Establishment of an internship programdesigned to assist members of the community toacquire skills needed for broadcast employment.

WFTS hosted a summer intern who worked from6/8/20 to 8/14/20. This intern supported ourNews operations, as well as taking part inprojects/case studies at Corporate.

Establishment of training programs designed toenable station personnel to acquire skills thatcould qualify them for higher level positions.

WFTS employees participate in The E.W.Scripps Company's Career ManagementProgram that includes training to helpemployees develop their career skills. Inaddition, all WFTS employees enjoy theopportunity to pursue career advancementthrough online training in station-related skillssuch as management and leadership, careergrowth planning, job interviewing, and a varietyof specific skill-sets. This eLearning system isalso used for EEO training and other mandatorycompliance training.

Participation in at least four events or programssponsored by educational institutions relating tocareer opportunities in broadcasting.

11/4/19: WFTS held a tour comprised ofstudents from University of Tampa'sCommunications 325 Writing for BroadcastNews class. About 15 students and professorcame to tour, which lasted about 90 minutes.Time was spent discussing news writing for TVand writing for digital publication, internships,streaming changes, and social media.

1/10/20: 15 students from Pride Elementaryvisited us on January 10th, 2020 to learn aboutcareers in the news business. They spent theday touring the whole station and learning aboutwhat each role does. They learned about newsliteracy and how news decisions are made.These students produce the school's morningnews show daily.

1/10/20: Students from Brooks DeBartoloCollegiate High School visited the station onJanuary 10th, 2020. They were here to both tourthe station and produce their own story forScripps News Literacy week. They conductedinterviews in our studio to use in their piece onthe effects of Social Media on Teenagers. Theirstory aired in ABC Action News and newscastsacross the country in Scripps owned stations.The students learned how to pick a story,research for the story, schedule and conductinterviews, and then write and edit a finalproduct.

Since 10/1/19 and through 2/6/20, MeteorologistGreg Dee has visited schools in our viewing areaa total of 36 different times to give talks aboutcareers in meteorology and, specifically,meteorology in journalism. These talks makestudents aware of various careers that they maywish to pursue in journalism. Greg will continueto visit more schools through out 2020.

On 2/20/20, Investigative Reporter Adam Walserspoke to three groups of high school students atCarrollwood Day School yesterday about careersin television news.

All management level employees are required tocomplete training courses which are aimed atensuring equal opportunity and preventingdiscrimination.
