From The Publisher…As we approach the one-year anniversary of The List Magazine, we reflect on the aftermath
of Hurricane Sandy and its effects on our beloved Long Island communities. Amid the hardship endured by our families, friends and neighbors, people came together and worked hand in hand to help one another overcome the difficulties delivered by Mother Nature. Out of the darkness came love, humanity and compassion.
With this special supplement to The List – and our “Focus On The Coast” section, which readers will find in our magazine beginning in February/March 2013 – our goal is to highlight those many professionals and businesses who have contributed – and will continue to devote their efforts and services – to the rebuilding of the south shore. You can also look forward to our trademark Must Have Must Go and Must Know features, spotlighting various merchants and providing the restaurant recommendations you have come to expect from The List.
We were all affected in some way by Hurricane Sandy, and it was for this reason that we held back on publishing what would have been our Anniversary/Holiday issue. However, we have included a special sidebar which talks about “The Shopping List” you will find on our Facebook page. We have been in and out of stores from Babylon to Great River, snapping pictures of great finds and posting some of our favorite picks for your holiday shopping convenience. Our local shops are here for us, and so we need to support them to ensure that they continue to thrive!
The spirit of the holiday season has a magical way of helping to bring our communities back to life once again as 2012 draws to a close. January will mark the beginning of a fresh start for all of us, and we at The List hope to help you work toward making every day better than the last. Look for our 2013 intro issue in late January.
