Kothari, a veteran educationist who has held leadership positions at engineering institutions in India including IIT Delhi, VNIT Nagpur and VIT University Vellore delivered a special lecture on Indian Higher Education Scenario: Challenges & Future Prospectson July 20, 2018. Prof. Rakesh Ranjan, Vice Chancellor, Himgiri Zee University, introduced Dr. Kothari and his achievements to Indian higher education. In his lecture, Prof. Kothari highlighted how Indian higher education is going to face unprecedented transformations in the coming decade. Government plans are in place to transform the sector over the next five years. Every aspect of higher education is being reorganized and remodeled: funding, leadership and management, quality assurance, accountability, relationships with industry, international collaboration, and the way research and teaching are conducted. He also highlighted the way premier higher education institutions such as IIT Kharagpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Roorkee and BITS Pilani were established. He also explain the relevance of quality research, academic rigour and quality of teachers in higher education institutions. He also explained the emerging challenges and future prospects for University teachers. He also suggested some valuable suggestions to faculty members. The lecture was inspiring and motivational for all the faculty members. Mr. Anter Deep Singh, Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Vishnu Mathur, Senior Administrative Officer, Heads and faculty members of all the departments attended the session. At the end, Prof. Rakesh Ranjan thanked Prof. Kothari for his valuable thoughts. A Research Degree Committee meeting was organized on July 16, 2018. Prof. S.P. Kala (Ex-Dean, Faculty of Management, Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University, Srinagar Garhwal was the external expert for the RDC. The Internal Committee members were Dr. Dalbir Singh Gariya, Head – Department of Education, Dr. Sharad Pandey, Head - Department of Agriculture, Dr. Parikshit Kala, Assistant Professor, Department of Management. This meeting was also attended by Md. Saifullah Khalid, Head - Department of Management, Ms. Abha Sharma, Dr. Anup Pokhriyal and Ms. Charu Sharma. Mr. Rakesh Arya, Head—Department of CS&IT also rendered his technical help for smooth conduct of research presentations. Research scholars of various departments presented their synopsis proposal to the committee. RDC members Prof. S.P. Kala, Dr. Sharad Pandey, Dr. Dalbir Gariya and Dr. Praikshit Kala guided and approved the synopsis of Research Degree Committee guided scholars for quality Doctoral work research scholars with necessary changes. Prof. Kala also provided valuable feedback on improving the novelty of research proposals. He instructed research scholars to read quality research papers and to make efforts to publish papers in reputed research journals.

Prof. D. P. Kothari, a veteran educationist who has held leadership

positions at engineering institutions in India including IIT Delhi,

Faculty Development Program on Effective

Teaching Skills

An Intra-Department Faculty Development Program was conducted

from 5th to 19th July in the Department of Agriculture. This FDP was

organized by Dr. Sharad Pandey, Associate Dean and Head,

Department of Agriculture, with a view to develop Effective Teaching

Skills focusing on ‘Innovations in Teaching’. The program focused on

the key areas of academic delivery such as plan of lecture, board

management, handwriting, voice clarity, pitch, art of explanation, body

language, movement, classroom management strategies and effective

teaching. Mock lectures were also held in lecture theatre with all real

classroom situations. Dr. Sharad Pandey delivered the demo lecture

and shared his teaching experiences along with ways and means for

effective teaching. All the participants also delivered mock lectures.

Each mock lecture was followed by a round of questions and feedback,

where participants were able to realize their strengths and weaknesses

and the specific area of improvement. It was a great learning

experience and skill development exercise for all the faculty members.

Mr. Chandra Dev Bhatt and Ms. Nirupama Chauhan,

Department of Management published a research paper

titled “Demonetization – Its role and impact on our

society” in ANWESH – International Journal of

Management and Information Technology.

Dr. Jai Jayant joined as Assistant Professor in Faculty of Management. He

earned his Ph.D. degree in 2016 from Banaras Hindu University in finance.

Dr. Tarun Nawani joined as Assistant Professor , Department of Management.

He received his doctorate degree in 2017 from HNB Garhwal Central University,

Uttarakhand. He has over 10 years of experience working in various institutions.

Ar. Ramanjyot Shrivastava joined as Associate Professor in Faculty of

Architecture. Ar. Ramanjyot has done M. Arch (Landscape) and presently pursuing

PhD. She has a rich experience of 10 years as a Private Practitioner and 9 years of

teaching experience in various Architecture colleges.

Mr. Atul Kumar joined in the Depar tment of Forestry and Fisher ies. He holds

B.Sc. Forestry from College of Forestry, Ranichauri. VCSG UUHF Bharsar and

M.Sc. Forestry (Specialization in Wood Science & Technology) from FRI

Dehradun.

Ms. Archana Naganyal joined in the Department of Forestry and Fisher ies as

Teaching Associate. She has done BFSc and MFSc (Fisheries science).
