About the Conference

Shah-Schulman Center for Surface Science and Nanotechnology and Faculty of Pharmacy at Dharmsinh Desai University (DDU) are organizing an International Conference on “Surface Science and Nanotechnology in Biomedical, Pharmaceutical & Engineering Systems”. The conference aims to impart knowledge on cutting edge research being carried out globally in the field of Nanotechnology. This conference will create a platform to exchange ideas, innovation and experiences among senior and junior researchers which will in turn enrich the quality research. Young researchers and research professionals from corporate sector will get exposure to research on nanotechnology applications carried out at international level. This conference will boost the interest in nanotechnology and surface science related research in India and in state of Gujarat and that will impact the quality and direction of R&D in industry and academia in India. Conference will create an opportunity for collaborative research on surface science and nanotechnology between Industry and Academia.

Conference Venue and About the University

Dharmsinh Desai University (DDU) formerly known as DDIT was founded in 1968 by respected educationist, social worker and the Member of Parliament Late Shri Dharmsinh Desai. In the year 2000, it earned a status of Deemed University by Government of India, in recognition of its standards in academia. In April 2005, the Government of Gujarat declared the institution as a State University. DDU is approved by the UGC Under section 2f and 12B. DDU has interacted with Government and International Academic institutions over the years. It has trained scientists and engineers to provide leadership in academia and industry since 1968. Its students have exhibited a drive for professional excellence throughout their careers. The graduates of this university are highly sought by Indian and International companies. Various Faculties established under the roof of DDU are Technology, Dental, Pharmacy, Business Administration and Information Sciences.

Faculty of Pharmacy was established at Dharmsinh Desai University with sole motive to promote excellence in pharmaceutical education to meet the needs of industry and academia in 2006 offering B.Pharm course. Faculty of Pharmacy is approved by Pharmacy Council of India (PCI). It also offers M.Pharm in Pharmaceutics & Pharmaceutical Technology and Quality assurance and Doctoral programs in various disciplines of Pharmacy.

DDU has recently established Shah-Schulman Centre for Surface Science and Nanotechnology with the help of a grant of Rs. 3.5 crores from Government of Gujarat. This centre is headed by a world renowned scientist, Dr. Dinesh Shah of University of Florida, who has to his credit 7 books, 6 patents, and over 250 research papers in referred journals, monographs and books. This centre is one of its kinds in the country and is doing pioneering work in association with the Industries and Academia. There are nine corporate members who have pledged Rs. 15 lacs each – totaling to Rs. 1.35 crores for the development of above centre.

Registration Fees

Accommodation

On request accommodation for the delegates can be arranged in hotels subject to availability. The rates generally vary over the range of INR 1500/- to 6000/- per person per night for budget to medium range hotels. All payments for the hotel will have to be settled directly by the participants. For bookings one night advance payment is mandatory.

Call for Papers The authors will be required to submit the abstract of original research work as per format available on conference website. Abstracts will be reviewed by the Scientific Review Committee and intimation of acceptance will be sent to presenting author through email. Important dates for authors are as follows. Important Dates : Deadline for poster/oral abstract submission: 15th October, 2013 Intimation of abstract acceptance: 25th October, 2013 Peer reviewed creditable abstracts will be published. How to Reach DDU, Nadiad, Gujarat The university is located on the southern outskirts of Nadiad city about 3 kms from Nadiad railway station and 2 kms from Mahatma Gandhi Express way Nadiad toll plaza. Nadiad is well connected to all the major cities of India by train and bus. The nearest international airport Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel international airport, Ahmedabad is 60 kms from DDU. The weather during December is marginally cold with temperature of about 22-28oC during the day and 12-18oC at night.
