377 Draft Ewes

Much larger entry met a strong trade throughout, several pens over £90 to a top of £94 from

Messrs Colwill & Wickett, Trewithen, Laneast. Hill bred ewes to £59.

227 Fat Lamb

The lamb trade

narrowly has dropped

back over the past few

days, one reason being

a lot of lean lambs

coming onto the

market which are

harder to sell. Top per kilo was 175p for 4 pens of well fleshed lambs from four different

vendors. 8 Pens over £80 to a top of £85.

312 Store Lambs

Smaller entry again met a very fast trade and a lot more could have been sold. Top on the day

was £69 from Messrs A & S Vallance, Kilworthy, Tavistock.

37 Rams

A firm trade top call on the day was £400 for 2 Texel Shearlings from Jack Neale & Sons, Wilkey

Down. Charollais Shearling sold to £340 from Louise Brewer of St Merryn.

898 Breeding Ewes

Good entry with a large crowd of perspective buyers present and a strong trade was met, top

being £130 for a pen of Suffolk x 2T from Mr Derek Daniel, Lower Wheatley, North Petherwin.

Mule 2T sold to a top of £122 from David Beck, Bude who realised £120 for another 2 pens.

Henry Banbury of Winkleigh realised £94 for his 2 pens of Mule FM. Richard Robson saw his 1st

pen realised £80 and his running lambs realised £65.

More Cattle and more buyers in attendance and a strong trade was met

throughout, for all ages. Top call on the day was £1235 for Hereford x

Steer with another at £1005 both sold by Messrs WS Harris & Sons,

Tregooden, St Tudy and their Limousin x Steers topped at £1195. Messrs

Gribble & Moore saw their best bunch of Charolais x Steers top at £1095

and another at £1080. Several bunches of Friesian Steers over £800 to a

top of £895 from Messrs Blewett and Partners, Carsella Farm, St Dennis.

14 Cows and Calves again met with much interest with two vendors

realising £1100. Messrs M & V Batten, Trekeive Barton, Common Moor

for a South Devon Cow and Calf and Tom Hannaford, Whitstone for a

Hereford x outfit.

The role: Kivells are looking for a full time Market Receptionist at the busy Holsworthy Livestock Market. The

successful candidate will work on reception together with undertaking administration for the agricultural

department. Likely duties will include assisting clients both face to face and by telephone, supporting the

cattle auctioneer, preparing catalogues for sale, market reports and advertising.

The candidate: will be bright, cheerful, willing to help and quick to learn. The successful candidate will

possess excellent customer service skills, be organised, computer literate and be able to work on their own.

A background knowledge in agriculture is an advantage.

This is an interesting and varied role requiring a candidate with a strong work ethic and the ability to adapt.

Immediate start available.

Working Hours: Monday to Friday 8.30am to 5.15pm. Additional hours for some Saturday sales will also be

required.
