Evaluation Question 3:

What have i learned from audience feedback?

Page 2: Evaluation question 3

Throughout the process of creating my music video, digipak and advert i have found that audience feedback is really important in the

process and can really make a product!! Constructive criticism does help!

When we were doing research and planning for our product we did a survey. This really helped up to know what our audience and target audience

wanted our music video to be like....

Pitch To The Class:

The very first thing we did was carry out a pitch to the class and our teachers, we had to pitch our song idea. Which was; Rihanna 'Only girl in the

world'.

From doing this presentation we found that we had to link the visuals to the music and include a

narrative and different locations.

From our feedback we also found that we needed lip syncing throughout.

Focus Pitch To OurTarget Audience:

Page 6: Evaluation question 3

I gathered a group of people that were our target audience and presented our ideas to them

This was to see if they understood the plot and to see if our ideas were appropriate for our audience too.

This presentation was to show our ideas on; plot, narrative, cinematography, audience demands, genre,

conventions.

For example we now know that we need a clear, established brand image, which followed the conventions and this was not evident in our

presentation at all.

Even just learning this about brand identity was really useful feedback which was essential for our process.

Audience feedback is really important as without it we would have included half of the things we did.

We learned more when we asked specific questions; this is why we carried out a questionnaire as well as a survey.

As we think audience feedback and input is crucial.

I think that the thing that audience feedback helped with most was definitely the mise-en-scene and brand image, also the ideas for cinematography – having lots of close ups, and fun locations.

You can see that we have taken all of this feedback on board and included it in our final music video.

Conducting A Survey:

We found that our audience wanted our artist to wear casual clothing, that still made her stand out. But something that the audience could copy! This feedback helped us with the influence of our choices when it came to brand image.

From doing this survey we obtained information which really helped us as we knew what the audience wanted us to include in our final music video production.

The main thing the audience wanted was for the artist to be fashionable and stylish so we really had to focus on the brand image and have a clear idea of what we were going to do. This audience feedback really helped us!

Brand Image:

Page 15: Evaluation question 3

The brand image that we created needed to be appropriate for our age group and target audience.

We did some research on some pop artist and were going to base our brand image on, some of these ideas

were also generated by our peers in class;

-Selena Gomez

-Beyonce

-Taylor Swift

-Rita Ora

-Britney Spears

We decided that the main two were going to be Selena Gomez as she is very glam! And Tylor Swift as her

style you can relate to, but we were going to make it a bit more edgy. Also we found out that both of these

artist often wear red lipstick!

Comments:

On YouTube you can comment your opinion on the video below. A few people commented:

Aimee Harper: I really like the arcade scene! The bright colours are really genre appropriate and make the video really fun!

Kellie Davies: My favourite scene is in the dance studio as it all looks really professional, with the routine and all the lighting!

Page 18: Evaluation question 3

From people commenting on YouTube we know that we have included things that our target audience like and that fits the

genre!

Page 19: Evaluation question 3

When we showed our target audience our final music video production they all agreed that it

was a very fun 'clean cut' pop video.

We took on board lots of feedback which contributed to our final video and I learned that

audience feedback is really important!

It enabled us to tweak our video in different ways in order to meet audience demands and still hit criteria of including appropriate conventions.

Audience Feedback When Creating Our

Digipak:Myself and Sara each created a digipak and then combined our ideas. We then presented to the class. This was useful as it helped us improve and made sure

we included all of the key elements of a digipak.

We video'd our presentation as we then could look back on the feedback and reflect on what we needed to do.

Again this helped us get a better understanding of what our audience wanted.

We went througha process of creating our digipaks:

-We discussed our album and artist name.

-Myself and sara each created one.

-We combined our ideas.

-Presented to the class.

-Then improved.

Generating A Name...

When we were generating ideas for our artists name we also asked the class for their feedback again. This was to ensure we had a unique, original name for our artist!

I learned that it was really important that we asked the class as their input is really important, as we need to find out the type of artist they want!

Page 23: Evaluation question 3
Page 24: Evaluation question 3

After finding out our feedback we knew that we wanted all of the focus to be on the artist. Also

that we had to have a theme. We chose to have a red theme throughout, as you can see with the

red flowers, and red lips, also we tinted the lights to be red on the panel were she is

performing at a concert.

We found out that we needed a theme from our audience feedback!

Page 25: Evaluation question 3

Our digipak: After finding out vital information from our survey and class members, and creating a

brand image. We then knew that we had to carry on this image in our digipak and advert too! Not just our music video. So that we kept the theme the same.

Page 26: Evaluation question 3
Page 27: Evaluation question 3

As you can see in our digipak we carried on the theme only 'glammed' it up a bit more.

Which is why we went for the classic little black dress, and carried on the theme of the red

lipstick. On the digipak the hair and make up is also more glam too! Which myself and my group

member think works really well!

As it also fits the pop genre.

Our Final Advert:

The Process:

Page 30: Evaluation question 3

Advert Feedback:

Page 31: Evaluation question 3

Our Feedback:Our feedback from our advert was to make the artist the main front image, include reviews, and have a large clear title. To draw the audience in.

You can clearly see that we have taken this feedback on board. In our final advert.

This audience feedback was really important as without it we would have missed key features of an advert. So the constructive criticism was very helpful in the process of creating a successful,

professional advert.

Page 32: Evaluation question 3

In our advert I wore a fashionable top. But as it is a picture of just my face we focused on hair and

make up too. Making sure we carried on the theme, pleasing the audience.

Examples of the fashionable top,

glam hair and make up

Location:

In the survey we then asked questions about location: it was unrealistic to film in a town centre, as it would be very difficult to get

permission from the council and you also need permission from everyone else in the video.

Even if they were just walking past in the background. But we still wanted our product to

look professional so had to opt for other locations. Some were difficult as we had to get permission for filming there, but we found that

these locations worked just as well!

Page 34: Evaluation question 3

So instead of the town centre we decided to film in a professional dance studio, a large open park

and a fun arcade!

I did research and found that some of these locations are very suitable for our genre. As

there is an arcade in Rihanna's 'We found love' video.

Page 35: Evaluation question 3

Dance Studio:

In the dance studio we included a performance as we found out that this is what the audience wanted us to

incorporate into our music video.

Page 36: Evaluation question 3

To Conclude...

Overall, through all of these stages I have learned that audience feedback and input is crucial

when creating different products.

However, you do need your own individual input to make sure that it is your product, and your

creativity.
