• Designing elements such as
characters, levels, puzzles, etc.
Computer skills -
Technology is an huge part of the computer game design
industry. Whether you’re writing codes or creating
graphics, you’ll need some technical knowledge and an
ability for learning new software.
Artistic Abilities -Graphics and animation are a crucial component of being a computer game designer. Video game characters and virtual environments are more complex than ever, which means that that artistic people are in demand in the video game industry.
Team Work -Working in a busy environment comes with the territory in a computer game design. There are a lot of moving parts in a game design project. You’ll be cooperating with many people to meet goals and deadlines, and you’ll need to communicate your ideas clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• You would need to go
to college to get a
computer science/
programming degree.
Legendary games like Grand Theft Auto and Halo don't
come together without computer game designers
putting in long hours and lots of hard work. To
succeed in computer game design, you'll need to be
dedicated. It may not be a good career fit for casual
gamers. But if you're passionate about video games,
you'll be happy to know that "being a responsible
adult" and being a gamer aren't mutually exclusive.
• Less than 3 years experience you will make an
average of about 46K a year.
• Then about 3-6 years, you start to get about 55,600
a year.
• Over 6 years you can start to bring home about 70K
a year.
• 2000: 5.6 billion • 2001: 6.1 billion • 2002: 7.0 billion • 2003: 7.1 billion • 2004: 7.4 billion • 2005: 7.0 billion• 2006: 7.4 billion
This career somewhat interests me. I think
it would be fun to create a game that you
wanted. And also will doing it you get paid
a good amount.
