Shri Prakash Pant, Finance Minister, Government of Uttarakhand was the Chief Guest on the occasion. Mr. K. G. Suresh, Director General, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Mr. Ashok Shrivastav, TV Journalist, Doordarshan, Mr. Abhijit Majumder, Chief Editor, mynation.com website and Mr. Deepak Upadhyay, Head, Zee International were special guests of the conclave. The conclave was inaugurated with the lighting of the lamp. Prof. Rakesh Ranjan, Vice Chancellor Himgiri Zee University welcomed all the dignitaries. Mr. Prakash Pant emphasized on the changing paradigms of new media and its relevance in democracy and contemporary information era. He also pointed out that communication revolution has offered various advantages to human beings. TV Journalist Mr. Ashok Shrivastav highlighted how new media is affecting the broadcast media. Mr. K.G. Suresh explained the emergence of new media and its positive aspects especially employment opportunities for the youth. Mr. Abhijit Majumder shared his views on digitalization of media and functioning of news portals. Journalist Anurag Sharma was the moderator for the session. Students also got the opportunities to interact with experts and raise queries regarding New Media. To showcase the cultural diversity of North East India, Himgiri Zee University organized Colors of North Eastin its campus on 19 th November. This event highlighted the cultural richness of North Eastern states of India – which are collectively known as Seven Sisters and One Brother’. Regional folk dances, traditional dresses, North Eastern cuisine, Fashion Show and T-Shirt Painting competition were the main attractions of the event. Vice Chancellor Prof. Rakesh Ranjan inaugurated the event by lighting Respect the Cultural Diversity of India: Prof. Ranjan the lamp. In his opening address, he emphasized on Unity in Diversityphilosophy of India. He shared the importance of cultural ethos in the society and encouraged students to respect the traditions of all Indian states, work cohesively, maintain the cultural diversity of India and contribute positively towards the growth of the nation. The event was successfully organized by Rahul Kukreti, Sanjeev Kumar, Ritesh Uniyal, Jitendra Rawat, Deepika Ghildiyal, Bhawna Singh, Akanksha Sharma and other team members.

Considering the growing influence of new media and its enormous

Zee Varsity organized National Seminar on ‘Marching

Towards Green Future’

Himgiri Zee University, Dehradun organized a National Seminar on 22nd

November with a theme of “Marching Towards Green Future”. Seminar

started with inaugural ceremony graced by Vice Chancellor Prof. Rakesh

Ranjan, Registrar Dr. B K Ambasta along with keynote speaker Dr. Uday K

Sinha, Additional Professor, Institute of Human behavior & allied sciences.

In the Inaugural speech, Vice Chancellor Prof. Rakesh Ranjan emphasized

on the relevance of the seminar’s theme. He highlighted on the importance

of environmental protection and every individual’s contribution in

sustainable practices for green future.

Around 80 abstracts were received from different universities & colleges

like Amity University Noida, Gurukul Kangari Haridwar, NSHM Durgapur

WB, JNTU Hyderabad, Kumaon University, Nainital, CIHM Chandigarh,

AIHM Haldwani and universities of Dehradun. The souvenir contained 65

abstracts on various innovative and creative ideas. Faculty from Himgiri Zee

University contributed with 11 abstracts in the souvenir. A brain storming

session for the students was also conducted. The topic for the session was

“Green Vs Grey”.

The program was concluded with Vote of Thanks by Dr. B K

Ambasta, Registrar, Himgiri Zee University. The seminar was attended

by head and faculty members of all the departments, Mr. Vishnu

Mathur - Senior Administrative Officer, research scholars and students

of various departments. The event was made successful by the efforts

of Mr. Amit Kumar, Ms. Meenakshi Semwal, Ms. Jaya Verma Negi,

Mr. Pushpendra Verma, Ms. Stuti, Mr. Anurag Sajwan and Mr. Ashish

Dhyani.

Department of Legal Studies celebrated Indian constitution Day on 26th

November. Dr. BR Ambedkar along with members of the drafting committee

work relentlessly for 2 years 11 months & 18 days and designed the final

draft of Indian Constitution on 26th November 1949. On the occasion,

Department of Legal Studies organized a program on various pertinent legal

issues. Mr. Sudheer Deoli, Head, School of Journalism & Mass

Communication and Ar. Anil Bharti, Head, Department of Architecture

shared their views on Indian Constitution. Advocate Surendra Verma and

Advocate Gaurav Tripathi explained the tax reforms, GST and its relevance

in Indian context. Mr. Deepak Chandola expressed his views on Preamble

and essence of Indian constitution. Mr. Praveen Rathi informed students

about FIR, how to report FIR and rights of the victim. All students of the

Department of legal studies attended the seminar. This event was

successfully coordinated by Mr. Praveen Rathi, Mr. Bhupnesh Kumar and

other faculty members of the department.

ENLIGHTEN’18 – Diwali Celebration @ Department of Architecture and Planning

Department of Hotel & Tourism Management organized industrial

visit to Jaipur for students of various programs of the department

from 20th-23rd November. The purpose of the industrial visit was to

give practical exposure to students and make them aware about basic

operational aspects of the industry. During the industrial visit, BHM

& DHM students visited Hotel Sarovar Portico by Carlson, Hotel

Hometel by Carlson and Park Inn by Radission. Students also got

the opportunity to interact with hotel managers. BTTM students

visited Pushkar Fair and famous tourist destinations of Jaipur. The

tour was accompanied by Mr. Subodh Choudhary, Associate Dean

& Head of the Department, Mr. Suraj Negi, Mr. Pradeep Bhatt and

Ms. Megha Sharma.

A Diwali fest was organized in the Department of Architecture and Planning

on 2nd November. The purpose of the fest was to encourage the students for

participation, boost their leadership qualities for organizing an event and

motivate their creative abilities. The event started with lighting of the lamp by

Prof. Rakesh Ranjan, Vice Chancellor, Himgiri Zee University. Dr. B.K.

Ambasta – Registrar, Mr. Anter Deep Singh - Chief Financial Officer, Mr.

Vishnu Mathur - Senior administrative officer, Head and faculty members

along with administrative staff graced the event by their presence.

The event showcased dance, food, games and exhibition which included

handmade decorative items like diyas, candles, lamps, sculptures and hangings

for selling purposes. Students participated in different activities of the event.

At the end, students were awarded with a small token of appreciation and

tags like The Creative Mind, The Fashion Diva, The Enthusiast and The

Makers of the Constitution Remembered at HZU

Team Leader by the Dean. Students worked relentlessly to make

this event successful with the support of Associate Dean Ar.
