Greetings ocean enthusiasts, and welcome to our summer edition of Hadag magazine. The next couple of months will be quiet for all but the most dedicated of us, as soaring temperatures drive us indoors, and boats across the region are carefully covered and put into hibernation for the summer.However, that’s not to say we should be completely inactive, as now is the time that many expats leave the Gulf for other countries, and so those looking for a good deal on a second-hand boat or a coveted spot in the most popular marinas should choose this time to be on the hunt!Featured this month is the beautiful Heesen 47m class superyacht, the ASYA, the second to be delivered with the redesigned hull. It’s NOT the same as the Heesen yacht sketched below, but we just liked the image...As we sail through the Gulf we put our spotlight on Qatar this issue, which boasts so many excellent options when it comes to marine leisure facilities, from world-class marinas to yacht clubs at five-star hotels, beautiful islands, remote beaches, colourful ocean wildlife and more.What has also occurred to us as we’ve travelled through the Gulf is that all of the countries we’ve visited so far are making commendable efforts to keep their rich and ancient maritime heritage alive. We’ve seen this with the dhow builders in Bahrain, the dhow racing in Abu Dhabi and the region as a whole, and now in Qatar, with the Katara Traditional Dhow festival, where ancient boat-building practices are celebrated and kept alive by their support for the industry across the region.It’s a policy we wholeheartedly support!

he exterior design of the new 47m class yachts from Heesen was carried out by the renowned Frank Laupman of Omega Architects, combining elegant traditional lines with contemporary flair, a marriage emphasised by the continuous glass windows and matching black paintwork on the main deck and upper decks.

The restyling includes a significant improvement in the housing of the rescue tender in an enclosed bay in front of the wheelhouse, a remarkable achievement considering the yacht is under the 500GT threshold. Simplicity as the ultimate form of sophistication is the guiding principle of ASYA’s interior design. Her sophisticated interior from the London-based and award-winning studio Bannenberg & Rowell has a distinctly Far Eastern, restful feel, inspired by the designs of Dieter Rams, Frank Lloyd-Wright and Tadao Ando.

It combines silver-grey oiled oak, mid-gloss lacquer, silk and bronze with contrasting dark Makassar ebony and polished stainless steel detailing and accents.

Powered by two MTU8V 4000 M63 diesel engines, M/Y ASYA’s well-engineered full displacement steel hull with bulbous bow provides smooth passage for a maximum speed of 15 knots, which exceeded the contractual speed by 0.8 knots. At her cruising speed (12 knots) she has a range of 4,000 nautical miles.

LAunChED In ThE SuMMEr of 2014, the Alen 68’s original design was the result of a client’s desire for an elegant and distinctive motoryacht that could carry up to 16 people on day trips and include a comfortable stateroom for overnight trips. To cater to the client’s wishes, Alen Yacht joined forces with renowned international architects Foster + Partners to create the Alen 68, merging innovative technology from land construction with boatbuilding expertise to created a fast, agile craft combining the elegant social spaces of a cruising yacht with the fun of a day boat.It features one master suite and generous entertaining space at the prow – this arrangement is highly flexible and subsequent yachts in the series can be specified with up to three cabins.A stair leads down to the prow of the yacht, where the truly unique lounge is reminiscent of an exclusive club’s VIP area. It is naturally top-lit by a central strip of glazing, as well as two side portholes. The versatile, open-plan layout can accommodate up to twelve guests, as well as creating private niches for relaxing. To the stern is the master suite, with a double bed and leather chaise longue, and the galley and bathroom are in the centre of the boat. Every detail has been considered and prototyped, from the bathroom drawer that extends into a compact vanity unit, to the placement of grab rails, which are seamlessly

Maximising the flexibility of the space, two further black fabric recliners are arranged on either side of the wooden foredeck and the yacht also has space for a large tender, jet skis and paddle boards. The bench along one side of the outdoor dining table also functions as the driver’s seat – it can be elevated in its entirety to allow the whole family to sit ‘up front’ and steer a course. A black fabric shading screen, like the cover of a sports car, can partially or fully enclose the seating area to protect the yacht in all weathers. The fast, agile motor yacht can travel at up to an impressive 45 knots thanks to its twin 1,550hp MAN diesel engines, and can cruise at a lively pace of 38 knots.

Collaborations between boat builders and famous brands are no new thing, but it isn’t very often that

Gucci and Riva, in collaboration with Officina Italiana Design, the design company which created the original Aquariva in 2000, have worked together to create the exclusive made to order “Aquariva by Gucci”, a model customized by Gucci Creative Director Frida Giannini. The initiative was one of the activities marking Gucci’s 90th anniversary year in 2011.

The limited-edition Riva Aquariva by Gucci is a customised version of the sleek, 33-foot cruiser that the Italian boat maker launched in 2001. It is powered by two 380hp Yanmar engines delivering a maximum speed of 41 knots and a 150-mile range at cruising speed.

It boasts a glossy white fiberglass hull, a mahogany-lined cockpit and mahogany deck, and cockpit and sundeck seats covered with white waterproof fabric embossed with Gucci’s signature Guccissima pattern. A green-and-red stripe along the waterline complements the green tint of the crystal-glass windshield.

It comes with a raft of of Riva by Gucci accessories, which include bags, towels, deck shoes and flip-flops, all adding to the exclusivity and desirability of the boat. It is truly one of the most beautiful cruisers money can buy. But then it should be. The Aquariva by Gucci is estimated to ring in at a cool $1,000,000, which is a hefty price tag for a speedboat!

The four-deck Majesty 155 is Gulf Craft’s first displacement superyacht, and boasts an impressively luxurious experience, including an ornately designed fountain on the sundeck, a beautiful waterfall that cascades from the rear sundeck into the Jacuzzi situated on the upper deck, and even a dedicated cigar lounge, with interior surfaces constructed from Cappuccino Onyx and CremaMarfil marble.

The 70-metre Feadship Siran recently completed a nine-month refit at the Feadship yard in Makkum, ensuring that the superyacht features the newest technologies and meets the owner’s current requirements.

The last of seven magnificent Feadships to be designed by the legendary Jon Bannenberg, Siran was considered a revolutionary yacht in many ways at the time of her launch in 1991. Her radically styled windows and the innovative tender positioning were among many notable features.

Ronautica Middle East, operator of The Pearl-Qatar’s three marinas, announced last month that Porto Arabia Marina has been awarded a ‘5 Gold Anchors’ rating by the Yacht Harbour Association.

Safwa Marine, an independent yacht management company based in Abu Dhabi, recently opened its new Yas Marina headquarters and retail facility with an official launch ceremony. The new facility will offer a full range of services to the luxury yacht sector, including service and repair, charter and sales as well as offering a range of chandlery items.

The annual celebration of the region’s maritime heritage hosted in Qatar’s cultural centre brings traditional Arabian sailing boats from across the region together in one colourful spectacle.

Each year, Qatar’s cultural village, Katara, which is located on Doha’s coastline just north of West Bay, hosts an international traditional dhow festival, with the aim of celebrating the region’s sailing traditions and maintaining the ancient art of dhow building.

The Traditional Dhow Festival’s fourth edition was staged in November of last year, with His Highness Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al Thani inaugurating the event and attending the opening ceremony.

The opening ceremony was held in the presence of the Minister of Culture, Arts and Heritage HE Dr Hamad Bin Abdulaziz al Kuwari, Katara’s Director-General Dr Khalid Ibrahim al Sulaiti and the festival’s Director Mr Ahmed al Hitmi, in addition to a number of ambassadors and VIP guests. Overall, more than 40,000 visitors took part in the festival’s opening day celebrations.

Last year’s festival hosted five maritime competitions; traditional sailing, free diving, pearl diving and rowing, as well as the best dhow contest.

The ‘Fateh Al Khair’ team from Bahrain won QR200,000 for collecting the biggest amount of pearls (14,264) during the three-day contest. Mohammed Abdullah al Saada from Qatar took home QR100,000 for winning the free-diving contest, in which he managed to hold his breath for an incredible 5 minutes and 30 seconds under water.

The sailing competition’s winners were also crowned, with Raslan team winning the first place and the QR100,000 prize. As for the rowing competition, the teams that secured the first four spots on Wednesday, all from Oman, were awarded QR100,000, QR70,000, QR50,000 and QR30,000 respectively.

واستضاف المهرجان في العام الماضي خمسة مسابقات بحرية،كمسابقة اإلبحار التقليدي،الغوص الحر،استخراج اللؤلؤ،والتجديف،فضالً عن مسابقة المراكب الشراعية.

وفاز فريق “فاتح الخير”من مملكة البحرين بجائزة 200,00 ريال قطري لجمع أكبر كمية لؤلؤ)14264( على مدار الثالثة أيام

،وفوز محمد عبداهلل السادة من قطر بجائزة 100,00 ريال قطري للفوز بجائزة الغطس الحر،والذي تمكن من عقد أنفاسه لمدة

خمسة دقائق و30ثانية تحت الماء.

وفاز فريق “رسالن” بالمركز األول وجائزة 100,00 ريال قطري ،في مسابقة اإلبحار،وأما بالنسبة للتجديف فقد فاز فريق عمان بجائزة

Finally, Qatar Museums Authority’s Fateh Al Khair won the coveted ‘Best Dhow’ contest, and the QR100,000 prize. However, in 2014 the judges found the contest to be highly competitive, and in an exceptional move decided to honour two more dhows with QR50,000 each. The two honourees were Bahrain’s Al Khalfaniyah dhow owned by Abdulaziz al Shahin, followed by Kumzar dhow of Mohammed Abdullah al Kumzari from Oman.

Culture and MusicIt is not just dhows that are celebrated at the

festival, but the region’s maritime culture as a whole. The festival featured the participation of three folk groups from Qatar, Oman and Bahrain that roamed the beach’s walkways while chanting and doing the Arabian Peninsula’s signature clap, in a performance that resurrected the musical traditions of the region’s founding fathers.

To give the festival a ‘time-hop’ feel, the on-beach Heritage Village was re-designed to simulate the Qatari architecture of the 1940s. The village hosted 38 exhibitors from India, Zanzibar, Oman and Bahrain among a number of other countries.

During the five days of the festival, the artisans of the on-beach workshops performed live demonstrations of 16 ancient maritime professions that were popular in the pre-Oil-and-Gas era to the festival’s guests.

Besides the ‘Al Tabaa’ operetta, the festival’s musical numbers included ‘Al Qafal’ operetta, as well as the traditional ‘Al Dashah’ event, which celebrated the seamen’s departure as they went on their three-day pearl diving trip, as part of the dhow festival’s competition program.

Katara’s beach visitors also had the chance to learn about the rituals of pearl diving, by watching a full crew on board a traditional diving vessel with tools and equipment, which they used to dive into the depths of the sea to extract oysters and pearls.

Overall, the event was lauded as a huge success, and plays an important role in maintaining the region’s ancient maritime traditions.

و أخيرًا فازت هيئة متاحف قطر بجائزة “أفضل مركب شراعي” و100,00 ريال قطري،وفي خطوة استثنائية قررت

لجنة التحكيم تكريم اثنين من المراكب الشراعية بجائزة 50,000 ريال قطري ،وكانت الجائزتين من نصيب

المركب الشراعي “الخليفانية” لصاحبه البحريني عبدالعزيز شاهين ،والمركب الشراعي “كزمار” لصاحبه

محمد عبداهلل الكزماري من سلطنة عمان.

الثقافة والموسيقى انها ليست مجرد مسابقة للمراكب الشراعية،ولكنها

لجميع الثقافات البحرية في المنطقة ككل،حيث تضمن المهرجان مشاركة ثالثة فرق للفنون الشعبية من قطر

وعمان والبحرين ،الذين قاموا بترديد األهازيج البحرية التقليدية والتصفيق الذي يحمل الطابع الخاص لشبه

الجزيرة العربية.

وتم تصميم القرية التراثية على الشاطئ لمحاكاة العمارة القطرية من األربعينيات من القرن

الماضي،واستضافت القرية 38 عارضًا من الهند وزنجبار وعمان والبحرين وعددًا من البلدان األخرى.

وخالل الخمسة أيام من المهرجان،تم عرض العديد من الحرف و المهن البحرية القديمة التي كانت رائجة في

عصر ما قبل النفط والغاز لضيوف المهرجان.

إضافة إلى ذلك،”أوبريت الطباع” و اوبريت “القفال”،فضالً عن الحدث التقليدي”الدشه” الذي كانوا يحتفلون به

أبناء الخليج بعد مغادرة البحارة لصيد اللؤلؤ،وغيرها من البرامج الترفيهية .

ويحضى زوار مهرجان كتارا أيضًا بالتعرف على طقوس الغوص بحثًا عن اللؤلؤ،من خالل مشاهدة طاقم

متكامل على متن سفينة الغوص والمعدات واألدوات التقليدية.

وبشكل عام،أشاد الجميع بالنجاح الكبير للمهرجان ،الذي يلعب دورًا هامًا في الحفاظ على التقاليد البحرية

The peninsula of Qatar is a boater’s paradise, with its beautiful, warm Arabian Gulf waters home to a wealth of cruising and watersports opportunities to

SEAWInGS ArE FAST becoming the word in adventure and luxury sightseeing in the UAE. A trip on one of Seawings’ light passenger aircraft is very far removed from the cosseted luxury of a big jetliner. The roar of the turbo-prop engine and the white spray of the water as you barrel down the creek for take-off is an all-encompassing sensation. Once airborne, you feel every wind, breeze and air current in this light aircraft, making for a truly exhilarating experience. However, it is the spectacular aerial views of the mangroves, coves, islets, landmarks and city skylines that will dominate your memories of the flight.

Cruising above the city and coastline at a height of only a couple of thousand feet, there are few ways more impressive to take in the incredible skyline of Dubai and its record-breaking Burj Khalifa, or the spectacle of Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina Circuit, Ferrari World and Emirates Palace than from the air.

Seawings recently expanded their operations from simple sightseeing tours to all-inclusive adventure trips to remote islands and luxury resorts. “In 2014 we launched Seawings Lifestyle, offering a luxury concierge service to our guests using the seaplane as a fulcrum,” explains Darren.

“Through Seawings Lifestyle we have partnered with the best tours, excursions and activities in the UAE with a goal to build customized packages for our guests. Some of the packages include wildlife drives, yacht charters, spa treatments, fine dining, golf, city tours and more. Recently we also opened travel desks in some of Dubai’s most prestigious hotels, through which we hope to offer a level of service and quality that exceeds the expectations of travelers to the UAE.”

IF ThErE IS Any InDICATIon of the summer we’re in for, it was reported in June that on the second of the month, the UAE was the hottest place in the world, with the hottest temperature recorded globally of 50.5 degrees Celsius.

There are only eight countries in the world that have all or part of their territory in the Arctic Circle, namely the United States (Alaska), Canada, Russia, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Greenland and Iceland.

Can you tell us in your own words a little about your profession and what you do?

My day job is a customs employee in Saudi Arabia, but I’m also a qualified PADI diving instructor and passionate diver. I’m also an amateur underwater photographer, dedicated to taking pictures of the ocean and marine wildlife. I use a Canon 6D with a waterproof rig.

and what sparked your keen interest in the environment?

My interest in photography and the marine environment stems from the beauty of what my eyes saw when I was diving, and the charm of the sea and the natural treasures of coral reefs.

and how did you get involved in the world of photography?

I entered in to the world of photography because I wanted to transfer all the beauty of what I was seeing whilst diving to the eyes of others, and show them a world they have never seen before.

what has been the highlight of your career so far?

What is most important to me is the enjoyment and happiness that me and my colleagues and fellow divers get from what we do, and there have been many good times, I can’t choose only one!

what advice would you give to young people who would like to pursue a similar career?

I would advise every young man and woman to try the diving experience for themselves, to see for themselves the beauty of nature, and hopefully be inspired to protect and preserve the environment in order to enjoy this beauty in the future.

what are your plans for the future?My ultimate ambitions, God willing, are to

be a great diving instructor and teach many others to enjoy the marine environment, and perhaps one day to be a professional photographer in this area as well.

في هذا الموضوع يشارك معنا الشيف ساكو مسوتش من فندق هيلتون أبوظبي، ليحدثنا عن وصفة لحم التونا مع الرمان

السميكة. والبطاطا

المكونات يخدم 2

200 جرام لحم التونا100 جرام الفاصوليا الخضراء

1 قطعه بطاطا كبيرة1 قطعه رمان

1 قطعه الفلفل األصفر بهارات كاجون الريحان الطازج

ليمون زيت الزيتون

الملح والفلفل و زبدة


Method:Wash the potato and cut into thick strips.

Deep fry the potato chips on 140°C for 8 minutes and place on some kitchen paper. When the chips have cooled down, deep fry on 180°C for 4 minutes until golden brown. Sprinkle with pepper, salt and Cajun spices.

Wash the beans and cut off the ends. Blanch them for about one minute in boiling salted water. Sautee them in a pan with butter and salt.

Marinade the tuna steak with olive oil, salt and pepper. Heat up a pan to a high temperature. Sear the tuna on both sides, place inside a preheated oven (180°C) until medium (still pink in the middle).

Cut the pomegranate and take out the seeds. Cut one yellow capsicum into small cubes and mix with the pomegranate. Add salt, pepper, olive oil, lemon juice and chopped basil and mix well. Serve as shown above.

إلى شرائح سميكة. البطاطا وتقطع تغسل 140 درجة مئوية لمدة تقلى رقائق البطاطا على

8 دقائق وتوضع على بعض . وبعدها، تقلى على حرارة 180 درجة مئوية لمدة 4 دقائق حتى تكتسب البني الذهبي. يرش الفلفل والملح وتوابل اللون

الكاجون.

تغسل الفاصولياء جيدا. وتشحب لمدة دقيقة واحدة في الماء المغلي المملح. ويتم وضعها في

مقالة مع الزبدة والملح.

ويوضع الماء المالح مع شريحة لحم التونة مع زيت الزيتون والملح والفلفل. تسخن مقالة على درجة

حرارة عالية. احرق التونة على كال الجانبين، ومكان داخل الفرن ويحمى على حرارة )180 درجة مئوية( حتى المتوسط )يظل اللون الوردي في الوسط(

يقطع الرمان ويتم إخراج البذور. يقطع الفلفل األصفر إلى مكعبات صغيرة وتخلط مع الرمان. يضاف الملح

الليمون والريحان الزيتون وعصير والفلفل وزيت المفروم وتخلط جيدا. ،يقدم كما هو مبين أعاله.

Method:Cut the tuna into very small dices, using a really sharp knife to avoid

mashing it. Dice the shallots finely. Mix the ingredients together, adding lemon oil and Japanese lemon pepper. Season with Maldon sea salt, freshly ground black pepper and Piment d’Espelette.

Cut the avocado in half, removing the stone and skin. Put the flesh in a bowl, drizzle the juice of half a lime over it and mash the avocado with a fork. Blanch the tomatoes for around ten seconds in boiling water, remove them and cool them down in a bowl of ice water. Peel the tomatoes and remove the insides of them. Cut the tomato flesh down to small cubes. Add it to the avocado and season with some chopped chilli, salt, pepper and the remaining lime juice.

Plating:Place a small round mould in the middle of a plate. Fill the bottom

part of the mould with the Tartare mix, compress it carefully and top up with avocado salsa. Mix the lemon juice and olive oil together and season with salt, pepper and sugar. Pour over the herbs and let them marinade for a few minutes, before placing the herbs carefully on top of the tuna timbale. Decorate the plate with a few drops of lemon oil, a pinch of Piment d’Espelette and some balsamic reduction.

ThE nEW AuDI Q7 is almost a quantum leap forward for the model in terms of technology and features. While it boasts the same industry leading Quattro all-wheel-drive system and driver safety systems as last time, there are now a raft of new additions and driver assistance systems that really take it to another level.

The 2015 Q7 comes with the new 3.0l turbocharged V6 TFSI engine, putting out 333PS and 440Nm of torque in a smooth, linear delivery that really complimented the excellent driving experience.

For the European markets there was also the 3.0 TDI turbo diesel which we were fortunate enough to try, though this won’t be coming to the Middle East, which is a shame because we thought it was excellent.

This new model is also much lighter than its predecessor, 325kg, to be exact, thanks to wider use of aluminium and other lightweight

materials in its construction. All this equates to increased fuel efficiency of 27% for the petrol engine, making it the best in its class.

The passenger experience in the Q7 is second to none. The car is extremely spacious and comfortable, with the added practicality of an optional extra third row of seating to carry seven. The ride comfort is impressively smooth, even for a luxury SUV, thanks to the (optional) adaptive air suspension. It is also incredibly easy to drive, with light, responsive steering, and good all-round visibility aided by a 360 degree parking camera.

And we haven’t even started on the new technologies yet! Listing them all in detail would be impossible, so we’ll just go through some of our favourites: There is the pedestrian warning and brake assist, which will stop the car from running over someone walking into the road; there’s the

oncoming collision brake assist, which will stop you turning into an oncoming car; there is driverless parking for both parallel and perpendicular spaces, and finally; optional Android-based Audi tablets in the back featuring games, information and entertainment to keep kids both big and small quiet in the back on long journeys!

The infotainment system was one of the best we’ve seen, especially when mated to the stunning optional Bang & Olufsen premium speaker system. The navigation system uses Google Maps as an interface, which has the option of showing the Satellite imagery for a super clear view of the road.

Overall, there was really nothing we could find fault with in this new Q7 – everything in it has been taken to a whole new level. Audi have really come out swinging with this one, and we think the sales figures will speak for themselves.

النموذج الجديد أخف بكثير من السابق،بـ325 كيلوجرام،على وجه الدقة ،وذلك بفضل التوسع في استخدام األلمنيوم

وغيرها من المواد الخفيفة في صناعته،وكل ذلك يعادل زيادة كفاءة استهالك الوقود بنسبة 27 بلمائة لمحرك البنزين،مما

يجعلها األفضل في تجربة الركاب للسيارة ال يعلى عليه، حيث أن السيارة واسعة ومريحة للغاية،مع التطبيق العملي

المضاف للصف الثالث اإلضافي واالختياري،حيث الراحة في الركوب على نحو سلس والفت.

كما أنه من السهل للغاية قيادتها وتوجيهها ،باإلضافة إلى حسن الرؤية من جميع الجهات و المساعدة في الوقوف

بواسطة كاميرا الــ 360 درجة.

لدينا :هناك تحذير بوجود المشاة ومساعد للفرامل،الذي يجعل السيارة تتوقف في حين وجود أشخاصا في الطريق

وتشتمل السيارة على نظام الوقوف من دون سائق للمساحات المتوازية والمتعامدة ،وأخيرا،الشاشة الموجودة في مقاعد السيارة التي تضيف الترفيه لألطفال ،حيث يمكن

However, it can also be launched from a suitable boat ramp or beach, or even from the tender bay of a large yacht, and take off from the water, negating the need for an airfield completely.

Despite its compact size, the Icon A5 doesn’t compromise on comfort. It boasts a cosy cockpit with comfortable seating for two and an excellent field of vision to enjoy the excitement of the agile flight capabilities of the A5.

One of the most pioneering aspects of the Icon A5 is the Angle of Attack (AoA) system. The angle of attack, roughly translated, is the angle of the plane’s wing in relation to the oncoming air. If you pull up or turn sharply, the plane will still be travelling forwards while the wings will be flatter against the oncoming air, resulting in loss of speed. Every example of the new Luminor Submersible 1950 Carbotech is unique and different from all the others, thanks to the surprising technical and aesthetic characteristics of a

new composite material making its debut in haute horlogerie with Officine Panerai.


onE oF ThE SECrETS to the success of Officine Panerai is its ability to combine a fine tradition, which is always at the foundation of each new design, with a continuous thrust towards the future and innovation.

In 2010 Officine Panerai amazed the world of watchmaking by offering the Luminor Submersible for the first time with a case of bronze, an ancient material with unmistakable nautical associations, which is personalised by ageing with the passage of time.

Officine Panerai’s Workshop of Ideas now presents a remarkable new technical innovation which makes each example of this new Luminor Submersible different from the others. The case is made of carbotech, a composite material based on carbon fibre, never before used in the world of watchmaking.

As well as providing exceptional technical performance, carbotech has an uneven, matt black appearance, which varies according the cutting of the material, the result being that each example is unique. It is used to make the case, the rotating bezel and the lever bridge protecting the winding crown. To form the plates of carbotech from which these components are made, thin sheets of carbon fibres are compressed at a controlled temperature under high pressure together with a high-end polymer which binds the composite material, making it even stronger and more durable.

The mechanical benefits of carbotech are much higher than those of similar materials or of other materials used in the world of watchmaking, such as ceramics and titanium: carbotech is lighter than these and much more resistant to external solicitations, as well as being hypoallergenic and not subject to corrosion.

While the technology of the material looks to the future, every detail of the design of the watch is faithfully inspired by the history of the brand. The Luminor 1950 case (47 mm in diameter), developed by Panerai in the late 1940s to be worn on the wrists

The technological heart of the Luminor Submersible 1950 Carbotech is the P.9000 automatic calibre, developed and made by the Officine Panerai manufacturer in Neuchâtel. The movement, 133⁄4 lignes in diameter, has two spring barrels giving a power reserve of three days.

The screw-in caseback, which helps to ensure the watch’s high degree of water-resistance, is made of titanium with black treatment and it is engraved with elements characteristic of the Panerai brand: “Florence 1860”, the city and year of birth of Panerai watchmaking, and the image of a Slow Speed Torpedo (SLC), the notorious “pig” on which the commandos of the Italian Navy sailed through the depths of the sea on their missions in the 1940s while wearing instruments made by Panerai.
