Dear Parents and Students,
I hope that as many parents and community members as
possible can make it to this Friday’s Whole School Assembly,
which starts at 2.30pm. The Primary Class have been working
on a play and they are keen to present it to a large (and
hopefully appreciative!) audience. This will be preceded by a
P&C meeting, which will begin at 1.00pm. You are welcome to
come along and find out what’s happening in our school.
Last week a flyer regarding compulsory school attendance was
sent home for parents to read. Many of our children have
excellent attendance, but it is very important that whenever your child needs to
be away, an explanation (either written or verbal) is given. Unfortunately at the
moment this is not occurring on a regular basis. Please ensure that all absences
are explained. There is a page of absence notes on the back of this newsletter
which should be kept and used when necessary.
Next Wednesday our school has been invited to assist in the building of a mud
brick cubby house at the Botanical Gardens at Batemans Bay. Please read the
note in this newsletter and return the permission note promptly. There is no cost
involved.
I would like to thank Tisha, who has been chosen to be the accompanying parent on
the Year 3-6 three day excursion to Mogo. Thank
you to the other mums who offered their time as
well. We leave three weeks from today – permission
notes and medical forms will be sent home later this
week. Please return these with payment by November 9th at the latest. If there is any
concern about the cost, please contact me at
school.
This Friday is the last day for return of the
Communications Survey. We have only had a
small number of responses so far, so please
take a little time to complete this and return
to the school.
Have a good week.
Regards,
John Carter, Principal

PREVENTING FALLS FROM WINDOWS AND BALCONIES AND MAKING OUR HOMES SAFE FOR KIDS
With the warmer weather upon us, it is timely to remind parents and carers about how to prevent children falling from
opening windows and balconies. There are steps we can all take to keep our homes safe for kids. Attached to this
newsletter is a brochure and fridge magnet with some great tips and reminders to help all parents/carers make their

WHOLE SCHOOL EXCURSION
EUROBODALLA BOTANIC GARDENS
MUD BRICK BUILDING DAY
NEXT WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 7th Eurobodalla Shire Council have invited local schools to an exciting educational opportunity to enhance children’s understanding of
sustainability models, sense of play and make a contribution to the development of a wonderful community resource. Children will be using MUD - this building material has been used for centuries and requires no
burning of fossil fuels, it’s fun and great for your skin (and our planet). Blurring the lines between work and play, Council’s ‘Mud Play and Build’
is a community project to design and build a mud cubby house in the Eurobodalla Regional Botanic Gardens. The cubby will enrich the new children’s playground that has been taking shape. Students will learn
about this sustainable building medium in a natural botanic classroom. Students will laugh, roll and get muddy as they are inducted and
instructed by trained mud brick chefs. The recipe, process, method and demeanour of our students will
contribute to the goal of 1500 mud bricks. There is no cost for this activity as Council have kindly agreed to pay for bus transport. Students will come to school in their school uniform and will need to bring a plastic bag with old clothes, old hat and old sneakers/gum boots (or bare feet) which they will change into on arrival at the Botanic Gardens. They will also need an old towel to dry off with after washing the mud off at the end of the day and will then change back into their school uniform. Students who do not bring a change of clothes will not be able to participate in this activity at the Gardens as children cannot get onto the bus in muddy clothes (and they WILL get muddy). All students are expected to participate in this whole school excursion as there will be NO supervision at school for students on that day. Please sign the permission note below and return to the school by this Friday - do NOT leave it until the morning of the excursion to return your note as the bus will be leaving as soon as the bell goes. Students will be back at school in time for the afternoon buses.
REMINDER - WHAT TO BRING LIST: Fruit break, plenty of lunch and recess snacks for the day
Water bottle
Old clothes, hat and sneakers/gum boots
Old towel
Good sized, strong plastic bag for dirty, wet clothes and towel
Your best behaviour!!
