It all started as a joke. A drawing done to post on DeviantArt based on one of my wifes invented words.

From there it turned into sporadic drawings and strips that I did for my own amusement and posted for fun.

It wasnt until Heroescon in Charlotte and meeting Chris Flick and John Bintz that I actually decided to try

and do a webcomic. Understand that I have no art training, or actual supplies to do this with. I have no skill

with programming or knowledge of Photoshop. I draw the strips at my job, using a paperback for a straight

edge, and a ball point pen for the artwork. I find out about free hosting sites and try out several before

settling on Drunk Duck, and a 3 day a week update schedule.

After a few months I went to a 5 day a week schedule, then to actual art pads, then Bristol pads. Along

the way I read nearly every book on cartooning and webcomics I could. I left Drunk Duck for my own site. It

was almost 200 strips in before I actually started using India Ink pen sets to do the artwork. As I write this Imon my second computer, second scanner, and third hard drive due to failures costing me all my scanned

artwork. I still draw at work or the kitchen table since I dont have or can afford an art desk and I have made

NO money off of any of it. Ive been insulted, told to quit, told I dont have any artistic talent, and asked why

I would pour so much time into this. Simple. Im doing something I enjoy, and how many people can say

that?

These first few strips were done with a ball point pen on copier paper at work. To make the panels for each

strip I just traced the outline of a paperback book..

The First Appearance of Biscuit Pete in the comic. He was created by my wife, who while battling a cold misheard an

announcer on T.V. When she asked who Biscuit Pete was I told her what he had actually said. After a laugh she made

the comment that Biscuit Pete sounded like a really bad super-hero. I agreed and when I started doing the strip added

B.P. to the cast.

So far the only power weve actually seen Biscuit Pete perform is the summoning of biscuits and flinging them with

superhuman accuracy. As to what he could learn from communicating with eggs? Usually its cold where they are.

Ha-Ha Honkey was actually the first character created for the strip. It was originally a phrase my wife and I used

to taunt each other in games. Then I drew up an angry cigar chomping clown one day, and the name seemed to fit.Once I decided to use Biscuit Pete, Ha-Ha was a natural as his nemesis.

The werewolf is named Roy and he appears in the webcomic Capes N Babes by Chris Flick. I had met Chris Flick at

HeroesCon in Charlotte and he helped give me the confidence to launch Hainted Holler as a full comic and not just a

I never realized so many young women were into necrophilia until these books came out. On another note this is the

first appearance of the Cheap Wig. Whenever I have to draw a new hairstyle on Annie, I still draw the points of her

hair sticking out and just blame it on a cheap wig.

I used Nacho Mamas as the restaurant name because I thought it was funny. After the strip came out a friend

informed me its the name of an actual restaurant in Richmond Virginia.

I dont understand the connection between how difficult a game is to beat and its entertainment value. I play a game

to relax and enjoy myself. Still if someone wanted to make all the Hardcore crowd happy, heres a good place to start.

Wilmas first appearance as a character. She was heard in one of the first strips , but this is our first look at her. The

idea for the strip came from a girl one of my cousins used to date.

I came up with the idea for The Boon after getting fed up with commercials for a loan company that kept being played

on television. One night after seeing it for the umpteenth time I said I would love to see a baboon jump out and rape

the spokesman in the ear. It was too good an idea not to use in the strip.

I just want to say that the HHN motto is still one of my favorite things.

The original for this was destroyed by water leaking from a houseplant and the high quality version lost when my

motherboard died. This is the best quality version left. Oh and its the first appearance of Jerry, Lees best friend since

high school.

I love Monsterquest on the History channel, and decided to revamp it for the South. My favorite Doctor from Doctor

Who is also Tom Baker, the fourth Doctor, so its just natural Id use him for the punchline.

From here I used Canson Fanboy Comic Strip Boards for a while. The thing I liked about them was everything was

premeasured so I could just quickly frame up a strip and start drawing. The down side was they added blanks to one

side of the pages for strip info. This made them a pain to scan.
