The disciples were sent by the Lord with a plan. They carried out precise instructions (Lk. 10: 3-

8). They had a clear goal in mind: heal the sick and announce the Kingdom of God (Lk. 10:9) ;

make all the nations disciples; baptize in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit

(Mt. 28: 17-20). Once again, the Lord is sending us out to evangelize, to transform with the

force of the Gospel the social structures and traditions. We want to do it; we are ready to go.

What is the plan? A plan to be a joint pastoral action of the whole Church.

The plan we present today is a result of a long way run by the people of God in the Diocese of

Palm Beach. Three previous plans were applied following the mandate of the U.S Conference of

Catholic Bishops (Hispanic Pastoral Plan 1987; Encuentro y Misión, 2002). These plans have

been fashioned in ecclesial unity from the people, with the people, for the people, considering

the pastoral needs by consultation with the community liaisons by deaneries, and delegates

from the parishes at the Encuentros, to determine the priorities and main lines of pastoral work.

Parishes will adopt this plan as a guide to be applied to the specific circumstances, and adapt it

to the point of pastoral development and maturity of their communities.

Why do we need a Pastoral Plan?

COMMUNION AND MISSION

These are two dimensions of our evangelizing work to strengthen the Kingdom of God in our

midst.

Surely we all know what we should do in terms of evangelization, but are we doing it? And to

what extent? Are we pleased with the presence of the Lord in the fellowship, in charity, in the

liturgy of our communities? Are we pleased with the number of brothers and sisters in our

communities? (Only 10% of our Hispanic population is attending our parishes in the Diocese of

Palm Beach).

To carry out the process of evangelization we need to show UNITY. "That all may be one, as

You Father and I are One, so that the world may believe ..." Jn. 17, 21. The unity of the

Church is an expression of Trinitarian Unity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We ourselves are not

the architects of the unity, but sometimes we hinder attitudes contrary to the spirit and

meaning of The Gospel.

The unity that comes from CHURCH COMMUNION is what makes us the Holy Catholic and

apostolic Church. This unity in building the Kingdom of God helps feel the Body of Christ and

identify with the strategies of the Universal Church. This is Pastoral Action , because it is

unified in the inspiring work of the Holy Spirit in our pastors, in the Magisterium of the Church

and is carried through all means available in parishes and in our places of evangelization.

Pastoral work means to follow the guidelines provided to us by our pastors, beginning with the

Holy Father, the bishops conference, our Diocesan Bishop in union with the priests. They are

the guides of pastoral strategies that point us to fulfill the Mission that the Lord entrusted to

the apostles and all his disciples: to perform the MISSION we all are called. The mission of

evangelizing the world is no individual task; it is natural within the Church Community. The

testimony of unity and communion in church is only made in "clusters".

WHY A PASTORAL PLAN?

If no action is planned in terms of goals, objectives, strategies, resources, and if not

evaluated to see the horizon and the path, an action becomes scattered and ineffective,

and can stay stagnant or backward in relation to the new requirements of the reality in

which we live.

A Pastoral Plan is an organized and methodical proposal that shows steps to follow. A

Pastoral Plan gives us the opportunity to review our work and know if we are making

progress on a safe road.

The Pastoral work usually results in PROGRAMS. The parishes have a range of programs

for every need of their parishioners, and pastoral work is usually limited to those programs

just like a medicine cabinet answers to every need. These programs have served for several

years, usually administered by the same people, without questioning its effectiveness.

Therefore, a proposal for a Pastoral Plan generally stops with the phrase: "why re-invent

the wheel?" Or, "we do not need more programs and more headaches." iii-iii

COMMUNION, MISSION, PARTICIPATION

The answer to these questions, we insist, is Pastoral Plan based on PROCESSES rather than

programs. This means that although the programs are necessary and should always be

kept, the purpose of a Pastoral Plan is fundamental to integrating many faithful in the

process of Evangelization and Mission of the Church.

The document "Encuentro and Mission" by the Conference of the catholic Bishops (2002)

begins to articulate the areas of pastoral plan with the phrase: New Evangelization and .

New Evangelization and Training, New Evangelization and Missionary Option, New

Evangelization and Pastoral de Conjunto, New Evangelization and Liturgy and Life of Prayer,

to "build vibrant communities of faith, making them more welcoming, evangelizing,

missionary and solidarity with the poor." (Encuentro and Mission, # 39.)

The Pastoral Plan is therefore a process that integrates the entire community in the

evangelization of families, youth, adults, the unchurched, and the marginalized, to

participate in the spiritual and sacramental life of the Church. Therefore, a proposal for a

Pastoral Plan generally stops with the phrase: "why re-invent the wheel?" Or, "we do not

need more programs and more headaches."

METHODOLOGY OF THE PASTORAL PLAN

1. This is a Plan originated in the People of God, guided by the Magisterium of the Church

and made for the establishment of the Kingdom of God, the growth of the People of God,

and the consolidation of the Catholic Church from the domestic Church, as member of the

Church-parish community, in communion with the diocesan Church and finally projecting

the Universal Church.

2. It is a plan based on PROCESSES, rather than PROGRAMS. The processes have a

beginning, get fed, get motivated, make the people participate so they feel involved,

recognized and fostered. Part of this process is the programs or services offered as

evidence of the suitability and availability to the communities to serve and offer solutions to

their problems or difficult situations in life. When the parishes in this pastoral work is limited

to only organizing and delivering programs, they become a model of "supermarket"

meaning people seek for sacramental services or charitable aid; they take the service and

return for what they need next. The dimensions of Evangelization, conversion, or belonging

to a community are lost.

3.The Pastoral Plan is different from a Corporate Plan. Corporate Plans are based on

production models: Input, program or action, result or product. Therefore, the design of

goals and objectives are based on achievement, measured in time, cost and statistics. The

goals and objectives in these corporate plans must be measurable short and long term.

Instead, Pastoral Plans have other evaluation parameters: GOALS ARE A HORIZON which

means vision based in the gospel values that build the kingdom of god. This cannot be

measured in figures or statistics. The OBJECTIVES are STEPS to get CLOSER TO THE

GOALS. Steps to be taken in community, in unity of purpose, in communion with the

Magisterium of the Church, the priests, the People of God (not a few "helpers of the

priest"). The objectives are community indicators that tell us that we are walking together

toward goals. communion and mission are great indicators of evaluation of a Pastoral Plan:

is there unity in the parish community? Does the community participate in the Mission of

the Church? Do the Spanish evangelize?

4.The Pastoral Plan represents the spiritual leadership and the evangelization of the pastor.

The Good Shepherd is Christ who sends us His Holy Spirit to encourage, console,

strengthen and unite. The Good Shepherd has delegated to Peter, his vicar, his Bishops,

diocesan pastors and priests, to be pastors of a concrete flock. The Pastoral work is Church

work by excellence. Ministries and Movements should be part of a Diocesan and Pastoral

Plan and don’t become small parallel churches. Similarly, the Hispanic Ministry should be

INTEGRATED (not assimilated) to the Parochial Pastoral Total Multicultural Church as one

unit. It cannot be converted in parallel churches. You have to work hard for one

COMMUNION IN MISSION (PASTORAL DE CONJUNTO).

Conceptual Framework

“Considering that the family is the image of the

Trinitarian God, and a stepping stone for

evangelization, it is required an immediate

pastoral action facing the spiritual, psychological,

and material needs of families fostering unity and

strengthening life together guided by the love of

God and the teachings of the Church.”

(Aparecida’s final document #431-435).

Definition of the Goal:

To make of Family Pastoral in its different areas a

priority in Evangelization in order to have living

and vibrant communities generating many agents

of evangelization.

Objective 1

Create in the parishes a Family Life Pastoral

Team which will be composed of married

couples, divorced, widows –with or without

children, single parents, singles adults (30

and over), elders, and common law couples,

with the purpose of fostering the growth

and strengthening of the nuclear family to

become a truly “Domestic Church”.

I. PASTORAL OF THE ECCLESIAL FAMILY

"The family heart of God, the center of Evangelization"

Strategies

• Select and train people to form the Family Life

Pastoral team by personal invitation from the

priest or community leaders, motivating one by

one from their own experience of ecclesial

commitment.

• The training of the members of this Family

Pastoral Team will be done through training

workshops, retreats, meetings and conferences.

• In order to help members to commit to the

task, the community should pray for them, find

the ways to explain the importance of the

ministry (through readings and personal

conversations with the priest), and invite them to

the trainings offered by the Diocesan office..

Objective 2

Define specific processes of evangelization

for families and create specific programs

for the different situations of family life

(married by the Sacrament, common law,

widows, single parents, single adults, and

elders).

Strategies

• Make a reliable database of families in each

parish (for potential needs).

• Approach by the Family Pastoral Team promptly

the needs of each family by showing care, ways

to refer to appropriate professionals, and follow

up.

• Identify common family problems in each

parish.

• Create in the parish a group to gather divorced,

separated, and widows, and invite candidates to

join this group and look for a “Post-Marital

Spirituality”. (This group already exists in three

parishes of the Diocese)

Page 11: ¡Evangelicemos Juntos! Let´s Evangelize Together!cdn.trustedtechexperts.com/docs/library...Mission Statement Diocese of Palm Beach, Florida 2014-2020 We the Hispanic faithful of

Page 23

• Organize and invite families to pray in couples

(three couples) in the homes, with the intent for

the participants to continue to be agents of

evangelization to other couples.

• Promote participation of spouses in parish

retreats led by the Diocese.

• Coordinate and encourage participation in the

annual Grandparents Pilgrimage, organized by

the Family Life Office of the Diocese.

• Identify men (35 and over) with a vocation to

the permanent diaconate, provide support, advice

and invite them into the process of discernment.

Objective 3

Identify critical situations in the life of

families and couples, to find and promote

the best solutions.

Strategies

• Find and refer the best ways of solution to

the problems of couples and families.

• Improve communication between couples

through prayer, directed dialogue, mediations,

lectures, workshops, spiritual guidance and

offering confession.

• Provide psychological counseling through

Catholic Charities, facilitate spiritual direction,

and motivate confession and reconciliation.

Objective 4

Promote participation of families in the

parishes in the programs offered by the

Diocese for the Formation of Agents of

Family Pastoral.

Strategies

• Encourage the prospect candidates to attend

meetings, retreats, lectures and training.

• Find accurate and effective ways to

communicate the formation programs offered by

the Diocese.

• Promote the participation and commitment in

training workshops of Agents of Evangelization of

families (pastoral team members).

Objective 5

Encourage the reception of the Sacrament

of Holy Matrimony in common law or civil

union couples.

Strategies

• Provide opportunities for married couples in the

Catholic faith to speak out (especially in their

anniversaries) their testimony of living the

Sacrament in order to help other couples make

the decision to trust God and promote

sacramental union in all irregular unions.

• Provide parochial and diocesan advice in the

annulment processes.

Page 13: ¡Evangelicemos Juntos! Let´s Evangelize Together!cdn.trustedtechexperts.com/docs/library...Mission Statement Diocese of Palm Beach, Florida 2014-2020 We the Hispanic faithful of

Page 25

Strategies

• Facilitate retreats, camps for Hispanic teens.

• Encourage youth to meet with elders, making

visits to the sick.

• Organize working teams for the community

(Habitat for Humanity, arranging gardens,

painting houses for people in need).

• Make young people aware of the help they can

provide to the elderly to teach the new

communication social networks.

II. PASTORAL ACTIONS OF TEENS AND YOUNG ADULTS

"Teens and young adults formed in evangelization"

Strategies

• Invite youth to participate in the formation of

Teen Pastoral Team with young, dynamic and

motivating members, and under the direction of

responsible, caring adults, who together will

strongly promote their participation in retreats,

workshops, retreat camps, and will identify

candidates to join the team.

• Encourage youth leadership through courses

(like the Rotary Jr. Club) and through exchange

with youth from other parishes and/or

organizations.

• Create responsibilities within the Teen Pastoral

Team (media, sports, concerts, spirituality, and

community work).

Conceptual Framework:

“It is imperative to empower the pastoral for

adolescents, according to their own style, to

guarantee their perseverance and growth in faith.

Adolescents look for an experience of friendship

with Jesus. We should provide pastoral actions

for young people, education and nurturing of

their faith as a response to the meaning and

direction of their life, and a guarantee of the

missionary commitment.” (Aparecida #442-446).

Definition of the Goal:

To bring young adults and teenagers to a

personal encounter with Jesus Christ that

transforms their lives and help them to discover

their mission and vocation in the Church and

society.

1. PASTORAL PROCESSES WITH TEENAGERS

Objective 1

Create in parishes Teen Pastoral team (13-

20 years) that fosters an environment of

youth outreach with the Risen Lord, alive

and present in their lives.

Objective 2

Provide teens the opportunity to participate

in the parish community, to live and

identify with their family and cultural

tradition.

Page 14: ¡Evangelicemos Juntos! Let´s Evangelize Together!cdn.trustedtechexperts.com/docs/library...Mission Statement Diocese of Palm Beach, Florida 2014-2020 We the Hispanic faithful of

Page 26

Objective 3

Design and implement ongoing activities

(group meetings, retreats and deepening of

faith, personal growth workshops)

Strategies

• Design through The School of Christian

Formation courses and workshops programs for

adolescents using the YOUCAT Catechism.

• Promote Theology of the Body workshops.

• Create a network (Facebook, Twitter,

Instagram, etc.) with information of interest for

teenagers: soccer tournaments, volleyball, movies

of interest, special trips and excursions for teens..

Objective 4

Promote and encourage the parishes within

the participation of adolescents (Middle

and High School) in all activities of the

Hispanic Ministry and the programs offered

by the diocese for their formation and

spiritual growth.

Strategies

• Promote events for teens giving them the

opportunity of leadership and organization,

through the parish bulletin, text messages, email,

website of the diocese.

• Encourage teens to participate in diocesan

programs: School of Christian formation, RICA,

and especially in the activities and programs of

the Social Justice Teams.

• Invite teens to join the Parish Social Justice

Team, especially in the area of internet lobbying.

• Inform and invite on the activities offered by

the diocesan Office of Youth: retreats, meetings,

camps, and training.

Strategies

• Provide workshops for high school students and

vocational discernment groups.

• Through posters and text messages promote

priestly and religious vocations.

Objective 6

Organize and promote an annual gathering

of teenagers.

Strategies

• Bring together young leaders to organize this

event.

• Encourage participation of adolescents in each

parish.

• This encounter could be outdoors (or in a Gym)

including different activities, dynamic games,

sports, music and Mass.

• To coordinate this meeting with the diocesan

Office of Youth Ministry

2. PASTORAL OF YOUNG ADULTS

(Note: This Ministry is conducted by a Priest assigned by the diocese, in conjunction

with the Office of Hispanic Ministry)

Objective 1

Encourage the participation of young adults

(21 to 35) from each parish in the programs

organized by the diocesan Pastoral for

Young Adults, and offer opportunities of

prayer, service and formation, being aware

that many working Hispanic young adults

who live by themselves, develop a sense of

belonging to the Catholic Church through

pastoral activities, prayer groups, and

service to the Church.

Strategies

• Each parish will assign responsible servers who

will bring other young adults to participate in

parish and diocesan programs specially designed

for them.

• Sponsor the participation of young adults in

leadership training by the South East Pastoral

Institute (SEPI) in programs like Pastoral

Leadership, Farm workers’ Ministry, and Young

Adult Easter program).

III. PASTORAL FORMATION AND DYNAMICS FOR EVANGELIZATION

"To Prepare the people of God according to the service each one is called to serve" (Aparecida

#27)

Definition of the goal:

To promote and expand the coverage and

attendance of the diocesan and parish formation

programs: School of Christian Formation, Ministry

training, Catechist formation, parenting,

parenting school, in order to have a better

theological educated laity in our parishes.

Objective 1

Spread information on diocesan Workshops

and courses of the School of Christian

Formation, through the means available to

parishes (Web page, newsletter, parish

announcements, meetings of ministries,

groups and movements, billboard, etc.) and

seek to expand the existing programs in

latest formats.

Strategies

• Create in the parishes a dedicated study team

with parishioners who would like to update their

knowledge in theological matters, in new

encyclicals and documents from the Magisterium

of the Church. This team will be responsible for

motivating others to read and discuss new

materials, and transmitting all the information

about the diocesan liturgical workshops and

School of Christian Formation courses through

seminars, internet, facebook, text messages,

emails, website of the parish, and newsletter.

• Granting this team endorsement and permission

from the pastor to perform his duties, and to

motivate the parish community on the need to

update their theological knowledge.

• This team will be the facilitator between

parishes for sharing workshops and activities.

• Use of external media, such as radio,

newspaper and television, to promote the

workshops.

Conceptual Framework:

“Since the laity participate in the Curch’s

mission in their own way, their apostolic

training acquires a special character

precisely from the secularity proper to

the lay state and from its particular type

of spirituality.” (Vat. II Apostolicamn

Actuositatesm # 29)

Page 29

Objective 2

Offer incentives that encourage greater

participation in educational programs that

help strengthen the faith and knowledge of

the teachings of the Church, in all its

orders.

Strategies

• Form groups of parents and youth to motivate

the community to learn more about their faith.

• Create a flexible Schedule to offer workshops

depending on the parish.

• Offer workshops according to the needs and

requests of the parish.

• Provide spiritual, personal, and educational

growth workshops.

• Promote the integration between parishes, of

events aimed to update the study and

development of theological topics.

Objective 3

Offer parochial and diocesan youth

leadership training, cultural integration and

school dropout prevention workshops.

• Work in coordination with the diocesan

youth ministry, parish youth ministry, and their

leaders.

• Provide motivational talks delivered by

educators to explain to young people the

importance of the attending school.

Objective 4

Identify the people in the parochial

community who have completed the

program of the SCF to attend the Second

Level, and for qualified participants to

apply to the Teaching Tutoring Program

that enables them as possible SCF

instructors in certain areas of teaching.

Strategies

• Parishes gather students who have completed

the School of Christian Formation, consulting the

records of graduates.

• Encourage these graduates to put their

knowledge at the service of the faithful

(Catechesis, RICA, SCF).

• Organize SCF graduates annual conference that

meet and commit to encourage the community to

participate in the study of faith through the SCF.

Strategies

• Offer topics and methods for teaching

workshops that could be of interest to today's

youth.

• Workshops are to be taught by youth for youth

• Work in coordination with the diocesan youth

ministry, parish youth ministry, and their leaders.

IV. LITURGICAL LIFE AND SPIRITUALITY

"Celebrating and developing the encounter with Jesus Christ" Aparecida 240

Conceptual Framework:

“The liturgy and prayer life of the Church are

privileged opportunities for the faithful to

experience a true spirit of community … so that

the liturgy may be the summit and source of

Christian life, the celebration of the sacraments ,

particularly the Eucharist, must foster a feeling of

“being at home”. The pastoral plan seeks to

promote liturgical celebrations that are

inculturated in the reality of the community that

celebrates them, while bringing the many faces of

God’s house into a greater communion.” (USCCB,

Encuentro y Mision, # 34).

Definition of the goal:

Encourage a vibrant participation of all faithful in

the Holy Mass by active liturgical ministries, and

eventual liturgical explanations or lectures, by a

vivid music ministry, and a warming welcome to

the Eucharistic celebration, and other well

prepared reception of the sacraments

Objective 1

Increase participation and understanding in

the liturgical life of the Church.

Strategies

• Deepen the experience of acceptance, and

communion in the parochial liturgy, by forming

stable, rotating liturgical ministries (ushers, altar

servers, lectors of the Word, extraordinary

ministers of the Holy Communion, choirs).

• Provide a solid sacramental catechesis for

baptisms, confirmation, reconciliation, and for

teenagers who request a Quinceañera Mass.

These would be a privileged and real opportunity

for evangelization of the entire family.

• Identify cultural events and important moments

in the life of the local community in which the

liturgy would be more relevant (Patron Saints,

National Migration week.)

Objective 2

Initiate or continue to develop the

emphasis on evangelization at every

liturgy, and the proper use of traditional

popular devotions.

Strategies

• Give the importance and recognition to

particular traditions of the people by providing

initial and brief talks prior to important

celebrations. (Guadalupana, Marian devotions by

countries of origin.)

.

Page 19: ¡Evangelicemos Juntos! Let´s Evangelize Together!cdn.trustedtechexperts.com/docs/library...Mission Statement Diocese of Palm Beach, Florida 2014-2020 We the Hispanic faithful of

Page 31

• Incorporate popular expressions of faith to the

liturgy (Marian devotions, Patron Saints,

Novenas) by providing appropriate catechesis of

these celebrations.

Objective 3

Provide permanent liturgical formation to

the ministries of music and choir for their

participation in the Mass in line with what

is established by the Church.

Objective 4

Provide opportunities to all parishioners for

a personal encounter with Christ that

transforms the faithful into disciples and

can continue to grow in the spiritual path.

Strategies

• Provide a range of different spiritual retreats for

every age and life situation.

• Accompany and guide the prayer groups in

each parish.

• Provide moments of intimacy and contemplation

of the Blessed Sacrament.

• Provide training workshops on prayer ("Lectio

Divina" and various forms of prayer).

• Provide guides and train people to create small

communities of faith.

• Provide opportunities for vocational discernment

for the priesthood and permanent diaconate

working in communion with the Office of Hispanic

Ministry, Vocations Office, and the Permanent

Diaconate Office.

Strategies

• Continue to provide the Annual Gathering of

Liturgical Musicians and encourage the

participation of all groups and choirs in the

diocese.

• Encourage participation by those with musical

interests through direct personal invitation of the

priest and director of musical groups.

• Provide opportunities to new musicians and

cantors to be trained by expert.

V. SOCIAL PASTORAL: CHARITY AND JUSTICE

"Blessed are those who work for peace and justice, for they shall be called sons of God."

Mt 5, 9

Conceptual Framework:

Catholic Social Doctrine has also a value as a tool

for evangelization (Cfr. Centessimus Annus #54),

because it connects the human person and the

society on the light of the Gospel. We should

VI. COMMUNION IN MISSION (PASTORAL DE CONJUNTO)

"One Lord, one Faith, one Spirit in the DIVERSITY of the people"

Conceptual Framework:

“Build relationships with leaders in all ministries

to achieve a common vision and pastoral

planning process. Such relationships should lead

to common projects and programs that build the

unity of the Church and gather Catholics from

different ethnic and cultural groups.” (USCCB

Encuentro y Mision #57 b.)

The dimension of togetherness is intrinsic to the

mystery and the reality of the Church, that at the

same time reflects the mystery of the Holy

Trinity. The parish should nurture this sense of

community formation. People have to feel the

parish as their family in faith and charity, in which

all together accompany each other in following

the Lord.” (Aparecida #304-306).

Definition of the goal:

To achieve the coordination and integration of all

parish activities of all groups, movements and

ministries in accordance with the Pastoral Plan,

and coordinated by the Pastoral Team, always

seeking the evangelization in communion of the

whole parish.

Objective 1

The pastor and the Parochial Pastoral

Council will create and/or reinforce the

Hispanic Pastoral Team (composed by the

Hispanic coordinators of each ministry,

movements and diocesan liaisons) in each

parish, under the direction of the priest in

charge of the Hispanic Community. A

representative of the Hispanic Pastoral

Team should be a member of the Parochial

Pastoral.

chaired by the priest or the deacon in charge of

the Hispanic Ministry.

• The coordinators of ministries and movements

will be periodically rotated (to other ministries)

every 3 years and the former coordinator will

postulate and train the new coordinators.

• Identify and assign the liaison with the diocesan

Office of Hispanic Ministry to transmit and

promote all information of programs coming from

the diocese.

• Liaisons take an active role in the programs

generated in the diocese as a way of witnessing

the communion in mission of the whole Catholic

Church.

• Appoint a representative for the Parochial

Council that can be a bridge between the

Hispanic Pastoral team and the Parochial Council.

• Maintain a flow of communication between the

Hispanic Pastoral team and the community at

large (Internet, newsletters, telephones, emails).

ministries and apostolic movements can

work together (family, youth, liturgical,

social), both in English and Spanish.

picnics, missions, Stations of the Cross, Holy

Hours) where the participation of different areas

of pastoral work will enhance the pastoral

purpose of the event and that involves the whole

parish.

• The Hispanic community will make a special

effort to participate, attend and share activities

that are planned by the American community and

other communities to help in integration, and

share the activities generated in the Hispanic

community.

• The Pastoral Team should make an effort to

have representatives from apostolic groups and

movements approved by the diocese to work in

communion on evangelization and growth of the

unity of the Church.

Objective 5

Generate evangelization programs in

conjunction with different sectors of the

parish community.

• Organize programs to evangelize together in

both languages together with the Prison Ministry,

Plan will be given to all parishes and

pastoral teams.

Strategies

• Parish diocesan liaisons will be responsible for

informing and motivating about the Encuentro,

during the months previous to the event.

• All Hispanic Pastoral Teams are the primary

participants to the Encuentro. Coordinators of

other ministries in the parishes are strongly

encouraged to attend the Encuentro as a token of

the willingness to work in communion.

Strategies

• Reinforce cultural exchange between different

communities.

• Invite other communities to the recreational

and social events (fiestas and celebrations)

generated by the Hispanic community.

PASTORAL PRAYER

Merciful Father,

we come into your presence in the Lord Jesus Christ, the good shepherd,

and with the prayer in our hearts inspired by the Holy Spirit.

Look at our sincere disposition to serve you,

and our purpose to extend your Kingdom of justice, peace, and love

in your people, and in the people who are far away from your apostolic Church.

We are your people, your Holy Catholic Church, and we want to affirm our unity

with the Holy Father our Pope, and with all the magisterium of the Church

in one heart and one Spirit.

Give us always the bread of the Eucharist, and send us priests,

worthy servers of your Church.

Forgive our rivalries and divisions. Give us the strength of your Trinitarian unity.

We offer you this diocesan Pastoral Plan, and our fervor to apply it

so it will become another tool for evangelization of our families, children, youth,

and especially for those who suffer any form of injustice, or exploitation.

Help us not to leave behind the opportunities to serve you

in the most vulnerable of your children.

Loving Father, move the hearts of all pastoral agents, those who are responsible

for the implementation of this plan:

priests, deacons, religious, servers, leaders of movements,

and all those who will participate in congregating in unity

their communities and parishes.

Increase, Lord our faith, hope, and charity to give a strong testimony

of your light and your truth,

and help us to witness your action within us transforming everything

with the force of the Gospel.

Renew us through Jesus Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

and by the intercession of Mary, mother of the Church.

Amen.
