Principal’s Report 100 Days of Prep What a wonderful time the Prep students had last Friday as they celebrated with their family and teachers. We all felt very proud as Ms Juz de Bruyn and Ms Liv Fourniotis presented each child with their 100 Days certificate.

The students reflected on what they liked about being a prep student and then enjoyed some party food and musical games.

Thank you very much to ES staff Fara and Anu who made a lovely 100 Days cake and other delicious goodies for the party and to all the families who sent along food and enjoyed this very special event.

Staffing Last week, parents and students of 5/6P received a letter advising them that Ms Lucy Walker is unable to continue teaching 5/6P at this time.

The reason is that when Ms Walker was successful in being appointed to teach at GHPS, it was anticipated that the Teaching Contract would be needed only until the 28th July, 2017. The Visa application for her employment stipulated that Ms Walker may be employed for this period and her final day was on Friday, 28th July.

Moving forward, the school has advertised for a new teacher as required by DET to commence as soon as the process of appointment is completed. In the interim, we are very happy to announce that Ms Amy Tinetti will teach the class.

The students will continue with the work planned by the Grade 5/6 Team and parents will be invited to attend Parent Teacher Interviews with Ms Tinetti and the newly appointed teacher at a date to be confirmed as soon as we can do so.

We would like to thank Ms Walker very much for teaching Grade 5/6 and wish her the very best for her future appointments.

Parent/Teacher/Student Three- Way Conversations Thank you very much to the staff for conducting the Parent Teacher and Student discussions which were held this week.

I hope that all families took the opportunity to actively contribute and be involved directly in writing their future learning goals to further strengthen the partnership between the class teacher and your family.

The ILIP’s which are being developed for each child will be distributed to parents when completed.

2017 Cabaret Excitement is building for the Cabaret as Glen Huntly Primary School’s ‘night of nights’ is just over four weeks away! Wow!

All students are gearing up for what will be a brilliant night of fun and entertainment. Classes have been rehearsing items with music and dance teachers, Mr David Jenkins, Ms Bianca Bruce, Laura James-Clark and Mr John Jacobs.

Laura and Bianca have been exceptional with the choreography for the performances on the evening. The dances are really starting to look special as we edge closer to our rehearsal at the Kingston Town Hall on Monday 4th September.

Education Support Staff, Lisa Oliver and Tania Casonata have taken on the huge role of sourcing, designing, sprucing up and sewing costumes to fit out all classes and there’s a real pizazz about their style that I’m sure you will greatly appreciate when the students take to the stage. The students and audience are set for an amazing experience.

The Senior School Choir and The Party Hats have also been busy rehearsing their performances. The members of 6J, 6P and 6A have been busy writing and

practising their introductions which is a very exciting opportunity for our graduating class on this special night.

Mrs Leonie Sonnberger has designed and created the backdrop for the stage and will work with the students as they artistically make posters to decorate the front of the stage area. The Grade 6’s will design the cover for the program. What an outstanding team!

The tickets will be on sale very soon and can be purchased both at the office and on the night at the door.

DET Parent Opinion Survey 2017 On Monday 7th August, the Department of Education and Training (DET) parent opinion survey will open to families who have been randomly selected from our Cases 21 program.

The survey will be conducted online by ORIMA Research and will close on Sunday 27th August. We will use the results with Glen Huntly Primary Staff and Council to inform school improvement.
