The Dun & Bradstreet Data CloudThe Dun & Bradstreet Data Cloud is comprised of over 300 million business records that span across the globe delivering the world’s most comprehensive business data and insights to improve performance. The Data Cloud provides unparalleled depth and breadth of business information with each record containing thousands of attributes. It is curated from tens of thousands of sources – including both online sources and our World-Wide Network of global data partners – and is updated 5 million times per day. The Data Cloud is structured around our Live Business Identity™, which provides a unique business identifier for each entity.

DUNSRight™ Quality ProcessOur ability to turn an enormous stream of data into high quality business information is what sets us apart from our competitors. We define data quality by asking ourselves four questions:

1. Is the data accurate?2. Is the data complete?3. Is the data timely?4. Is the data globally consistent?

To answer these questions, we use a process we call DUNSRight™ to collect, aggregate, edit, and verify data from thousands of sources daily so that our customers have timely and accurate information on which to make profitable decisions for their businesses.

The foundation of DUNSRight™ is Quality Assurance which includes over 2,000 separate automated checks, plus many manual ones, to ensure that data in the Dun & Bradstreet Data Cloud meets our high-quality standards. In addition, five quality drivers work sequentially to collect and enhance data. Once the DUNSRight™ process is complete, any given entity has a Live Business Identity which is kept current through our continual monitoring of business activity.

The process to create our Live Business Identity works like this:• Global Data Collection brings together data from a variety of sources worldwide.• We apply the D-U-N-S® Number business identifier to new entities as a unique means of identifying and tracking a business globally through every step in the life and activity of the business.• We integrate the data into our Data Cloud through our patented Entity Matching, which produces a single, more accurate picture of each business.• We use Corporate Linkage to identify connections between entities, which enables our customers to view their total risk or opportunity across related businesses.• Finally, our predictive and prescriptive indicators use statistical analysis to rate a business’ past performance and to indicate how likely the business is to perform that same way in the future.

The output of this extensive process? High quality business information, available through powerful Dun & Bradstreet solutions.

Highest quality data. Continuously updated. Always at your fingertips.

Whether trading domestically or in overseas markets, the insight delivered via D&B Business Information Reports has helped thousands of customers successfully manage their risk and drive opportunity for decades. The key building blocks of this insight are the data sets we capture for each business.

Dun & Bradstreet’s unique, local presence in countries around the world is the only way to ensure the complete, timely and accurate collection of sensitive trading information. However, local value requires a global vision. Domestic insight requires consistency for international decision makers to decide with confidence. For this reason, data and risk conclusions within Dun & Bradstreet reports are always represented in the same logical and consistent manner – irrespective of the country within which the company is enquired upon and the variation of locally available data.

The following pages detail the global data standards, covering the speed, coverage, quality and availability of the data Dun & Bradstreet collects, stores, adds expert opinion to and distributes across the globe. This picture is as detailed and accurate as possible, allowing you to make critical business decisions with confidence.

BUSINESS INFORMATION REPORT IMMEDIATE AVAILABILITY

Reacting to customer demands is a sign of second best, anticipating them is first class. D&B focuses resource and effort to collect and interpret data on the companies our customers need right now. The percentage of requests for reports which are answered instantly indicates D&B’s ability to collect, interpret and hold data on the companies in the countries our customers want to do business with.

The map above provides an indication of how likely D&B are to provide our customers with an immediately available report in a particular country.

Dun & Bradstreet Investigation Speed of Service

Page 9: Dun & Bradstreet International Capabilities - ask.dnb.co.uk

9

When Dun & Bradstreet do not have a company report on file we are able to offer an investigation. D&B always aims to fulfil requests as fast as possible because we are aware that our customers need data quickly to base business decisions on. Speed of service is dictated by two major factors:

- The service level requested for the investigation (routine or urgent)

- The region in which the company that data is requested for is located

D&B’s investigation capability is tuned to the resource and infrastructure in a particular market. In some markets we are able to collect data from the local registry. In many markets these central registries do not exist so the D&B correspondent will conduct an interview directly with the company to gather as much meaningful, objective information as possible.

Investigation requests can be tracked via the D&B Credit product line.

Investigation requests on businesses in most Western European economies are usually processed within 4-5 working days for routine service. Priority service requests are usually delivered within 48 hours.

For countries in regions such as Africa or Latin America it will take longer to complete the investigation due to the local conditions for obtaining business information.

Please note, on some occasions D&B will be unable to collect or verify certain key data elements, including some that confirm that an organisation exists or is still trading, in which case an “Undetermined” or “–” Risk Indicator may be assigned. Another reason this indicator may be assigned is when D&B learns of an event that has not yet been published through the official channels but will affect the risk assessment for an organisation. For example a business may advise they have ceased trading but not have filed the appropriate documents yet.

Therefore, when an organisation is assigned an Undetermined or “–” rating we recommend that our customers should seek strong guarantees and conduct further analysis and investigation before making a credit decision. Contact D&B to understand the reason for the dash rating and why it was assigned, and use that insight to influence your decision.

Please refer to the Speed of Service chart below for a more detailed indication of average turnaround times by country.

Overall Business Risk

Dun & Bradstreet delivers an Overall Business Risk in our D&B Credit solution that uses the best available scores, ratings, and indices to provide a high-level assessment for each company. The overarching Low- to High-Risk Levels are based on the combination of individual risk levels for scores, ratings, and indices that have been assessed for the specific company. Whilst each market globally will have their own risk scores and ratings, the Overall Business Risk uses data that is available locally to create a globally consistent view that can be used to compare businesses in different countries to one another. Scores, ratings, and indices that give a perspective on business discontinuation or failure:- Failure Score- Portfolio Comparison from the Viability Rating- Risk Indicator from the D&B Rating Scores, ratings, and indices that give a perspective on payment behaviour:- Delinquency Score- PAYDEX®- Triple-A Rating- 1-2 Trade Experiences- Financial Strength from the D&B Rating

The D&B Risk Indicator is delivered on all International Business Reports and reflects D&B’s opinion of the risk associated with trading with a specific business – notably the likelihood of business continuance or failure over the next 12 months. Created from the synergy of scoring technology and expert rules, the Risk Indicator is dynamically refreshed whenever predictive data is loaded into the D&B database.

The risk indicator is generally displayed as a “–” or 1-4 Rating, indicating the probability of failure.

AAA Rating for Denmark, Finland, Norway and SwedenA separate rating system is presented on Business Information Reports from Scandinavian countries. The “Triple A” system is highly predictive and uses the same guiding principles as the D&B Risk Indicator. The AAA system assimilates financial strength and risk indicators into an alphabetic-only rating presentation. Comparing the “Triple A” Rating to the D&B Risk Indicator is simple. An explanation of the rating codes is shown below.

D&B Risk Indicator

Triple A Rating Guide to Interpretation Equivalent D&B Risk Indicator

AAA Highest credit worthiness 1

AA Good credit worthiness 2

A Credit Worthy 3

AN Newly formed 3

B Credit risk 4

C High credit risk 4

-- Rating not determined – essential information is unavailable or under review.

Risk Indicator Probability of Failure Guide to Interpretation

1 Minimum risk Proceed with transaction - offer extended terms if required.

2 Lower than average risk Proceed with transaction.

3 Higher than average risk Proceed with transaction but monitor closely.

4 High Risk Take suitable assurances before extending credit - e.g. personal guarantees.

-- Undetermined Insufficient information to assign a risk indicator - e.g. no information available to indicate trading or further investigation required. Conduct further analysis and seek strong guarantees before extending credit.

D&B Financial Strength Indicator

The D&B Financial Strength Indicator is determined by the latest Tangible Net Worth and provides an indication of the strength behind the business to cope with adverse trading periods or exploit investment opportunities.

The table below shows the countries in which D&B are able to provide a D&B Financial Strength Indicator.

D&B Maximum CreditD&B’s Maximum Credit shows the total value of goods and / or services the “average” creditor should have outstanding at any one time. In the Business Information Reports this is summarised as the maximum amount on monthly open credit terms. It is not necessarily the maximum the organisation could afford.

It is calculated using:

- Organisation Size – Based on financial information including Turnover and Total Assets when available or demographic information such as the number of employees.

- Industry – Based on the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) code.

- Risk Factor – Banded segments of the Failure Score linked to the risk of failure.

The table below shows the countries in which D&B are able to provide a Maximum Credit recommendation.

D&B Failure ScoreThe Failure Score predicts the likelihood that the company will seek legal relief from creditors in the next year or cease operations and leave creditors on the hook. The score is based on a company’s business history, payment habits, and industry norms. On a scale of 1 to 100, higher scores indicate a lower probability of failure. D&B also provides a bulleted list outlining the conditions used to determine the score. This is a helpful spot to learn if there are any outstanding charges or slow payment experiences reported.

The Failure Score makes risks visible, enabling you to reduce your bad debt and identify profitable opportunities – it also improves objectivity and consistency.

The table below shows the countries in which D&B are able to provide a Failure Score.

D&B Delinquency ScoreThe Delinquency Score looks at the next 12 months and rates the business on the likelihood of it making severely delinquent payments, seeking legal relief from creditors, or ceasing operations without paying creditors. This score is concerned only with invoice payments. It’s calculated using such variables as available trade data, firmographic data, public records, and available financial data. A severely delinquent firm is defined as a business that has paid less than 75% of Trade Experiences within terms and more than 10% paid 90+ days late.

The table below shows the countries in which D&B are able to provide a Delinquency Score.

ASIA PACIFIC EUROPE NORTH AMERICA

D&B Emma Score

Some smaller or emerging markets may not have the coverage of trade behavior and actual bankruptcy information to enable development of a standard Delinquency or Failure score.

For such markets, D&B have developed The D&B Emerging Market Mediation Alert Score (EMMA).

Business data quality in an emerging market is significantly influenced by the rapid changes that the country experiences as it develops. The definition of the EMMA Score is defined by the availability and richness of data in a country’s database and how business risk is defined in that country.

For example:

- EMMA may predict risk from data other than bankruptcy such as, significant negative news events, poor site condition, poor financials, catastrophic events and/or significant decrease in shareholders.

- EMMA may predict business unreliability from a supply-chain perspective, using data such as late shipments or stale inventory.

The D&B EMMA is a score between 1 and 10 where 1 is the lowest measure of risk and 10 is the highest measure of risk.

It is a country-specific, statistically based score that predicts the likelihood of a business in an emerging market to be problematic in paying its debts within 12 months from observation, and eventually going out-of-business.

The D&B EMMA score is available on reports from the following markets:

ROMANIA TURKEY CHINA MEXICO

D&B Country Risk IndicatorD&B’s Country Risk Indicator provides a comparative, cross-border assessment of the risk of doing business in a country.

The D&B risk indicator is divided into seven bands, ranging from DB1 through DB7. Each band is subdivided into quartiles (a-d), with an “a” rating representing slightly less risk than a “b” rating and so on. Only the DB7 indicator is not divided into quartiles.

Indicator Meaning Explanation

DB1 Lowest Risk Lowest degree of uncertainty associated with expected returns, such as export payments, and foreign debt and equity servicing.

DB2 Low Risk Low degree of uncertainty associated with expected returns. However, countrywide factors may result in higher volatility of returns at a future date.

DB3 Slight Risk Enough uncertainty over expected returns to warrant close monitoring of country risk. Customers should actively manage their risk exposures.

DB4 Moderate Risk Significant uncertainty over expected returns. Risk-averse customers are advised to protect against potential losses.

DB5 High Risk Considerable uncertainty associated with expected returns. Businesses are advised to limit their exposure and/or select high-return transactions only.

DB6 Very High Risk Expected returns subject to large degree of volatility. A very high expected return is required to compensate for the additional risk or the cost of hedging such risk.

DB7 Highest Risk Returns are almost impossible to predict with any accuracy. Businessinfrastructure has, in effect, broken down.
