GOAL SETTINGDEFINITION OF GOAL
A goal is a projected state of affairs that a person or system plans or intends to achieve.
DEFINITION OF GOAL SETTING Is a process that allows people to specify the work towards their own objectives. Involves establishing specific, measurable and time-targeted objectives.
CHOICE
Goals narrow attention and direct efforts to goal-relevant activities, and away from perceived undesirable and goal-irrelevant actions.
EFFORT
Goals can lead to more effort.
PERSISTENCE
An individual becomes more prone to work through setbacks if pursuing a goal.
COGNITION
Goals can lead an individual to develop cognitive strategies to change their behaviour.
GOAL SETTING TIPS
State each goal as a positive statement. Be precise. Set priorities. Write goals down. Keep operational goals small.

The activation or energization of goal-oriented behaviour.

INTRINSIC MOTIVATION
Refers to motivation that comes from inside an individual.
EXAMPLE:
Self-motivation.
EXTRINSIC MOTIVATION
Refers to external incentives for a person to perform a given task.
EXAMPLES:
Money.
Grades .
Prizes.
