Internet Connectivity

Our global broadband IP backbone with carrier-class routing and

switches, transfers in and outgoing IP traffic from the Internet to

your server farm and again back into the Internet. The on-net

infrastructure ensures high availability, fast response times and

quality of service and direct connectivity to all major internet

exchanges around the world, as well as network termination with

more than 500 leading global networks through direct peering.

Security Solutions

The latest firewalls and content security appliances protect your

data against unauthorised access.

The security solutions can deliver:

� identity management providing secure application access and management according to your security policy

� controlled access from the public internet so that your administrators and editors will have a secure connection to the hosting platform

� protection against malicious code, spam, trojans, and denial of service attacks on your hosting solution.

Traffic Management

Individual servers often do not cope with the high volume inquiries

they face, so we use traffic controllers to distribute the load

transparently by individual routes to several systems. This has the

benefit of increased output and a higher availability at load peaks.

Traffic controlling can also steer data between different data

centre locations.

Front-end

Web and Application Servers perform the primary work of the

hosting solution. They also represent the presentation layer of a

solution. Web servers will deliver the content to the end users

supported by the application servers which will compile the

information.

Back-end

This layer contains the database service and storage systems that

store e-commerce data such as product catalogues, user

information, and shipping information.

The structure of front-end and back-end servers differs in each

hosting environment. This will depend very strongly on your

individual requirements. There are different storage system options

(dedicated or shared) and often customers will have several

systems, for the different tasks, in place. Through the economical

our new data centres prove it. Working with Equinix, winner

of the Green Award and Best Disaster Recovery Service at

the 2008 Data Centre Europe Awards, the Easynet Slough

data centre, for example, was carefully designed to lower

energy consumption while minimising environmental impact.

Continued investment occurs into latest cooling and power

usage equipment. In the case of the Amsterdam Data centre

this is now using a free air cooling technology to support the

efficient use of the power with in the data centre. Easynet

also seeks to procure its power from sources of renewable

energy such as hydro and wind power to minimise the
