Block Assembly1. Sew (1) 2” x 10 ½” Fabric B strip to each side of (1) 10 ½” Fabric A block. Sew (1) 2” x 13 ½” Fabric B strip to the top and to the bottom of the Fabric A block. Trim the block to measure 12 ½” square to make (1) Block One square (Fig. 1). Repeat to make (8) Block One squares total.

2. Place (1) 2 ½” Fabric F square on the left side of (1) 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric G strip, right sides together (Fig. 2). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper right corner to the lower left corner (Fig. 2). Flip open the triangle formed and press. Trim away the excess fabric from behind the triangle, leaving a ¼” seam allowance (Fig. 3).

3. Place another 2 ½” Fabric F square on the right side of the 2 ½” x 4 ½” Fabric G strip, right sides together (Fig. 4). Sew across the diagonal of the square from the upper left corner to the lower right corner (Fig. 4). Flip open the triangle formed and press. 7. Sew (1) 2” x 4 ⅛” Fabric F strip to each side of (1) 1 ¼” x 2” Fabric J strip to make (1) Unit 4 strip (Fig. 8). Repeat to make (4) Unit 4 strips.

8. Sew (1) 1 ¼” x 2 ½” Fabric F strip to each end of (1) Unit 2 strip to make (1) Unit 5 strip (Fig. 9). Repeat to make (4) Unit 5 strips total.

9. Sew (1) 2 ½” Fabric F square to each end of (1) Unit 1 strip to make (1) Unit 6 strip (Fig. 10). Repeat to make (4) Unit 6 strips total.

13. Sew (1) Fabric F triangle and (1) Fabric H triangle together. Sew (1) Fabric G triangle and (1) Fabric D triangle together. Sew the (2) strips together along the long side to make (1) Unit 9 block (Fig. 14). Repeat to make (31) Unit 9 blocks total.

14. Sew (1) Fabric D triangle and (1) Fabric H triangle together. Sew (1) Fabric G triangle and (1) Fabric F triangle together. Sew the (2) strips together along the long side to make (1) Unit 10 block (Fig. 15). Repeat to make (31) Unit 10 blocks total.

24. Layer and quilt as desired.

25. Sew the (8) 2 ½” x WOF Fabric H strips together, end to end with 45-degree seams, to make the binding. Fold this long strip in half lengthwise with wrong sides together and press.

15. Sew (1) Unit 9 block to the left side of (1) 4 ½” Fabric C square. Sew (1) Unit 10 block to the right side of the Fabric C square to make (1) Unit 11 strip (Fig. 16). Repeat to make (31) Unit 11 strips total. Pay attention to the orientation of the units.

16. Sew (4) 4 ½” Fabric E squares and (3) Unit 11 strips together end to end and alternating them to make (1) Sashing Row (Fig. 17 below). Repeat to make (5) Sashing Rows total.

Quilt Top Assembly(Follow the Quilt Layout while assembling the quilt top.)17. Sew (1) Unit 11 strip, (1) Block Two square, (1) Unit 11 strip, (1) Block One square, (1) Unit 11 strip, (1) Block Two square and (1) Unit 11 strip together in that order to make Row One. Repeat to make Row Four.

18. Sew (4) Unit 11 strips and (3) Block One squares together, alternating them, to make Row Two. Repeat to make Row Three.

19. Sew the (5) Sashing Rows and (4) pieced rows, in numerical order, together and alternating them to make the Center Block.

20. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 68 ½” Fabric F strip to each side of the Center Block. Sew (1) 1 ½” x 54 ½” Fabric F strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block.

23. Starting at the sewn seam (represented by the arrow in Figure 17), draw a 45-degree line to the edge of the fabric. Sew on the drawn line. Trim the excess fabric leaving a ¼” seam. Repeat this step with the remaining corners to make the quilt top.

21. Center (1) 5 ½” x 84” Fabric I strip on (1) side of the Center Block and pin in place. Start sewing the strip a ¼” from the top edge of the block and stop a ¼” from the bottom edge. DO NOT TRIM THE EXCESS. Repeat with the opposite side.

22. Repeat Step 21 to sew (1) 5 ½” x 68” Fabric I strip to the top and to the bottom of the Center Block, making sure to stop and start ¼” away from each end of the block. To miter each corner, fold the Center Block on a diagonal, wrong side together. This should line up the strips from adjacent sides (Fig. 17).
