Evaluation Question 3:

What Have You Learned

From Your Audience

Feedback?

By Chloe Yearsley

Introduction

In this presentation, I'm going to be briefly explaining

different aspects of audience feedback and how much I could

develop my skills into creating music videos. I will do this by

conducting a questionnaire and analyzing their feedback and

opinions about my music video.

However, in this presentation will demonstrate some of the

main points about target audience and their feedback. In

some slides, I will be explaining them in more detail below.

This will be much more of a detail analysis explaining the key

points I have produced on this presentation.

About Target Audience

Target audience has a massive impact on different types of

media. In this case a music video. When creating a music

video, you will have to create a target audience. A target

audience is a specific age group in which the music video is

aimed at. For example, Nicki Minaj’s target audience is

aimed at an older generation such as 16+ years as her

videos are explicit and sexual. This wouldn't’t be a target

audience aimed at the younger generation. In my music

video, my target audience is mostly aimed at teenagers

aimed 13+ as there has violence and bloody gory scenes

within. However, there are different ratings for certain types

of music videos as some might be explicit and have to

create another version to be age-appropriate.

How Target Audience Impacts

My Chosen Age Group

However, I’m aware that my chosen target audience can have a

massive impact towards my music video as this might not meet the

criteria of their opinions in my music video. Therefore, meaning

there wont be much popularity about my music videos like some

other music videos have because their a certain element they might

have produced that has the public talking which is increasing their

popularity.

Like I have said in the previous slide, every media piece that

someone does have to have a specific age group for them to

complete their project of some kind. In this case, as I was doing a

song that was about toxic, death etc. I knew instantly that this

wouldn't’t be suitable for young children. This is why I have aimed

my target audience 13+ as I knew that my music video would

contain violence and blood scenes.

Technical Weaknesses

There are many technical weaknesses to do with target

audiences and the media (music video in this case). When I

created my target audience before my planning, my planning

might not meet the criteria of where my target audience

stands as there might be a technical defect that is stopping

this from happening. For example, as my target audience is

aimed at 13 years and over, I might not have enough blood

and gore in my music video as I thought I would. This

wouldn't’t be meeting the criteria of my original target

audience. I would act on this by either changing my target

audience to make it more age-appropriate or re-film scenes

where they SHOULD have more blood and gore to reach the

criteria of the rating.

Conducting A Questionnaire

Towards My Target Audience

I have created a target audience in my blog beforehand

however, this was before the final version of my music video

was completed. I thought I would conduct another

questionnaire to see the opinions of individuals on my music

video. Once I have got the results back, I will then analyze

and evaluate of there views.

I will be handing out 30 questionnaires to be able to get a

valid conclusion of the audiences feedback. This will enable

to understand there point of view while also finding out what

skills I need to develop in future references.

Final Questionnaire…

Results…

When receiving the results, I quickly went through

individually to be able to get a basis of how the audience

responded. On the majority of questionnaires, they liked the

music video and my highly developed skill as how I produced

the make-up to make the zombies look real in my music

video.

Analysis Of Results

The results will be evaluated and analyzed below this

presentation.

What Have I Learned From

The Questionnaire’s

Feedback?I have learnt of how well my skills are when it comes to mise en scene as most of the anonymous questionnaires have stated that this was well presented when demonstrating the protagonists and the antagonist. This surprised me as I thought this was one of my lowest points of the music video.

This also made me realise of what didn't’t go se well in the music video. For example, non of the questionnaires mentioned about the different camera angles. This might be because the audience didn't’t think that there was enough. This is something for me to consider for next time.

I will be explaining this more in detail below after I have analyzed my results from questionnaires.

Conclusion

As there is still much more for me to cover for this evaluation

question. I can honestly say that audience has a massive

impact on the music video as this enables the music video to

gain popularity to be the ‘most talked about’ object. It isn't

just this that had come to my attention but making sure that

you meet the criteria for the music video to be age-

appropriate is also important. Just like films, music videos

also get an age rating. If its over 18 they will consist of doing

another version of the song and sometimes the music video.

This is called the ‘clean’ version. For example, Robin Thicke,

Blurred Lines. This contained nudity in the explicit music

video but had to edit it to be able to be released on TV as the

clean version.
