Viewer Installation Instructions

For PipeDesigner 3D Release 2012 v2

This document includes instructions for proper installation of the viewerapplication. QuickPen suggests that you review and follow the instructionsto ensure that PipeDesigner 3D® Viewer functions properly afterinstallation.

The instructions outlined in this document pertain to the Viewer for PipeDesigner 3Drelease 2012 v2. Please make sure that you are installing the viewer compatible withthis version!

Preliminary StepsPerform the following procedures before beginning the installation.

Verify Autodesk ApplicationBefore installing this version of the PipeDesigner 3D Viewer, verify that you have a compatibleAutodesk® application installed.

Windows Applications

Make sure all Microsoft Windows® based applications on the server are closed, including e-mail software, and virus protection software.

Uninstall Applications

You must uninstall previous versions the PipeDesigner 3D Viewer (resident on the computer youare installing on) prior to installing the latest application.

Uninstall Previous Version of PipeDesigner 3D Viewer

1. Go to Control Panel.

2. Double-click on Add or Remove Programs.

3. Locate PipeDesigner 3D Viewer and then click on the Remove button.

4. In the InstallShield window, choose the Remove radio button. Click Next.

5. Choose OK to confirm.

6. Click Finish.

Download Procedures1. Go to http://www.quickpen.com/index.php/PD3D™-Viewers/ and then click Viewers.

2. Locate the PipeDesigner 3D 2012 v2 heading. Read product notes and then click Download

to copy the file to your computer.

3. In the File Download window, click Save.

4. In the Save As window, navigate to the location you want to use for the download, then clickSave. Make note of where you saved the file.

5. When the download is complete, click Close the Download window. Note: Depending onyour computer settings, the Download window may close automatically.

Installation Procedures

Do not install the PipeDesigner 3D Viewer on the same computer where the PipeDesignerapplication is located. Doing so will cause conflicts within the PipeDesigner 3D program.

To ensure proper behavior of the application, please follow all of the procedures as outlined in thenext topics.

Downloaded File

1. Navigate to the location where you saved the downloaded file.

2. Double-click on PipeDesigner3DViewer2012 v2 installation file.

Depending on your computer settings, you may see an exe file extension. Also, if youdownloaded the file from QuickPen’s website, you may receive a security warning message.The message is designed to protect your computer and can be ignored for the viewerinstallation. Click Run.

3. The Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for PipeDesigner 3D Viewer screen displays.Click Next.

4. The License Agreement displays on-screen (Software End User License Agreement). Readthe agreement. Choose the I accept the terms in the License Agreement checkbox.

Click Next.

You must accept the terms of the agreement to proceed with the installation. If desired,you can click Print to obtain a hard copy of the agreement.

5. In the Complete the installation screen, click Install.

6. When the installation is complete, click Finish.

7. Close all remaining open installation files (if applicable).
