months. Rounds of golf completed at other venues for a member representing Emerald Lakes will count toward the minimum 10 handicap

competition rounds required by a member.

RULES FOR MULTIPLE GAMES

The handicap from the first round is to be used when determining final results in multiple round events. This handicap is as shown on golf link

on the day of the comp even if the results from a previous week has not been recorded by the time the first members on the day tee off.

Respective daily comps played as part of a multiple round event are done so under a player’s handicap as of that day.

Member infringements must be reported to club management in writing by the witnessing member/s.

PROTESTS & DISPUTES

All players are governed by the Rules Of Golf and the regulations set out in this manual. The match committee’s decision in all competitions

will be final. A protest or dispute in connection with any competition or match shall be made in writing to the match committee immediately

on completion of play in such competition or match. The Rules Of Golf and the Local rules of the Club are the rules of play. The match

committees consist of three (3) elected committee members.

RETURN OF CARDS

competition cards must be signed by the player and the marker and placed in the score box within 15 minutes of the completion of the final

group’s round. The player is responsible for all details on the card. Once the card is placed in the score box it may not be altered or amended

in any way.

MOTORISED CARTS

Motorised golf carts where possible should remain on the concrete paths and care should be taken to avoid all plants and trees, concrete

edging, bunkers and in particular areas of soft wet ground. Players found not abiding by these conditions may be denied use of motorised

carts and subject to a two stroke penalty.

SAND BUCKETS

Carrying and using sand buckets when playing on the course is compulsory. Any player who fails to comply with the regulation may be

disqualified from the competition concerned. All divots should be filled with sand, including divots made on tees and during practice swings.

SLOW PLAY

It is a condition of play that each group must endeavour to keep up with the group in front (not ahead of the group behind). The lowest

handicap player is responsible for the group to ensure they keep their place in the field. Any group found to be out of position at any time,

and reported to Match Committee, may be issued a warning letter and further reported breaches may then result in a two-stroke penalty.

The marking of cards must not cause delay if it is your honour. You must be ready to tee-off once you reach the next teeing ground. Ready

golf must be played in all competitions, except championships. When playing on or near putting green, bags and carts should not be left in

front of the green but still be left in such a position as to enable quick movement off the green.

SWINGERS

INDIVIDUAL STABLEFORD

A Stableford competition is a golf tournament in which the object is to get the highest score. Stableford points are awarded on each hole in

the following manner.

• More than one over nett par (or no score returned) 0 points

• One over nett par 1 point

• Nett par 2 points

• One under nett par 3 points

• Two under nett par 4 points

• Three under nett par 5 points

• Four under nett par 6 points

Rules related to stableford competitions can be found in the official Rules of Golf.

FOUR BALL BEST BALL STABLEFORD

The Stableford scoring system is used for this competition. However, in a 4BBB Stableford two players play as partners and the hole is played

by each of them, using their individual full handicap. At the completion of each hole, the player recording the highest number of Stableford

points is the score that is chosen as the teams score.

FOUR BALL AGGREGATE STABLEFORD

This competition is played with a partner as in 4BBB Stableford event. In this event both players Stableford points are recorded for each hole.

The total aggregate score for the round is the teams’ 4BBB Aggregate Stableford score.

MIXED FOURSOMES

Men off Odds & Ladies off Evens

AMBROSE HANDICAPS

All players hit off from the tee. The team captain (preferably the lowest handicap player) decides which ball is in the best position. The

selected ball is marked, and other team members will place their ball within one club length, no nearer the hole. Placing the ball will apply

through the green – ie) in the rough and bunkers also. The penalty area rules excepting bunkers will still apply.

On the putting surface the ball must be placed within 15cm (card length) of the marked position of the selected ball, no nearer the hole.

Each member of the team putts from this position. This procedure is continued until the ball is in the hole. Each team member must use the

following number of their tee shots and this must be recorded on the card by the scorer

This event can be played as a Two, Three or Four ball competition.

• 2 Person Team - 6 drives - 1/4 of combined Handicap

• 3 Person Team - 4 drives - 1/6 of combined Handicap

• 4 Person Team - 3 drives - 1/8 of combined Handicap

AMERICAN FOURSOMES

American Foursomes is played with a partner and both players tee off at each hole, then play a second shot with their respective partner’s

ball. Players then decide which ball is in the best position and the other ball is taken out of play. Play proceeds as in foursomes with the owner

of the ball selected playing the third stroke. Play continues on an alternative basis until the hole is completed. Handicap calculated by 3/8

of the aggregate of team member’s individual handicaps

Page 11: Emerald Lakes Golf Club Members Handbook & Information€¦ · Emerald Lakes Golf Club Members Handbook & Information . 2 CONSTITUTION & RULES NAME The name of the Club will be known

11

FOURSOMES

The team handicap is half the aggregate of both partners handicap.

Foursome is basically a stroke event played with a partner and using only one ball. The rules for foursomes require both partners to hit off from

alternative tees. The order of play is determined prior to hitting off. Once the player has teed off, the partners hit the ball alternatively until

the hole is completed. Note: If either player incurs a penalty stroke, it does not alter the order of play. This includes the playing of a provisional

ball. Scoring is identical to the method used for stroke play and the card should show both gross and nett scores after handicap deduction.

V PAR

Firstly, you need to determine your own par for each hole. Par competition challenges you to beat your own par. (EG: a handicap of 18

would get 1 shot on each hole, therefore on hole 1 their par would be 5, hole 2 would be 6 and hole 3 would be 4. If the player betters their

par they get a + (plus) for the hole. If you equal the hole you have said to halved or squared the hole with a 0. If par is not achieved, a minus

sign is recorded. At the end of each nine holes and at the end of the round, this is calculated by deducting the number of minuses from the

plusses. Halved holes marked with a 0 are not considered and are not taken into account when determining the result, the only exception is

when all holes are “0” then the result will be “0” even. The player with the highest score will be the winner. When scoring the card, note that

the stroke score must always be shown for the holes where the player has halved or beaten the hole.

CANADIAN FOURSOMES

Handicap calculated by 3/8 of the aggregate of team member’s individual handicaps.

Canadian foursomes is played with a partner and both players tee off on all holes.

The players then decide which ball is in the best position and the other ball is taken out of play. If player A’s ball is selected then player B will

hit the next shot. Play continues on an alternative basis until the hole is completed. Incurring a penalty shot does not affect the order of play.

This includes the playing of a provisional ball.

award is not necessarily for the lowest handicap junior but may include a junior who has shown excellent character and steady golf

improvement throughout the year. The selection process is to be carried out by the committee and ELGC management.

OPEN PENNANT AND INTERCLUB SELECTION & MANAGEMENT

OPEN PENNANT QUALIFICATION

Male players who wish to play in the ELGC Open Pennant team are to register their interest to management. Players may be required to play

in qualifying rounds as determined by club management & the committee.

INTERCLUB TEAM

The Saturday Committee aids funding, selects and manages the male interclub golf teams for the Interclub Pennants. The committee provides

golf balls and water for each of the teams and ELGC Management provides representative shirts, caps and provides meals for all players

when hosting the event.

INTERCLUB SELECTION

A Selection Committee will be appointed by the committee at the start of each term. The interclub competition is divided into 3 grades in

handicap brackets set by the Gold Coast District Golf Association. A squad of 8 players for each grade will be selected from player results in

the months leading up to the first round and a captain will be appointed from each squad. Club members who are eligible will be asked to

nominate for selection in March of the competition year. Club Matchplay Champions in A, B and C grade will be granted automatic

selection, should they wish. The D Grade Matchplay Champion will gain automatic selection if their handicap is within the scope of the C

Grade handicap bracket set by the GCDGA.

INTERCLUB MANAGEMENT

A manager will be appointed from within the committee if possible, or a suitable club member in the event a member of the committee is

not available. The manager is responsible for collecting the golf balls and water for each match and distributing to teams at the course on

the day. The manager will also co-ordinate playing day teams with the captains, ensuring that all squad members are given games in the

first 3 rounds. Subsequent matches will be selected on results over the first 3 rounds. Captains are to be briefed on their role by the Club

Captain, which will include etiquette, commitment to the team and communication between players, captains and manager. In all cases

the club’s reputation is paramount and all members representing the club will be advised of their responsibilities in such regard.
