HIMGIRI VOICE ISSUE 8 MARCH 2018 For Internal Circulation Only | Not for Sale Himgiri Zee University celebrated its annual festival Expressionon March, 15-16. The two days event was a complete feast for the students, staff and guests of the University. With the lighting of Lamp, Prof. Rakesh Ranjan, Vice Chancellor, Himgiri Zee University inaugurated Expression 2018. In his inaugural address, Prof. Rakesh Ranjan emphasized on the importance of culture in the life of every individual and asked students to preserve the rich heritage and culture of India. He also motivated students to do well in every sphere of life. On second day, Ada Mrs. India graced the occasion as the special guest to Ramp walk and Fashion competition. The fusion and contemporary music of MTV fame DJ Perisha, DJ Sach and Singer Ankky Bali made students danced throughout the evening. Students of the University also participated in various sports and cultural events in Expression 2018 with great zeal and enthusiasm. Mr. Anterdeep Singh, Chief Finance Officer added that the event of Himgiri Voice - A Monthly e-Newspaper of School of Media, Journalism & Film Making, Himgiri Zee University, Dehradun Himgiri Zee Varsity Celebrated Annual Fest EXPRESSION2018 was a huge success and he thanked all the team members and students of the organizing committee for this wonderful event. The event was completed with support of CFO Mr. Anterdeep Singh, Senior Administrative Officer Mr. Vishnu Mathur, Mr. Sudheer Deoli, Sanjeev Kumar, Priyanka, Rishabh, Mrs. Akanksha Shrivastav, all faculty members and staff. On first day, Habib Tanvirs Naya Theatre artists performed the famous play Charan Das Chor’. This play was arranged by SPIC Macay Dehradun team. The most prominent artist of the day was Omkardas Manikpuri, who acted as Nathha, the protagonist in the movie Peepli Live. In the evening, prominent bands of the city competed in War of Bands. All bands mesmerized audience with their compositions and performance. Melodic Watch was declared winner in this program. Mr. Vivek Dhyani of Studio Carpediom and Mr. Manish Thapliyal were the judges of this program.

Himgiri Zee University celebrated its annual festival ‘Expression’ on

March, 15-16. The two days event was a complete feast for the

students, staff and guests of the University. With the lighting of

Lamp, Prof. Rakesh Ranjan, Vice Chancellor, Himgiri Zee

University inaugurated Expression 2018. In his inaugural address,

Prof. Rakesh Ranjan emphasized on the importance of culture in the

Department of Management organized seminar on

Digital Marketing

Department of Management organized a seminar on ‘Digital Marketing’ on

7th March. The theme of the seminar was “Introduction to Digital

Marketing, Scenario in India & Career Opportunities”. The main speaker of

the seminar was Mr. Shyam Kapri (B.Tech 1994-98, EPGP 2015-17, IIM

Kashipur). Mr Kapri highlighted the role of social media in business, social

and political aspects of life. He covered blogging activity with content

writing, search engine optimization, social media, e-mail, Google Adwords

and Analytics. He explained the benefits of digital marketing by giving

practical cases from the Industry. Prof. Rakesh Ranjan, Vice Chancellor,

Md. Saifullah Khalid, Head - Department of Management, faculty members,

and students of various departments were present during the seminar. The

seminar was informative and appreciated by audience.

On World Theatre Day, Doordarshan Dehradun invited Mr. Kailash

Kandwal, Assistant Professor, Department of Media, Journalism & Film

Making and Mr. S.P Mamgain, a senior theatre artist as specialists in the

panel discussion. The discussion, aired on Doordarshan on 27th March,

picked up the issue ‘hindi naatakon ki dasha aur disha’. Both the senior

personality Uttarakhand theatre highlighted the lack of resources and

commitment as barriers for poor orientation towards theatre.

Department of Forestry Celebrated

World Forestry Day

Department of Forestry celebrated ‘World Forestry Day’ on March

21. The theme for the program was “Forests and Sustainable Cities”.

The program commenced with presenting the token of appreciation

in the form of live flora (grown by students in the University nursery)

and handmade badges prepared by students with quotation “Save the

forests”. Followed by silent march by forestry students expressing

their views on “Sustainable Cities and Forests” through posters. Vice

Chancellor, Prof. Rakesh Ranjan addressed the gathering by calling

upon students to seek new ways of energy and development, which

go hand in hand with ecology of a particular area. This event

included a series of programs like song entitled giving trees, skit &

decoration with waste materials. Students participated in various

programs with positive energy and spirit. The program ended with

vote of thanks given by Prof. Alok Mishra.

Varsity Celebrated International Women Day

Doordarshan Dehradun invited Kailash Kandwal as a Panelist

On the occasion of International Women Day, Zee Varsity organized a

program marking the struggles of people who fought for the rights of

females all over the world. The program was started by Vice

Chancellor Prof. Rakesh Ranjan. He highlighted that media and

Journalism is the field where the percentage of women as employees is

highest at 35 percent. He also emphasized now women are equal to

men in all domains. Students also shared their views about the women

who has significant influence on their life. There was March for unity

where all the male and female staff of university emphasized about the

equality of both the genders in unison. The event was coordinated and

arranged by the efforts of Ms. Ankita Uniyal, Ms. Priyanka, Mr.

Vikas Chauhan, Mr. Sanjeev Kumar and Mr. Kailash Kandwal.

Faculty Seminar Participation

Dr. Parikshit Kala & Md. Saifullah Khalid of Department of Management

presented a research paper titled “Development of Sustainable Supply

Chain: A search for New Competitive Advantage” in Research Conference

on Operations & Supply Chain Management at Symbiosis Institute of

Operations Management on February 17-18. This paper is also accepted to

be published in Scopus Indexed Journal.

Mr Deepak Chandola, Mr Amit Kumar, Mr Pushpendra Verma, Mr Pankaj

Maithani of Department of Engineering presented a research paper titled

“Green Energy For Sustainable future” in national seminar at Dev Bhoomi

Group of Institution on March 17. Mr Deepak Chandola & Mr Pankaj

Maithani was awarded 2nd & 3rd best paper presenter respectively.

UPCOMING EVENT

This March 2018 University witnessed vigor, valor, energy, teamwork when annual

sports meet SPARDHAA 2018 started where students of all departments fought on

the field for SPARDHAA 2018 Trophies. Prof. Rakesh Ranjan, Vice Chancellor had

initiated a separate annual sports meet “SPARDHAA 2018” this year. Heat started

building up right from first match of Football tournament on 6th March followed by

cricket and badminton, table tennis, carom, chess, basketball matches. SPARDHAA

2018 closed on March 13, with the last matches of the Volleyball tournament. The

HZU Air was bumped with adrenaline as the matches were played, sweating players

and yelling supports. Amidst the scorching Heat of March Sun, this SPARDHAA

2018 ended some most memorable matches like the football final match between

Mutant Football club versus NOOB XI. The match was undecided after full play of

90 minutes score mutants F.C.1 – NOOB XI. The audience students /faculties/ staff

watched spell bound cheering crazy for their favorite team as evening walked towards

darkness, field lights waking up to brightened the football field. The empires decided

for extra time, with no result. Therefore, it was called for penalty shootout. Mutants’

goalkeeper Ketousezo Natso blocking the shoot from Manas. The penalty shoot

resulted with Mutants-5 and NOOB XI-4. Mutant football club won the football

tournament with nail biting challenge from NOOB XI. “SPARDHAA 2018” annual

sports meet ended with all winners- players, participants, volunteers, giving way to

the Annual Fest “ Expression – 2018”.

Prize distribution ceremony was organized on 27 March 2018. The Trophies were

awarded by Vice Chancellor to winners of Football Tournament, Cricket Tournament,

Basketball Tournament and Volleyball tournament. Senior Administrative Officer

distributed Certificates and medals to each player of the winner and runner up teams.

Mr. Rakesh Arya thanked Prof. Ranjan for giving separate identity to the annual

sports meet. He also thanked Chief Finance Officer, Senior Administrative officer and

all students for their support and participation.
