Mitch Baird, Aimee Erikson andJamee LintonOctober 5 27, 2010
Octobers featured artists work will be ondisplay throughout our facility.
Mitch Baird celebrates life and the beautythat surrounds us in his representationalpainting. He is devoted to the traditions of
the late 19th century artists who lookedto the gure and natures landscape forinspiration regarding light, color, and design. His artistic desire is to portray a positivevisual statement and hope the viewer willexperience what I see and in some sense beinspired, uplifted, or moved by my painting, whether it is of a small intimate setting or agrandiose subject.
Aimee Erickson began teaching at theMultnomah Arts Center in 2005. Her paintingsreect a lifetime of observation light,
shadow, subtle color transitions in a stylethat is representational and painterly, seekingbeauty and the essence of things. Favorite
artists includeSorolla, JohnSinger Sargent,Burt Silverman,and GregoryManchess(and a lotof otherillustrators!)
Landscape painting is a vehicle throughwhich I study life and nature. Using acombination of memory, emotion, andreference, I translate the landscape intoscenes that focus on color, balance, andcomposition. This translation establishesa conversation between the real and theideal and is inspired by the appreciation ofbeauty, emotional intensity, and nature as amanifestation of the sublime. Jamee Linton
Also on display will be sculptures by WCACstudent Hailey Bourassa, age 11, in the lowerexhibition area. Hailey has been a studentat the Arts Center for three years and we areproud of her great work.
