCDTC's President, Sara Petersmann, and QCDTC Member, Anne Smith. Sara' nephew, Ryan, was killed in a motorcycle accident and Anne's husband, George, has passed away.

Secretary’s Report, Pat Doty: Pat read a “Thank You' note from Mary Ann Widmeyer.

Treasurer’s Report, Catherine Berberich: Catherine sent the report. Income for October, $11,848.13,Expenses, $10,582.64, Income, $1,265.49, YTD: Income, $$296,660.50, Expenses, $260,703.98, Profit, $35,956.52.

AKC Delegate, Erica Behnke: No report. The meeting was amended for brags. Members bragged about their dogs' achievements. Eleven dollars was collected. This money benefits QCDTC's service project, The Pet Food Pantry.

Sunshine, Traci Bradley: Cards have been sent to Mary Meno, Cheri Immel, Judy Armstrong, Tim Waters, Deb Davis, Tyra Valenzuela-Ray, Leslie Doyle, Jackie juenke, Bob Danenhauer, Vicki Rhein, and Sara Petersmann.

Membership, Robin Niedenthal: The applications of Mike & Tina Schaefer, Pam Hayes, Bev Duncan, Jean Holuback, and Becky Armstrong were read for information, only. They are applying for Associate Membership. The Regular Membership will vote, by secret ballot,on these applications at the De-cember 6, 2016 General Membership Meeting.

Training: The Obedience calendar is set for 2017. Interested in being an instructor? Volun-teer to assist a class! Agility, Shirley Harrison. There are some openings in the four week November clas-ses. Contact Shirley, 513-508-5086.

Maintenance, White Bourland: White and Zin Stephens are replacing the lights in the Hutchins building tomorrow. LED light packs have been installed. They have replaced 240 light bulbs in the facility! Good news! That annoying fan in Building 1 has been replaced!

Trials: The next Show N Go is Sunday, November 27, 2016. Volunteers are needed, no experience is necessary. Obedience/Rally Trials, December 3 & 4, 2016. Sharon Sharp is the Chief Ring Steward for Saturday and Linda Christman is the Chief Ring Steward for Sunday. They need volunteers for both days. The “C” Match is Friday, December 2, 2016. Agility Trials, The Lab Trials are November 5 & 6, 2016. Set up will be Friday, November 4, 2016. The three day QCDTC trials are November 11, 12, & 13, 2016. Set up will be Thursday, November 10, 2016. Mary Ann Schmithorst is coordinating the food for the three day trials. The Tracking Test is Sunday, April 2, 2017. Tracks will be laid on Saturday, April 1, 2017. Track layers and cross track layers are needed. Contact Cat Weil to volunteer.

Awards, Cat Weil: Three plaques and 30 ladders were earned by members' dogs! Nominating Committee, Jane Dewey: The floor is open for nominations from the floor. The person nominated must be present to accept the nomination or a letter of acceptance must be presented to the nominating committee. President, Erica Behnke. Sara Petersmann was nominated from the floor. The nomination could not be accepted since Sara was not present and she had not sent a letter. Vice President, Marilyn Cones. Canine Cupboard: Buy, buy, buy! Seminars: Cheryl Poe: QCDTC is having a Conformation Seminar with Laurin Howard January 7 & 8, 2017. Saturday's topic will be Basic Handling with an introduction to structure. Sunday's topic will be Basic to Advanced Handling. QCDTC member and Junior Handler price is $85 one day with a dog, $150, two days with a dog. $40 for auditor spot. Non member price is $100 a day with a dog, $180, two days with a dog. $45 auditor spot. A continental breakfast and lunch is included in the fee.

Holiday Party, Mary Ann Schmitthorst: The Holiday Party will begin at 6:30p.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2016. The meal will be catered by Vonderhaar Catering and the cost is $12, members, $15, non members. Mary Ann will have forms on the front counter. OVDO—Rick Foreman requested that the following be provided to the Club as he was not at the last meeting:

Please share with all Ohio breeders: Hopes for a dead duck session of the Ohio Legislature may be in vain. Both the House and Senate have sessions set for the week beginning Nov 14, and the House may deal with a bill that changes the definition of high volume breeder so that anyone with more than four intact females will be considered commercial regardless of the number of puppies sold or the reasons for keeping the females intact. SB331, the companion bill in the Senate, passed the Senate without a definition change. The House bill (HB 573) was assigned to the finance committee and may face hearings before the end of the year. There are three major changes to Ohio law proposed in HB 573: the bill licenses pet stores, prohibits local juris-dictions from banning or restricting the sale of puppies in pet stores, and changes the definition of high volume breeder to someone who has more than four intact females. It allows pet stores to sell puppies and dogs from rescues and shelters, "qualified breeders," and state-licensed or federally-licensed commercial kennels. (Some Ohio communities already ban the sale of dogs in pet stores un-less they come from rescues or shelters.) The bill defines "qualified breeders" as those who are not high vol-ume. The current definition of high volume breeder is one that breeds at least nine litters and sells at least 60 puppies in a year. AKC worked successfully to get the definition change out of SB331 and opposes HB 573.
