Georgia Society of Rheumatology Annual Meeting.
The room block expires on May 3, 2011
Meeting Description The Annual Meeting of the Georgia Society of Rheumatology is a two-day program designed for rheumatologists and orthopaedists who specialize in all aspects of arthritis and osteoarthritis including diagnosis and management of rheumatic diseases and disorders. We strive to create a program that is educational and informative using both nationally renowned speakers as well as our own physician members. Given the wide variety of rheumatologic disorders, and an ever-increasing number of diagnostic procedures and treatment options, it is necessary to provide clinicians with information about strategies for the early diagnosis of these conditions, novel state-of-the-art diagnostic tools, and opportunities to utilize the most effective treatments to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Objectives Attendees will be updated on a broad range of new developments in rheumatology and acquire a better understanding of advances in medical and surgical therapies. They will also gain greater insight into current trends in practice management as well as financial and medical/legal challenges facing today’s clinician. At the conclusion of this learning activity, participants should be able to: • Discuss recent advances in the use of biologic agents in the treatment of
rheumatoid arthritis. • Appreciate new treatment options for patients with psoriatic arthritis. • Discuss new and emerging issues in the management of osteoporosis. • Identify major issues related to the management of patients suffering
from chronic pain. • Recognize the major dermatologic manifestations of the rheumatic
diseases. • Identify how to diagnose and manage osteoarthritis-related shoulder,
foot, and ankle disorders. • Appraise current management approaches and controversies in the
diagnosis and treatment of lyme disease. • Discuss new treatment strategies in systemic lupus erythematosus. • Appreciate the role of biologic therapy in the treatment of systemic
vasculitis.
