Research suggests that:
Higher levels of social engagement among older adults is associated with lower mortality rates, dementia risk, and depressive symptoms Journal of Women and Aging
Older adults participating in art programs reported higher rating of physical health, fewer doctor visits, less medication, and fewer instances of falls The Gerontologist

Social and productive activities are as effective as fitness activities in lowering the risk of death BMJ

Meeting the Demand
• 10,000 Americans turn 65 every day
• 23.5 percent of Americans age 65-plus volunteered in 2015
• Older adults had the highest average hours of service of any age group

Preliminary Findings
• Majority of members signing on are self
reporting significantly higher on the loneliness
score as compared to the national average.
• Members are self-reporting a sense of increased
community connectedness.
• Early indications show increased time intervals
between health care visits & cost of utilization.
