  • Defining a set of books takes 5 tabs to accommodate all fieldsMultiple steps required to assign sets of books and specify conversion options/rules

Streamlined the setup and implementation of Oracle Financial Applications Centralized the setup for the common setup components like: Legal Entities, Operating Units, Ledgers, etc.

Results:Customers now have better access to setup informationCustomers will make fewer setup mistakes, save time, and improve operational efficiencies. Reinforces the EBS message of a single-integrated suite

This new global financial architecture is the result of several years of work and can be illustrated like this. Multiple Ledgers represents the new and improved ledger architecture that directly supports faster, simpler period end closing. At the top, you see the new General Ledger model. Sets of Books have been replaced by Ledgers within Ledger Sets. A ledger, is specifically the general accounting for a company. Now, opening and closing, calendar management, and reporting move to the Ledger Set rather than the individual ledger. And: you can write accounting adjustments across the ledger set, and the results will be posted into the individual ledgers.

Centralized Architecture Weve also provided a centralized architecture which allows you to not only centralize core features but also creates standardization across the enterprise. This centralized architecture offers greater control in 4 areas: an extremely powerful accounting engine for all subsystem accounting, a new bank and payments module, a robust intercompany system, and a very powerful global tax engine

Role-based Access Control to Operating Units Lastly, youll see how a singe responsibility can not only access data across operating units, but can also execute a set of actions across operating units.

Well look at each one of these key areas in detail in the next few slides.

Linda: And to simplify your processes and help you prevent accounting errors during the close, you can define alternate accounts for accounts that when you disable an account and define a replacement, the system will replace the disabled account with an enabled one and not error during the accounting process.

Theresa: Do both SLA and GL do this?

Linda: Yes, both SLA and GL can recognize the replacement account. These are all the different types of definition and setup that can be secured using definition access sets. Works for GL onlyEnhanced bank account model will allow assigning the same account to multiple organizations Strict adherence to revenue recognition policies is crucial to the financial health and stability of any enterprise. In R12, Oracle Receivables provides a wide range of revenue management options including the ability to map your business model to the appropriate revenue schedules. Automate the recognition of revenue or revenue schedules when your least creditworthy customers pay and certain contractual provisions expire. Pass additional revenue-impacting events from external systems or utilize the revenue accounting module to record real-time acceptance and revenue adjustments as needed.

Many customers today have very strong business requirements in the reporting area around the e-Business Suite. These include:

High Fidelity Reports: These reports are rich in images, charts, multiple fonts and color are a very desirable feature for reports when they are to be distributed in and outside the company.Partner ReportsThese include Invoices, Purchase Orders and Checks, which require rich content and are currently highly customized.Financial StatementsFinancial statements need to be presented to shareholders and upper management in a high fidelity format; your accounts would rather see them in Microsoft Excel.Government FormsMany government agencies now demand that you interact with them in a specific format e.g. tax forms.Marketing MaterialsThe marketing materials generated by companies require rich personalized content.ContractsInteracting with your customers and suppliers often requires written contracts that need to be presented in a high fidelity format.ChecksThe checks you send to employees and suppliers require a specific format and even ink so that their banks are able to process them.LabelsAny company generating product will need to label it often including a barcode.XMLB2B interaction requires XML as the format and this may require a transformation of one xml format to another.EFT/EDIElectronic File Transfer (EFT) and (EDI) are formats used to communicate with your banks and partners.Multiple DestinationsOf course all of these documents then need to be delivered to a report consumer be that via email, fax or printer.Total =395

When the bar code functionality is enabled, a bar code will be printed at the top left or right side of the expense report confirmation page, depending on the users language assignment. The location and size of the bar code are fixed. The bar code contains the report header ID which is also printed below the bar code image. This ID may be hidden via the personalization framework. A new column in the expense header table will store the bar code. Central engines for payments, tax, accounting and entities stored in one place.Geography model for tax regimes, simpler tax rules. Bank accounts. Pay payees, not just suppliers, etc. Payables/Purchasing:By representing Suppliers as part of the trading community, you have access to many of the features provided by TCA.

E-Business Tax:User interfaces are provided to create and manage a foundation of geographies and geographical hierarchies for the purpose of tax validation. Once the foundation of geographies is established, tax administrators can define flexible zones without impacting the underlying geographies themselves.

Oracle Payments:Oracle Payments serves as a payment data repository on top of the Trading Community Architecture (TCA) data model. The TCA model holds the party information. Oracle Payments then stores all of the partys payment information and its payment instruments (such as credit cards and bank accounts). In release 11i, this information was held separately in different applications such as in the Oracle Purchasing supplier and the Oracle Payables bank account entities. This common repository for payment data provides improved data security by allowing central encryption management and masking control of payment instrument information. Cash Management:Bank Account Model: Overall, the set up, maintenance, and control of all internal bank account information is much easier and more reliable with this new feature. It provides a single access point for defining and managing internal bank accounts for Oracle Payables, Oracle Receivables, Oracle Payroll, Oracle Cash Management, and Oracle Treasury. Bank account access for each application is explicit for internal security and control purposes. Each account is associated with a Bank and Bank Branch defined in Oracles common Trading Community Architecture (TCA).This page represents the Progress Payment Schedule and is central to the Complex Services Procurement functionality.Drawing your attention to the tab structure, youll notice that Schedules has been replaced with Pay Items to represent that the fact that this contract does not have delivery schedules instead it has a Progress Payment Schedule.Lump Sum pay items, as the name suggest, are based on a Lump Sum amount allocated to a portion of work. Progress payments can be released for these pay items based on the level of completion. In our example we have 2 lump sum pay items, one for Resurfacing the entire parking lot for 20,000 dollars, and another for Road work for a total amount of 50,000 dollars.Rate pay items are based on a Rate of work completion. Payments for these can be claimed as units of work are completed. In our example we have a rate pay item for Landscape designer services for 25 Hrs at 1000.00 per hour.Milestone pay items are based on a milestone in the contract or event that needs to be fully complete before the associated payment can be claimed by the contractor. In our example, the milestone for claiming the last 50,000 dollars on the contract is to complete the final painting on the parking lot.As work is completed or costs are gathered, the supplier will continue to submit Work Confirmations, which in turn, are reviewed and approved by your internal representatives. Approved Work Confirmations become invoices in Payables where advances are recouped and retainage is withheld until the maximum retainage amount stipulated on the contract is reached. As the project comes to a close, the supplier will request the Retained amounts.End-to-end process from authorization through settlement and acknowledgement can be automatedHandles credit and debit card captures and electronic bank transfers from multiple calling products in EBSUpstream products call Payments to authorize transaction with third party payment system Routing rules drive how the transaction will be processed and which third party payment system will be usedPayments calls payment system in individual or batch mode to request settlementPayments automatically queries payment system for acknowledgement of transaction successBring up on stage two customers to tell the audience about their experiences.

Manpower Associates is a $14.9B global company with 27,000 employees in the temporary staffing business. Manpower runs a combined PeopleSoft Enterprise and JD Edwards EnterpriseOne shop. These experts in human resources use Enterprise HCM for their own staffing and EnterpriseOne Payroll and Service Billing for handling the large volumes of US-based temporary staff. Manpower is very happy with Oracles support since purchasing PeopleSoft and is looking forward to a long relationship with Oracle.

Spokesperson will be Jay Schaudies, Vice President, Global eCommerce.

Welch Foods is the food processing and marketing arm of National Grape Cooperative Association. Organized in 1945, National Grape is a grower-owned agricultural cooperative with 1,461 members. The company, headquartered in Concord, Massachusetts, operates six plants located in Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania and Washington. The company was running a mix of legacy, home grown, and manual systems that failed to provide senior management with accurate and timely cost and production information. Welchs required a centralized manufacturing and financial information system to improve management decision making. The solution had to be hot-pluggable with existing technologies, for example, Welchs Plumtree portal.

Welch Foods chose Oracle over SAP for this business-critical application. The key to the customers business problem was their ability to manage costs. The companys costs are driven by fruit solid content in each of their products, and they use a specialized technique called BRIX for measuring and calculating the cost of materials. Welchs compared SAP and Oracle SAPs software was too rigid and, therefore, unable to include the BRIX calculation in their manufacturing solution. Only Oracles OPM could bind this custom cost method into the Quality Management Process.

Technology customer yet to be determined. Current possibilities include eBay and FTD Florists.
