Giovani Italiani Australia (GIA)Giovani Italiani Australia (GIA) is the national youth network of all clubs, groups and associations that promote Italian language and culture to young people in Australia.
Our member organisations and individuals come from diverse linguistic backgrounds incorporating both mother tongue Italian and English speakers. Our network spans every major city in Australia providing the platform for organisations and individuals to come together to share best practice, communication opportunities and publicity channels that empowers their organisation to achieve its goals in promoting Italian language and culture to young people.
Annually GIA holds a national Forum in one major Australian city, bringing together young people from around Australia to participate in a weekend of social networking opportunities and interactive workshops.
Melbourne Forum 2011The 2011 Forum will be held in Melbourne from the 25th to the 27th of November 2011
What will it incorporate? The Forum will incorporate interactive workshops providing participants with the opportunity to better understand the phenomenon of Italian migration in Australia - particularly Melbourne, opportunities to speak in Italian and discover travel possibilities and scholarships to Italy. The Forum will also provide a range of social networking opportunities to participants.
Where will it be based? With the generous support of Co.As.It and the Italian Institute of Culture, the Forum will be based at the Italian Institute of Culture in South Yarra on Saturday and at Co.As.It in Carlton on Sunday.
How many people will attend? We estimate that 100 young people aged 18 - 30 interested in Italian language and culture will attend with the majority coming from Melbourne and approximately 30 traveling from interstate.
