Chaperone Requirements Pre-K – Grade 1: One adult is required for every five children Grade 2 and up: One adult is required for every ten children Teachers, and required chaperones, are included in the program fee and must be with the group upon arrival. Please advise upon booking if you have educational assistants or care aids supervising students that require extra support, for these adults will be admitted free of charge, but will not count toward the supervisor requirements. All additional adults will be charged the regular admission rate. Fees & Payment Payment must be received in full on or before the date of the program. Cancellation Policy In the event that you wish to cancel your program booking, written confirmation of your cancellation is required more than 24 hours prior to the start time of the booking. Written confirmation can be delivered to the Lloydminster Cultural & Science Centre in person or by e-mail, fax, or mail. If cancellation is received less than 24 hours prior to the start time of the booking, the cancellation charge will be 100% of the booking fee. The LCSC reserves the right to cancel bookings in the following circumstances: • Inclement weather conditions • Unforeseen safety considerations • Facility or equipment problems or closures • Instructor or staff unavailability • Program or service materials unavailability In the event that your program is cancelled you will be notified as soon as possible prior to the start date and will receive a full refund. Refunds are issued as a cheque through the City of Lloydminster’s Finance Department. Pioneers on the Prairies: Promised LandAvailable May - September

This program is weather dependent, refer to Cancellation Policy.

(90 minutes)

Grades: 1 – 4

Travel back to 1903 and follow the footsteps of the Barr Colonists as they made their way to the Canadian prairies. Experience a day in the life, as students explore challenges and successes early settlers would have faced. This hands-on program is run seasonally. Please prepare to be outdoors.

Price: $125 for up to 25 students ($5 per additional student, maximum of 30)

Dinosaur Discovery(90 minutes)

Grades: Pre-K – 3

Students will explore the age of dinosaurs through various hands-on activities and will be introduced to dinosaurs that were discovered primarily in Alberta and Saskatchewan. Students will play the role of paleontologists, search for hidden fossils and participate in a variety of discovery stations to promote inquiry learning.

Price: $125 for up to 25 students ($5 per additional student, maximum of 30)

Nature’s Wonders(90 minutes)

Grades: Pre-K – 3

Students will examine physical and behavioural characteristics in a variety of animals, with a focus on local wildlife and their adaptations to help them survive. Sensory activities will help students investigate the five traditional external senses in humans and animals.

Grades: 5 – 12

Students will learn about the purpose of masks in art and drama, as well as the functions of masks in different cultures throughout history. Using plaster strips and plastic facial forms, students will create their own unique masks. You will be contacted once they have dried, and the masks will be available for you to pick up and take back to the classroom to decorate.

Grades: 3 – 6

Students will work together to learn the process of making handmade paper and will use these techniques to design paper with their own personal touch. After the paper has been dried and pressed, you will be contacted to pick it up. The paper can then be used for classroom activities, such as letter-writing and card-making.

Grades: 5 – 12

Price: $160 for up to 20 students ($8 per additional student, maximum of 25)

In the first part of this program, students will gain a basic understanding of the properties of this versatile medium and will learn basic hand-building methods and techniques. Students will also be given the opportunity to create their own unique pottery pieces. A minimum of 10 days’ drying time is required, after which the pieces will be bisque-fired so they can be painted in your classroom. You will be notified when pieces are ready for pick up.

SnowshoeingAvailable November- February

Grades: 6 – 12

Join the LCSC for a brand new outdoor education program! Students will learn the history of snowshoes, including what they are and how they were used as well as how they impact various cultures. The program will also include an interpretive walk through Weaver Park and the LCSC compound using snowshoes, where various games and activities will occur. The program will end at the Log Cabin where we will warm up with a hot drink. Please be prepared for winter conditions.

Price: $125 for up to 30 students, instructor led. $50 for up to 30 students, self-guided (includes resource package and snowshoes)
