From the Pastor’s Heart VOLUME 2 July 20, 2014 NUMBER 29 “We have chosen the way of truth.” Psalm 119:30 If you are visiting with us, let me be the first to welcome you. We are so glad you chose to join us for worship today. Our prayer is that you will discover the presence of God as we worship today. We are a vibrant church family that seeks to love God and others. We will continue this morning in our study of 1 Corinthians. I'm excited about our passage this morning in 1 Corinthians 11: 17-34. The title of my message this morning is "Remember the Cross". This should be the common cry of heaven's citizens. A great hymn says, "When I survey the wondrous cross on which the Prince of Glory died, my richest gain I count but loss, and pour contempt on all my pride!" I pray that our meditation be filled today with thoughts of the One who bled and died at Calvary. Please make plans to be here next Sunday afternoon for our picnic in the park. We are going to have a huge water slide for the kids and adults, as well as some small slides for the little kids. Bring your lawn chairs and come pre- pared to have a great afternoon of fellowship. Oh, and by the way, we will also have hamburgers and hotdogs, and homemade ice cream! Come and en- joy the fun from 5-7pm, and then refreshments and food in the fellowship hall at 7pm. Please be in prayer for our mission team that departed Friday for Mexico. They will return on July 25th. Join me in praying that God will use them for His glory. Every Lord's day is special to me, but this Sunday is even a little more spe- cial. Today is my sweet and young wife's birthday! I rejoice in my Lord for blessing me with her. I would like to invite each one of you back tonight for a little birthday cake and punch after the evening service in the fellowship hall. Proverbs 18:22 says, "He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord." It's all about Jesus, so let's prepare to worship Him today! In Christ, Bro. Stacy

Greetings Southside Friends,

What a wonderful day to worship the Lord! But then everyday is a great day to worship our Lord, isn't it? We are a blessed people! Let's show our praise in our singing, praying, and giving this morning.

Sr. Adults, don't forget Game Day is this Fri. from 10:00 - 2:00 p.m. Remember to bring a covered dish for our luncheon. If you have not tried this activity before, you might want to come and try it out. The fellowship hall is always filled with lots of laughter and great fel-lowship! The Sr. Adult Council will have a meeting in the conference room on Wed. July 30th at 3:00 p.m. Those who have bought tickets to the Mary Poppins play - we will leave the church on this Wed. at 10:00 a.m. and try to return in time for the concert.

Children in grades 1-5 will have a swimming party at the McNabs house on Tuesday night, July 29th from 5:00 - 7:30 p.m.. Please bring a towel and change of clothes and let me know if you plan to come. Also, we will go to the movies on Wed. July 30th to see Mr. Peabody. We will meet at the church at 9:00 a.m. and come back to the church for lunch. Parents can pick up their children at 1:00 p.m.

I have some Children's Church t-shirts left for adults and children that I will sell for $5.00. I would love for you to wear them when you are teaching Children's Church. Please see me if you are interested. I am now working on my list of Children's Church workers for next year (which starts in Sept.) If you would be willing to serve, please let me know. I would en-courage everyone that is able to do their part. We can all do something to serve.

Much love, Mrs. Rhonda
