Welcome to the 2008
Forever Bury Beer FestivalSponsored by GLOBET CASINO – Play Poker On Line & Help The Shakers
Can I please welcome everyone to this year’s event and I do hope you all enjoy your time here and the superb array of drinks that we have managed to put together for you.
We’ve cast the net further a field this time with a couple of award winning beers coming down from Scotland and as usual there’s a few new beers being launched at the Festival.
This is the fourth Beer Festival in what is now becoming a World famous annual event; indeed, representatives from our main sponsors, Globet Casino have flown in from Gibraltar to join us. One way you can back the Shakers and support Globet at the same time is to log onto the Beer Festival website - www.fb-beerfestivals.co.uk and click on the Globet logo to access their site for playing poker or sports betting.
On that note I’d like to thank each and every one of our sponsors for their generosity and hope that you all have an enjoyable time. All monies raised are put to good use in helping Forever Bury to play their part in rebuilding the club as well as giving the fans a platform from which to be involved.
The last 3 Beer Festivals have raised over £25,000 in total for our cause – which has helped us to invest £87,000 into the club over the past 5 years. This has increased our shareholding in the club to over 310,000 shares.
Finally, if you enjoy today (as I’m sure you will), why not take a look at some of our forthcoming events; even consider joining the Forever Bury membership and playing your part in rebuilding the Shakers. We are growing all the time and there are many benefits especially the Forever Bury Discount Scheme or get in touch if you would like a private look around behind the scenes at Gigg Lane.
Don’t forget to check the Beer Festival website to see all the photos from this year’s event. Thanks to everyone………..please have FUN!!!!!!!

John Leslie Hart played his early football with Earlestown White Star and joined Bury on 31st December 1936. After an initial introduction to Central League football playing both at full-back and centre-half, he made his debut in the Shakers first team in December 1938 upon Bill Gorman’s transfer to Brentford and held down the right-back spot for the next 24 games. The war interrupted his career -although he was still able to turn out for the Shakers during the war years- and upon the resumption of the Football League in 1946, Les went on to hold down a regular place at centre-half and remained a
stalwart in the Bury defence for the next eight seasons. He finally retired at the end of the 1953/4 season, at the age of 37, having played in 256 League games for the club. His Gigg Lane career didn’t end there though, as he remained at the club for another 27 years, filling a variety of roles including spells as First Team Trainer, Physiotherapist and - for a twelve month spell beginning in September 1969 - Team manager. Indeed Bury recorded a club record 8-0 League win against Tranmere Rovers during Les’ spell as manager. He reverted back to physiotherapist after stepping down as Manager and remained in the post until his retirement on 29th March 1980. Perhaps Bury’s most loyal servant ever, Les died in Bury on 20th August 1996.
