This link is to help you (parents/ carers) with the sounds so that you are sounding them in the same way we do at school https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IwJx1NSineE Reading Before you read this week’s book Little red riding hood. Take a look at the front cover… Ask your child what they think the book might be about? Why? Encourage answers that mean your child has used what they can see in the picture to guide their answer. Please read the PDF version of little red riding hood. If this is difficult for any reason please talk about the pictures of the story. Key vocab to focus on: Forest- a large groups of trees Basket- a type of bag made out of a type of wood Nightgown- an old fashioned word for pyjamas that look like a dress Woodcutter- a person that cuts down trees Literacy What are your favourite foods? What would you give grandma to make her feel better? Can you draw a picture of the things you would give to Grandma. I wonder if you write your name on your picture? You could send me a photo of your picture to:

Reading Before you read this week’s book Little red riding hood. Take a look at the front cover…

Ask your child what they think the book might be about? Why? Encourage answers that mean your child has used what they can see in the picture to guide their answer. Please read the PDF version of little red riding hood. If this is difficult for any reason please talk about the pictures of the story. MathsFor maths this week we are going to focus on number we see all around us!I wonder if you could go on anumber hunt in your house… where can you see numbers in your house? What numbers did you see? You could take phtoso of some of the numbers you found. Here are a few suggestions of things that have number on them.

Expressive arts and designOver the next two days I wonder if you could make your very own cardboard box theatre?

Today you could focus on the theatre and tomorrow you could make the characters. Here is a tutorial online that will help you http://overtherainbowfactory.blogspot.com/2016/08/Red-Riding-Hood-Shoebox-Theatre.html

Understanding of the world STEM activity- Little Red Riding hood has lost her basket!! She needs something to carry an apple, a banana and a small orange for Grandma.

Can you make a bag that would be able to carry?

What could you use to make it? Try to use recycled resources in your home. Here are some ideas…

Name practise – please also use this time to practise name writing with your child every day. You could follow some of the advice on https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=swwxOB4MS-YPlease do not get your child to write their full name in capitals only a capital at the beginning the rest lower case. This week on your daily walk or from your garden can you collect some stones or pebbles to create your own name stones. You can practice spelling your child’s name with these like in the picture.
