17.00Close of Workshop

Workshop Overview

Satellite links provide a key capability widely used by militarycommanders for tactical communications. UHF and L-Bandsystems are in widespread use; however, the adoption of higherfrequency, higher data rate, systems has been “the next big thing”for a number of years and, for land systems, reality has never quitematched expectations. This workshop will explore the key technicaland commercial enablers and challenges that affect the success ofhigher frequency broadband tactical services. Bringing inperspectives from satellite operators, service providers andequipment suppliers, the workshop will explore these challenges inthe context of the current pressures on defence spending and lookat the prospects for broadband tactical satellite communicationsover the next decade.

Who Should Attend?

The workshop is aimed at those involved in the design, specification, procurement, installation and use of tactical SatCom systems.Delegates will gain a broad understanding of the challenges facingthe supply chain for high frequency satellite communicationsystems, helping them to understand the key elements ofsuccessful systems, and to get an industry-wide perspective on theprospects for their use and deployment in the future.

What have past attendees said about Global MilSatCom?“Great job! Keep it up!” MoD Nigeria

“One of the most worthwhile events in Europe” NATO JAPCC

“Global MilSatCom is the conference and exhibition which gave me the most valuable knowledge” Luxembourg Army

“All presentations were of a high standard and excellent variety” E2V

“Good conference with lots of professional and informed speakers” South African National Defence Force

Global MilSatCom: It’s Value“Global MilSatCom is unique in my experience in that it provides

a forum which is truly international; no single country dominates the conference. Presentations are

made from national militaries and commercial firms from every continent. One is able to gain a sense of the challenges which are common; the various solutions being innovated and

adopted; and the convergences in many cases which exist between these diverse solutions. It also offers anintimacy that is not available in most conferences—there is always the opportunity to reconnect with friends and

colleagues begin to establish new friendships with fellow SATCOM professionals.”
