+Individual head on Zayn

A teenager at the age of 16 with a promising future as a writer is struck with cancer. The film builds up his character by showing him in school with his friends and teachers whom he has a positive relationship with. Towards the end of the film he passes out on his way home to be awoken by a doctor, the movie ends with a tear running down the side of his face and the sound of a life machine slowly declining into a long beep.

+Group Mood Board based on Head On

In this mood board we tired

incorporating all of the

themes/ideas that we would be in our film.

For example we have based our

storyline on boxing and a

broken family.

Page 6: Dragons den presentation

+Initial planning ideas

When we started to plan our ideas we tired to incorporate all of the ideas from each of our head-on’s into our film.

Our initial idea:

A young 20 year male uses boxing to reflect back on his past experiences and uses boxing as a way of escape from his past and a way of our over-coming it. The storyline follows him as a young person and the troubles that he has to face as a kid.

+Scripting Here is our final script for short film:

SCENE 1:

Voiceover: Fighting... nowadays it seems like my outlet for my rage, a medicine I need for my sickness, a sickness of being weak and not standing up for myself. But it never used to be like this. Growing up I was taught to never fight back, never lay a finger on another human being unless faced with a situation  where the only way out is to fight. I am now in the middle of this gut-churning war with my present, past and most likely my further.

  SCENE 2:

Becky Green (Mum): You useless human being, I should've got rid of you when I had the chance

Boy:  I'm sorry mum, I didn't mean to. It wasn't my fault.

Becky Green (Mum): It's never your fault; you were a mistake waiting to happen.

SCENE 3:

Teacher: So Kylide, can you tell me why you think the right-wing have these views on families?

Kylide: Why you always picking on me?

Teacher: Do not show me this attitude, if you don't want to be here you know where the door is.

Kylide: Fine, I don't want to be in this dump anymore.

SCENE 4:

Kylide: *Running to his mum, shouting* MUM! MUM! I'm sorry, I’m sorry, don't leave me I need you.

SCENE 5:

Voiceover: If you believe in yourself, have dedication and pride - and never quit you'll be a winner. The price of victory is high but so are the rewards.

We plan on using the globe as one of our locations. This will of course be for the house scenes that we

need to film. Although the globe is yet to be confirmed, we believe

that we will be able to use it as many other groups in pervious years have done so.

Photographs of location- The house

Page 31: Dragons den presentation

+Costume/Make-up – Young Charlie• Our first character is Charlie Samuels,

this will be a younger version which is aged 15/16 years old.

• Our first costume is the school uniform, this is because Charlie still goes to school and we have an important classroom scene. This makes sense with our storyline and is conventional because he will be attending school.

• We also see Charlie in a tracksuit, this is because it is conventional and you would expect to see a teenager wearing a black tracksuit.

• The black colour suggest Charlie is dark and mysterious, because he doesn’t want you too see his actual emotions, it shows that he has got something to hide.

Page 32: Dragons den presentation

+Costume/Make-up – Older Charlie• We also have Charlie Samuels as another character, however you get to see him as an adult, passed his teenage years. In the picture you can see a boxing costume this is because we will have our character training throughout our short film.

• We also have our older Charlie in a black tracksuit, this will be something that he wears on his way to the gym. This shows that he hasn’t grown up that much and he still possess some characteristics.

Page 33: Dragons den presentation

+Costume/Make-up – Becky Samuels• Becky Samuels is

Charlie’s mum, she will wear quite plain and simple clothes, this will be items such as a plain sweater and jeans. This is because she needs to fulfil her character as an alcoholic mum who doesn’t care about anything. Her costume will be quite dark and plain.

• She will have minimal/ barley and makeup, this is because we want it to make it seem like Mrs. Samuels doesn’t care about her appearance.

Page 34: Dragons den presentation

+Costume/Make-up – Mr. Biggs

• Mr. Biggs is Charlie’s teacher, he will be dressed in formal clothing which is presented in the picture on the right.

• This is because it shows Mr. Biggs as a well groomed teacher as it shows how he keeps a formal appearance.

Page 35: Dragons den presentation

+Costume/Make-up – Students

• We have a flash back of a young Charlie in a classroom scene.

• This is where we will have a number of students in their school uniform.

• This will make is seem realistic and allows the audience to compare the difference between Charlie and the other students.

Page 36: Dragons den presentation

+Casting – Young Charlie Samuels For our Young Charlie Samuels we will use Klydie Koxha.

This is because Klydie will represent Charlie and show all his struggles and his life decisions that he has gone through.

Klydie is aged 15 and he is currently taking his GCSE’s this is perfect as the young Charlie Samuels in our short films is also about to take his GCSE’s.

Page 37: Dragons den presentation

+Casting – Older Charlie Samuels For our older Charlie Samuels

we will use Omar Qaddoos. This is because Omar is 20

years old and he looks like the typical character we would expect to see as our typical boxer.

Similarly, Omar also has acting experiences as he has also studied drama and understands what we are looking for in an actor.

Page 38: Dragons den presentation

+Casting – Becky Samuels For Becky Samuels we will be

using Ms. Lodge. This is we believe that she

would play the role of a mother perfectly and we believe that she can play the role of an alcoholic mother.

Ms. Lodge also fits the role perfectly as we need someone who is tall and we believe that we can show her not having a close relationship with her son.

Page 39: Dragons den presentation

+Casting – Mr. Biggs

For our teacher we will use Mr. Biggs.

This is because Mr. Biggs is a teacher and already knows how to play a suitable role as a teacher.

Page 40: Dragons den presentation

+Casting – Students For the students we have

gathered a group of year 11 students who are willing to participate in the classroom scene.

This is because it is a vital scene whereby we show what Charlie is like in class.

We have picked year 11’s because they are currently going through their GCSE’s and they have a good understanding of what they will be doing and how they will be acting.

+Filming/Editing schedule

We plan on filming everyday after school for two weeks. This will enable us to get as much footage as we need and possibly improve the footage that we have taken. After we have filmed all of our footage, we plan on editing for the remaining days of the month, which will be 3 weeks. We believe this will give us enough time to make drafts and and improve them and make our final short film.
