The California Gold Rush began on January 24, 1848-1858. Gold was found by James W. Marshall. It was found at Sutter’s Mill in Coloma, California.

The first people to hear about the Gold Rush were people in Oregon, Sandwhich Island in Hawaii, and Latin America.

The Gold Rush brought 300,000 people to California.

The gold worth billions of dollars was found and therefore meant great wealth for a few.
