Prof. Rakesh Ranjan, Vice Chancellor, Himgiri Zee University, Mr. Sudhir Chaudhary, CFO Mr. Anterdeep Singh and Mr. Vishnu Mathur inaugurated the event with the lighting of the lamp. Prof. Ranjan welcomed Mr. Sudhir Chaudhary and thanked him for accepting the invitation. Mr. Chaudhary shared his invaluable experience with young budding journalists and media-profession aspirants. He emphasized on the knowledge of contemporary socio-economical & political issues, modern technologies and internet. He also highlighted that besides academic orientation, students must have employable skills to meet Himgiri Voice - A Monthly e-Newspaper of School of Media, Journalism & Film Making, Himgiri Zee University, Dehradun Notable Journalist Sudhir Chaudhary Shared Journalism Mantras with Students the requirements of media industry. He pointed out that boldness, balance and objectivity are the main elements of good journalist. He shared his real-life experience of reporting with students especially Kargil war and Nirbhaya case reporting. He also praised the efforts of School of Media, Journalism and Film Making of Himgiri Zee University for successfully organizing the event. Students of Himgiri Zee University and renowned schools of Dehradun also attended the event. The event was organized successfully due to the efforts of CFO Mr. Anterdeep Singh, SAO Mr. Vishnu Mathur, Marketing Head Mr. Rahul Kukreti, Mr. Sudheer Deoli and staff members of the University. September 5, Birthday of Dr. S. Radhakrishnan as Teachersday was celebrated in Himgiri Zee University. Students of various departments participated in multifarious activities to commemorate the birth of great teacher, educationist and a leader. It was also an occasion to pay their respects to their teachers. The occasion was witness to the presence of Prof. Rakesh Ranjan, Vice-Chancellor, Heads and faculty members of all departments. The students extended a warm welcome to all the dignitaries present on the occasion. The program started with lamp lighting by Prof. Rakesh Ranjan, Vice Chancellor, Himgiri Zee University. TeachersDay Celebrated with Great Enthusiasm This was followed by various cultural performances such as skit, dance and songs by students. The students enthralled the audi- ence with their excellent performances. On this auspicious occasion, Prof. Ranjan wished all faculty members a very Happy TeachersDay and appreciates their selfless contribution in sharing knowledge as well as inculcating values to students. All the faculty members appreciated the efforts and love shown by the students.

Himgiri Zee University invited Mr. Sudhir Chaudhary, Editor-in-Chief

World Tourism Day Organized in Zee University

Department of Hotel Management celebrated World Tourism Day on

September 27, 2018. ‘Tourism and the Digital Transformation’ was the

theme of the event as announced by United Nations World Tourism

Organization. Prof. Rakesh Ranjan, Vice Chancellor Himgiri Zee

University inaugurated the event with the lighting of lamp. In his

inaugural address, Prof. Ranjan highlighted the tourism and hospitality

potential of India and motivated students to learn basics and job related

skills of hospitality sector.

Mr. Ashish Dhyani, Assistant Professor appraised all dignitaries, Heads

and faculty members about growth of Indian tourism and hospitality

industry, achievements of the Department and theme of world tourism day.

Students mesmerized the audience with their cultural performances

including skit, folk dances, and an Assamese song. For students, chef

competition (co-ordinated by Chef Sunil Kumar), Mocktails competition,

essay competition and GK quiz (co-ordinated by Mr Suraj Negi & Dr.

Ajay Chaurasia) was also organized by the department. The convener of

the event, Mr. Subodh Choudhary, Associate Dean & Head congratulated

all faculty and staff members of Department of Hotel Management for

successful organization of the event.

Department of Management organized one day workshop on ‘Time and

Stress Management’ for all students of different programs of Himgiri

Zee University on September 14. The objective of the workshop was to

imbibe the sense of time management and handling stress in tough

situations among students. Prof. Rakesh Ranjan, Vice Chancellor,

Himgiri Zee University, Registrar and Mr. Yogesh Nanda, Resource

person inaugurated the workshop with lamp lighting. Prof. Ranjan

appraised students about the ‘power of positive thinking’. He shared

some examples of real life situations and encouraged students for

positive thinking in personal and professional life.

Mr. Yogesh Nanda, Resource person and soft skill trainer emphasized

on handling failures and how to cope with the stressful situations of

professional life. He demonstrated some stress handling and team

building games for better management of tough situations. Student felt

motivated and enthusiastic after attending this workshop. CFO

Anterdeep Singh, Mr. Vishnu Mathur, Senior Admin Officer,

Departmental Heads and all faculty members of the department of

Management attended the workshop.

School of Planning and Architecture invited Prof. R. Shankar, former

senior Professor & Head, Department of Architecture and Planning, IIT

Roorkee to deliver a guest lecture on “Nature, Culture – Architecture and

Design” on September 27. In his long and accomplished academic career

of four decades, Prof. Shankar guided six doctoral scholars and authored

more than 90 research/ technical papers. His professional consultancy

work includes the planning and design of PTCUL Headquarters complex at

Dehradun, campus landscaping and preparation of master plans for Greater

NOIDA extension, Gangotri, and Haridwar Ghats Development.

In his lecture, Prof. Shankar explained the inter-relationship of the nature,

culture, architecture and designing process. He addressed about signs of

nature, natural dwellings with the role of environment and the differences

in architecture due to the climate and culture of that particular area. He

gave illustrations of the architecture of different regions of India as well as

abroad and how they are affected due to the climate of that particular

region. Students felt this guest lecture informational and interesting.

Workshop on ‘Time & Stress Management’

Guest Lecture on ‘Nature, Culture - Architecture and Design’ Department of Hotel Management organized a workshop on “Vodka

based cocktails” for BHM students. In this workshop, students have

learnt to prepare popular worldwide Vodka based cocktails like -

Bloody Mary, Blue Lagoon, Screw Driver, Kamikaze, Quite Sunday,

Harvey Wall banger, Cosmopolitan etc. After the completion of

workshop, students were confident of making cocktails.

Mr. Anil Bharti presented a paper titled “Pedestrian accessibility at Dashashwamegh Ghat-Varanasi, India” in World Congress on Innovative Research in “Architecture, Civil, Built Environment Environmental Engineering for Sustainable Development” held at Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, on 29th September, 2018.
