What have you learnt from your audience feedback?

When devising my horror trailer, I decided to create a questionnaire for my target audience, to help gain an insight into what they expect in a horror trailer, with this feedback I could then used it to help implement it into my final trailer. When looking at the feedback and the results it was salient to me the genre, many preferred dramatically. This was important, as I now knew what would appeal to my target audience, thanks to the research, which I had undertaken.

Audience Feedback. From the completed questionnaires I was able to find out, what was the age of my audiences their gender and what they thought or expected to be in that of a horror trailer.

• From the feedback I was also to gather exactly who would be going to view my film. With a specific audience in mind it allowed me to design and develop my film trailer with the audiences feedback.

• Also by finding out my target audiences average age enabled me to create a film that would conform to the BBFC’s guidelines for a “15” rated film.

• The questionnaires feedback was also important in helping me decided paramount aspects and factors of my horror trailer’s narrative.

• The audience’s feedback on factors such as “the type of antagonist they expect” majority stated that they expect “A serial killer” I listened and took this feedback on board and used in when developing my trailer.

• I also gained feedback from my audience on new questionnaires “what they considered to be the most important in that of a horror film”

• A majority agreed that “low-key lighting” was. This helped me implement this within my products especially the trailer.

Audience Feedback• I also found it extremely useful to research similar films through

the use of sites such as IMDB. I looked at profiles comparable for example “The Hills Have Eyes”, and “Hostel” and viewed the different audiences that viewed their content giving me an idea of who would view mine.

• After the production of my horror film trailer, I took my trailer and showed people the footage and asked for their live response, here are some of their responses (Attached to blog)

• When showing my film trailer to members of the public, I asked for their opinion on both the film poster and magazine front cover.

Some Audience ResponsesMany people commented on the fol lowing:

• Lighti ng: How eff ecti ve the use of l ighti ng is to enhance both my horror poster and magazine front cover and how the low key l ight gives the front cover a scary aura and sets a negati ve overal l atmosphere.

• Content: Many people commented on the si lhouett e on the poster, this immediately created intrigue and elements of enigma. They also l iked the consistency with the woods being shown on al l here products and the typography. The audience immediately picked up on the use of contrasti ng colours of bad and good. (Dark woods and edited l ightened main image). They also considered the magazine front cover, to represent the horror genre well , as the characters stance and facial expression made him appear as if he is on edge and lost which shift s onto the audience and puts them on edge and intr igues them to view the fi lm and purchase the magazine.
